Impressive, was expecting a half rep. 1 rep maxes are only 20% as optimal as a 5 rep max for strength gains and hypertrophy though.

Really? I was able to get up to 548 lbs. for four reps, so I’ll decrease the weight next time to hit those 5 reps

@@chrisray250 I think 3-4 reps are common for strength, but loads of sets. Like 6-8 sets (24 reps in total). For hypertrophy 8 reps seems to be the gold standard, for 3 sets. But I don't actually know anything, I just watch people yap about strength and hypertrophy on youtube. I think more and more science is pointing towards the fact that being consistent and pushing yourself is the most important thing. Then you can switch up for variety, changing goals (hypertrophy vs strength) etc. You're a beast
