Note that despite being very faithful remakes, Dunsparce obtained from Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl DO NOT have this same quirk, since they are generated with separate encryption constants, and the nature is determined in the more modern way.The only games where this works are the original Gen III and Gen IV games (and despite there being a 100% place to find Dunsparce in FR/LG, unfortunately Synchronize did not get its out of battle effect until Emerald.) Also note that 3 segment Dudunsparce from Colosseum CAN have Run Away because the way ability is determined in that game is different. I also encourage you to check out theDOMINATION's video on this because it's also good, and we both happened to make videos about it at the same time (great minds think alike!)
@@Flametix I know how to get that name and ribbon, but I'm asking of this is only possible from the ribbon. Because I don't think there's enough room to type it out.
It's so funny you accidentally called it a "Spiny" Patch. When I was a kid the first I had ever heard of Shiny Pokemon was on some back alley old early 2000s website that called them "Spiny Pokemon". And it talked about how they were a glitch and could destroy your save. I would then find my very first "Spiny Pokemon" not too long after in the Seafoam Islands of LG. A Zubat! Which I then promptly turned my game off in fear.
i recently decided to radar hunt a shiny chingling to trade into my soulsilver playthrough and when looking into the mechanics one of the videos i found was your old radar hunting tutorial, which made for a funny coincidence, so its cool to see that "pay off" in tandem with your dunsparce journey here, hahaha. great stuff as always
@@excalibur493 i really like the "event" ribbon, gives the title "the festive" but sadly event pokemon that have it arent super common and to get my hisuian cherish ball typlhosion with the ribbon i had to trick oras into thinking the event for cyndaquil was active by using a mod tool
Dunsparce appears in Pokemon Colosseum. Fairly early, in fact. Imagine having a shiny PURIFIED Dunsparce, with every other ribbon, that evolves into the 3-segment. One heck of a hunt
@@shinymainespoon imagine gaining every possible ribbon in existence, then trading all the way to SV-then to realize it’s code didn’t make it three segment
@@shinymainespoon a guy named lettuce leaf used rng manipulation in colo and managed to create a purified shiny 3 segment in his catching all shiny shadow pokemon video
that's actually 200iq thinking giving it a name that will be scrubbed so it will just have the nickname of the ribbon. good info for future hunts going in past generations
That’s so cool I love that it takes no time at all for people to figure stuff like that out. I’ve been watching Pokémon RU-vid since I got access to the internet but your content is my all time favorite
I just found my shiny Shuppet whilst watching this. Was planning to use one on my team and your vids inspired me to shiny hunt it. Only took 860 encounters but thank you so much, your videos kept me entertained whilst hunting and this was the one I was watching when it appeared. I love the content. Sidenote: have you ever considered doing a movie for a nuzlocke of a game, I think it would be really interesting to see
See you hunt for Shiny 3 segment Dundunsparce made me appreciate Dunsparce more and now Dundunsparce and Dunsparce in my top 20 favorite shinies and pokemon!
Started trying this method yesterday in hopes of scoring a shiny 3-segment. I walked away from 1 chain with 2 shinies, but neither can be 3-segment yet. Great video as always! Informative and super helpful - I helped someone get a 3-seg for their living dex using this method as well.
Glad I could watch this, because I‘ve been watching your original hunt every night before bed and keep falling asleep. (that‘s a good thing, by the way)
Oh man this isn't too bad. I thought it was going to be just as insane as the original in SV. Congrats on the second 3 segment Dudunsparce! edit. I love the unregistered HyperDrill 2 lol. Good ol hypercam
Nice! I got a shiny shadow dunsparce chilling in HG rn. It's hardy, let's hope its a 3 segment after I finish this ribbon master quest. If not Im gonna be sad
Thank you for showing me how to get my own 3 segment shiny dundunsparce. This hunt took me 5 different chains and around 1 hour and 30 minutes to find 2 dunsparce. The most difficult part is getting a chain of 40 dunsparce. Make sure you catch more than one in case the nature isn't hardy or the ability is not correct. Thanks
Matt's love for dunsparce gives the same energy as the kids from the anime who love dunsparce. Actually I think his love for dunsparce would blow their dunsparce love out of the water. (Or I guess ground) Love your videos keep up the great work!
It's because the Switch uses Unicode for text entry. Any character that doesn't have a Unicode equivalent _can't_ be kept during transfer, and that's not something Game Freak can really do anything about. You can actually see in the video that his gen 4 trainer name is an umbrella symbol, and that is kept during transfer because Unicode has a character for it.
honestly its so fun that there arent only 2 different variations of shiny dudunsparce, but you can also get one variation with 2 different methods! ill definitely hunt using both
Extremely cool that you can hunt for a 3 segment this way! When I eventually get a full pdds one in Scarlet I'll definitely get at least one this way (and maybe one day a 1/8192 Dundunsparce)
Just used this method to get my 2nd shiny 3 segment! (1st obtained in Scarlet ofc) This may be the faster method, but it certainly doesn't feel fast. Broke 2 chains on accident at 40, got it on the 3rd!
I'm just patiently waiting for Yamper to be moveable to SV. Then they can finally eat my table scraps like good peppers do. Ain't no way I'm finishing that mayo, mustard, spicy herb sandwich.
matt this migh just be m but the pysco in me needs to try hunt shiny dunsparce in gen 2 to trasfer up to s/v for possible 3 segment lol. but this is me who is still going for a full odds (kind of) shiny salamance from a bagon call in s/m
