In the game of Jiu Jitsu Chess, technique is King and explosion is Queen. Exploding in "momentary blasts" can suck the energy out of you but if you do it correctly, at the right time, it is inferior - much like the Queen on the chess board.
If you are a lower belt and watching this video, don't think you can just lay there and do the 50 cal floppy crappie....haha. You need to have technique lined out first - have a plan, then execute the micro explosions to help you get to where you want to go.
Add this to your game and let us know how it goes. Did it make a difference? I know it's hard to perform "momentary blasts" when you are tired but see if you can work it in even when you don't have much energy left. Instead of making one big explosive move to escape a move try the micro approach and see if it helps.
