This video is almost a month late. I'll update the "Video details" section after I post.
You can't fish and record at the same time and actually enjoy your trip. I did the best I could. When the fishing was EPIC.. I fished. When it was slow, I recorded. That's how it went down.
I brought a single backpack and four rods/reels. Two packs of hooks (didn't use them).
Shimano ColtSniper Stick-Bait 140S (140mm/54g, 5.5 inch/1.91oz)
Single VMC inline hook on the rear ring. This was done to ensure I could safely catch and release fish, and also not catch a hook in my hand or anyone else's.
This entire video was captured using a Samsung Galaxy S7, and GoPro Hero4 Black. Older equipment I could afford to lose. Video quality isn't up to 2022 standards.. I don't care.
Wind noise is a BITCH.

I noticed you removed the top treble from your stick bait. That working ok? I've done that to a few of my stick baits recently but havent fished with them yet. They seem to swim the same.

While at Cedros it was strictly catch-and-release for me. I missed more bites than normal, but the fishing is so good there it didn't really matter. It's also a little safer for the fish and ME :) I always replace the hooks on Coltsniper's. The stock treble hooks are as sharp as kitten claws, but they can't hold up to Yellowtail. I replace the treble hooks with VMC inline hooks. With a single inline hook at the rear the stickbait swam normally.

@@AndrewKloster Thanks man! I’ve replaced mine as well but I have some with one treble and some with two. I did that because they’re easier to release. Releasing calicos with two trebles is dicey at times. I figure the colt sniper stick baits swim similar to surface irons so why not go with one hook. I’ll soon find out! Lol

@@seansimmons7683 Attached is a photo of how I normally setup my Sniper's. Sometimes I make the front hook one size smaller than the rear hood. I rarely use a treble in the back, and I never use just a single treble in the back. A single treble hook WILL make the stickbait swim poorly with very littel "kick". The background music from the panga got me a copyright strike (duh). The reel in the video thumbnail is a Daiwa Lexa TW 400XH-P (T-Wing). I don't own any Tranx 400's anymore. The final nail in the coffin for those reels was the drag backing off while fighting larger fish. I had two of them, and both suffered the same problem. I replaced the Tranx(s) with the Lexa T-Wings. Best casting reel I've owned so far, and more than enough drag pressure for a reel of this size. BUT... both of the reels are suffering from reliability issues. I've had them both serviced for failing bearings (one of them TWICE). I've only owned them a year. This is not acceptable. By the end of this year I'll decide if I'm going to ditch them or not. Over a four year span I never had to service my Tranx(s).

@@AndrewKloster thank you for taking the time to reply. It's your fault I own a Lexa 400 hd lefty lol. Which has only seen salt water once. It's sitting in my garage in Utah attached to a Shimano rod...all sad ☹️

@@I_am_archie Oh, dang.. That's TRUE reel abuse, haha!! These reels aren't meant for the crap I put them through. Bigger fish require bigger, sturdier reels. There's just not a practical way around that. It's fun to see what I can get away with, but like I said, it's not practical. Have a great Sunday Funday!

I booked with Cedros Outdoor Adventures (COA). The cost was $2400 for four days on the Island. This included the flight from Tijuana to Cedros Island, hotel, boat, and food. Beer is $2.00 each and is via the honor system. Tipping is personal and discretionary. Our group had a blast so we gave a little more :) Friends and I went into town, and we bought souvenirs and snacks. Tackle is available on the island, but it's limited. Bring what you need. This trip was catch-and-release only for me :) If you bring an extra $300, you should be fine. cedrosoutdooradventures.com
