Great video, awesome opening on cam. I also though a factory bitting of 10042 would be easy picking even with security pins. I though I put the serrated pins in the threads chambers but as shown I didn't, oops. Like Bill, I opened that "simply evil" lock once after I pinned it up. I also opened Wicked Evil only once. I have had those locks a few months and didn't want to sent them until I opened them at least twice. I got frustrated in last few days before packing them up. Bill, practice with those tweezers, they are great when re-pinning cylinders. I just love my bent ones. Your cylinder tool should still work with the Schlage tail piece holder in place also.
Dang. I'm going to guess all the locks are gone now. Man I wish someone would send you a bunch of lock picks to give out again. I missed my chance there. Great video and some awesome locks. I can't wait to see that MT5 though. I also want to see the pure evil lock or whatever it was called.
Hey Bill, at work we use these USCAN Grade 2 Storeroom locks, they're KIK ones. After disassembling one today in my downtime, I realized (as far as I can tell) the lock itself can't be removed from the knob. Have you ever seen KIKs like that? It seems like it would be difficult to service, which was what I wanted to determine by disassembling it. We currently ship locks out of town for servicing and I figured I could garner some small business goodwill doing it myself.
Haha... I found that the plug can be removed while still in the knob. I also lost a spring and retaining pin spring after accidentally pulling the plug out past a chamber. Anyone want to send me parts so I can right my infinite wisdom Monday? Otherwise I'll buy a package of each somewhere. Maybe if I offer to save work some money they'll overlook the embarrassing situation I put myself in.
nice work Bill, very kind sending all those locks out ;) Are you able to remove all the MT5+ elements apart from the sidebar and maybe the alpha pin? Thats how id approach it.
Hey Bill, Great video as always. Cannot find the PM/message feature on youtube anymore. Do you have an email for future giveaways? If this one has run dry?
Bill, great pickin again. How is threading done ? I mean can it be done with a tap & die kit outselves, or is there another special locksmithing tool ??
bosnianbill Bill I watched the video, thank you, very informative. What approximate tap sizes would be needed for locks ?? If I can find a whole inexpensive set, smaller sizes, I will but the whole set and/or individual taps ?? Thanks again.
