This EMD G12 is a model of locomotive that is highly regarded by Sri Lankans. 14 engines of this type were imported to Sri Lanka between 1954 and 1961. Thirteen of those 14 engines are still in good use by the Sri Lanka Railways. Had one engine not been completely destroyed by the 1985 terrorist attack, all 14 engines would still be in use today.
Oh boy, what a wonderful video. Glad to see another EMD G12 in operation. Thanks from Sri Lanka for uploading the video. Locomotive in immaculate condition, maintaining very well.
Delicious. In Cuba we have its littler sister, G8, and is our most reliable engine. 68 years old without overhauling and there they are. We have lost many of them in accidents but the living ones are the most loved locos on my country.
