FAQ: 1. How do I participate in Safari Week? -Just shiny hunt in a Safari Zone/Great Marsh with a safari game and post the shinies you find somewhere if you want! (FR/LG, R/S/E, HG/SS, D/P/Pt, BD/SP, R/B/Y fishing) I'm very excited to see a new safari game being added to the mix this year with the Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl Great Marsh. 2. Can I hunt in the ORAS Safari Zone/Friend Safari? -If it's all you've got, I'm not gonna stop you, but the spirit of this event lies in the thrill of the original safari games where you don't know if the Pokemon will flee or not! 3. Are there any real rules? -No, just don't try to pass off cheated shinies as legit because it just makes you look stupid and everyone will hate you for being dishonest lol 4. Are there any resources I can see for this? -Professor Rex has a good thread on all sorts of resources to all the mechanics of the Safari Game, including a recently made guide from Riyaly that helps you skip forward days to level up blocks in the HG/SS Safari instantly! Please check out this thread for further information: twitter.com/RexProfessor/status/1531285357592989696
I thought the oras safari was illegal because the shinies can't run away lol (and u can just masterball it.. also i love ur vids, can't wait to see your safari week vid! ❤️)
This really makes you think about what it would be like to be an NPC in the Pokemon world. You're standing by your usual post at the Safari Zone, keeping an eye out for any poachers and helping any trainers who pass by. Then a young trainer, maybe about 10, bikes by you. They don't look at you or really acknowledge you, but whatever. Some people are focused on other things and don't notice you. Then they stop in a patch of tall grass, seemingly arbitrarily. Then they start to hop. And hop. And hop. Minutes turn into a half an hour, then several hours. You're glued to the spot, just watching a 10 year old bunny hopping on a bike for hours. Never stopping other than occassionally encountering a curious Pokemon. Staring straight ahead. Never moving. They continue to bounce. After a few hours you wonder if you should talk to them. Ask what they're doing, why they're so dedicated to it. But first, you radio the other enployees to see what you should do. One of them radios back and tells you not to worry. Every year, a few dozen or so kids come in and do this. They're on the search for shiny Pokemon. Apparently it's a whole event, and is great for business. You're not sure whether to be more baffled by the fact that multiple people are doing this, or that this is their idea of fun. The day goes on and your shift comes to an end. You leave for the night, and in the morning you come back. The kid hasn't stopped the whole time. All day. All night. They keep bouncing. For an entire weekend. Monday rolls around, and like clockwork, the kid suddenly stops hopping. The ground beneath them is throughly worn from days of hopping. They bike off, as wordless as they arrived.
I love that Matt is literally a professional person, but is also so dedicated to pokemon and his channel. Ya love to see it tbh. Thanks for being awesome Matt!
The pacing and tone in the newscasters voice make me feel like like its the 2000s again lmao. Love how you could transport us back in time with this video :)
We can only hope Mr. Zone has a change of heart by the time 2035 rolls around and we return to Hoenn in Pokemon Let's GO! Azurill and Let's GO! Wynaut. Until then, I'm excited to take part in Safari Week!
Really excited for this year’s safari week! Just kinda wish I could decide what outside food to bring. The video just didn’t really make it clear enough what some of the Pokémon tend to like…
That Pokemon XD music is perfect for this haha. I wanna see an interview with the HGSS warden, he should answer for his crimes. Making us wait literally half a year after we meet his demands for like 30 rocks in a small space before we get the good stuff like Gibles.
been excited for this one, first new safari week since i knew it existed and first in a new game for about a decade, might even try and participate if the adhd doesnt hit me too hard
I can’t wait to participate in this year’s safari week. Just yesterday I was shiny hunting in platinum’s great marsh when I lost a shiny quagsire and I got reminded of the event by my friends. Hopefully I can reclaim it during the event!
My quest lies in the johto safari zone... where a VERY special Weezing awaits me... Fr tho, this is my favorite event of our community! Good luck everyone!
Since this is my first safari zone I’ll ever be able to participate in, I will have to starve the local Pokémon population, but at least I’ll be there! :))))
This is my first time doing any safari hunting, I’m going to do it in the BDSP great marsh because I don’t own any of the originals right now, I’ll do platinum next year though :)
I’m prepared this year!!! I have a four GameCube gba player setup so I can run them all with one wavebird and 4 gba sp 101/modded screens so I can 8x hunt as comfortable as possible!!!
Cal Zone is like the Weird Al of Pokémon. 🤣 looking forward to another feeble attempt at Safari week. Gonna try The Johto Safari. 😊 last year I found a shiny Tangela in the Great Marsh... it ran after 1 ball. 😑
If anyone who only owns ORAS, then a cool idea would be to add their own external factor. Simply treat Pokemon like the RSE Safari Zone. Since every Pokemon in the RSE Safari zone has a 15% base chance to flee, use a random number generator to pick a number between 1-100. If the number is 15 or less, you must run from the Pokemon. And to add to the experience, you must only bring 30 great balls(equivalent to Safari balls) into the Zone.
I only have SoulSilver for this really XD Unfortunately, I’m doing a shiny only run so I’m unlikely to get to the zone in time. But hey, good luck to those doing it.
