@@Poopiestboy what? I am over 400whp on my STI on Ethanol with bone stock internals. Almost 2 years now with no issues. Keep up with maintenance on your car and don’t launch it at every stop and it will last.
Alexzander Griffin yea the gearing is definitely not ideal for this type of racing. Against some cars cars I’d shift 4 times where they only shifted twice 🙃
Can we just mention the fact that this STI is an ABSOLUTE SLEEPER. It looks pretty stock and I would have no idea this is what it is until it rolled on me.
Yes sir, all you could see is after market wheels. Not even lowered or anything. Even the fmic was hidden behind the lower grille. Never cared for looks I wanted the car to perform. Only reason had the wheels is they’re lightest wheels out there for the price
This video is too good, I’m making mine 650whp for sure now, what stage block is that? I’m going to guess stage 3 iag closed deck or equivalent to that? 😍
Thanks! It didn’t make crazy power but, was an efficient set up that worked well. Car actually got a lot faster shortly after this vid but I made a decision to part it out, part ways and put race cars on hold.
@@foshobmx that’s so sad to hear man, why would you do that with such a beast?! What was the maintenance like on a 650whp sti? And what stage block did you have? Thanks in advance :)
@@bag2963 his 4th to 5th gear ratio is spaced very nicely. It’s “tight”. He’s also power-shifting from 4th to 5th which is why you hear the pop. No delay in boost and it’s got long legs with a big turbo so he’s reeling a lot of folks back in there (up to about 160) - where his 5th gear taps out and his 6th gear is probably too long to get into
I can’t believe AWDtuning is still in business. About 10 years ago this trash company sold me several engines in there attempt to build my WRX. Never forget!
incorrect there are a few that have dine better then a subaru at the nuhren. ring in germany. and in a straight line no 4 cylinder can beat a V8 unless it has help of 25lb or more of boost. there is no replacement for displacement.
So hard watching these videos sometimes. Knowing that if I just upped the boost on mine, and went to e85 I'd be close. Just don't want to kill my ol ej257 lol. Fbo, with forged internals and a 55mm turbo on 18psi. I just cringe sometimes thinking about an engine that cost about 16k to build going 💥
Folks , it is not about peak power ! It is about power to weight ratio and usable power band. That subie has probably over 500 wtq at 4500 rpm. And after 5200 rpm the horse power climbs all the way till 8000 rpm.
Erika Quezada I was a bit surprised as well, my Subaru’s always had great top end power though as soon as I got into a gear long enough to really stretch her legs
Love how this magically fell into my recommendations and I saw your comment. That was my V. Great car - miss it much. STI was no slouch! Wasn’t expecting that much of a gap haha
Gabriel Torres that’s the most power that could be made in the turbo I was using so it was definitely around 650 wheel 😄 it was a pretty efficient set up, car was also pretty light put in on a scale 3150lbs
Gabriel Torres stock displacement 2.5L big cams, twin scroll turbo set up, efr8374 with a big 1.45ar. 4” intercooler etc etc. basically everything was off the shelf parts anyone can buy
RPF1s was my lightest most affordable wheel option really and those 255/40/17 hankook Rs3 tires had just enough grip. I liked the wheel/tire set up a lot.
^^^^ Don't listen to this dolt who probably doesn't even own one or has "a friend of a friend of a friend" who was one. They're pretty reliable as long as you don't go trying to make ridiculous power on stock internals & keep up your maintenance.
Cameron J I actually do have a 2018 wrx. I’ve read countless horror stories of just going a stage 1 tune. Granted it’s most likely people driving like assholes. But a 3 year 36k warranty kind of says it all. Weak rods also. Are they American car bad? No. But they aren’t Honda reliable engines that’s for sure.
maanyoutalkalot they can be very reliable, with certain upgrades and aftermarket parts you can make a lot of reliable horsepower. Look at iag stuff, it’s expensive but it’s a lot of power + reliability which if you go for anything above 300-350 on stock shit it will probably not be as reliable
Dog dog 6466 is the truth as long as you’re tuning over 30psi that’s it’s happy place. 30-40psi imo. Mine was a twin scroll set up, with a big hot side
Do you ever look back on this video and think, “man what was I thinking parting this sti” I know I would it’s sad to hear that this thing is no longer killing the streets :(
And im building my fully closed deck ej257 engine to make enough power to get 850whp wtf. If it doesnt make 850 but at least 700 then ill prob just not go any more lmao. Pte 6870 ftw bruh the ball bearings are beautiful
@@vp62ift I can hold 800 wheel in my current block but after 700 these blocks dont last. I'd be buying a bigger turbo, bigger injectors, rotated kit, fuel pump, another wastegate, all for 100 hp because I'd never push past 700. So imma chill at 600.
