I’ve seen Kris story a few times but the way he described. The beatings at his mums in this interview made me tear up, I could literally feel this young lads pain, honestly it just hit me hard. Bless him and his brother , I feel so much anger to adults who do this.
Interesting point about female psychologists being over represented in prisons. There dies seem to be a lot of girls who take interest in male criminals. It's a very strange phenomenon right enough. Why is this ?? Similar with these woman who write love letters to serial killers...
Kris is one of my neighbour and he is honestly the nicest guy hearing what he's been through and now seeing him with his son is unreal there bond is unmatched and there living there best life he definitely should be proud of himself for turning his life around 🎉
I've been subscribed tae Kris on RU-vid for a few months now. Always liked him but this podcast has made me see him in a completely different light. Didn't realise how articulate he can come across. No sure if he has a wee puff before his own videos, but just comes across as a top guy here with a clear head. Great role model and example of how to use trauma as a springboard to help better your life. Wish you all the best mate!
Brilliant to listen to. Same with Sean Toal episode. The system is broken, professionals feel the same way. I fight every day to keep kids out of secure/ polmont as it doesn’t work but also no community service available to provide intensive therapeutic supports these bairns need then everyone is baffled why they can’t settle in the community and live a normal life.
@round the 2 hour mark .. interesting that young women, fresh outa uni, are over-represented, working, in the psych depts in the Scottish prison system 🤔 P.S. big kudos to Kris for coming out the other side sane and still laughing . Thanks five-0 for a great podcast 👍
Kris is a good dude. He’s had his moments of madness in his life but he’s turned it around and is bringing up his boy in a secure environment which I respect wholeheartedly. It’s all right to have made mistakes in the past. It’s how you behave now and in future that matters most.
Great podcast one of the best I’ve seen. The 2 of you have got the jail in the rear view mirror and doing well. Keep going lads and the best of luck to you both. 👍🏻

A think the best thing that happened to me just turned 21got a heavy stretch in bar. Everyday in the sky channel bk on repeat would be scum and shawshank redemption on every day what a noise up it was. Sadly my maw was going through cancer at the time and my we nana who a stayed way was not well either. So every night I’d think I’d wake up 1day way a screw saying one had died. A never took a vist cause a would never bring my maw into there going through that. But when a walked out the day a got out she was outside waiting on me a just turned 39 last week but a think getting that sentence so young. Thank god a never looked bk and a think it was the best thing that happened to me. Cause a changed my ways and I’ve never went back and a strongly believe getting that sentence so young. Made me change my whole thought process 💯👍🙏 Great podcast 💯👍
They don't want to fix or help young men..it's big business from social workers, police, lawyers, judges and prisons. This is a massive industry that they all feed of. We need folks like you who understand the break up of family to secondary education that is the catalyst to young folk having no inspiration or positive role models that motivate them in learning proper life skills that bring out the best of them. Communities know what's needed not some elite class.
Brilliant podcast lads, really enjoyed Krissy boys stories, hes deffo been in they trenches!! Will add though I am a big believer in trauma informed practice & apply it daily at ma own work in addictions (as a support worker with near 17yr lived experience jagging that nasty). It's never usually about asking people to speak about their trauma, instead its a way of working with people - being mindful of any trauma they may have experienced & not exposing them to triggers or things that remind of it so it actually plays an important part if the long term goal is desistance. An example we use alot is asking housing not to put someone in an area where they were once assaulted or understanding that someone talking aggressively is probably a trauma repsone & their way of surviving so with that in mind we can change our approach in the way we work with them. Probably would be very different in a volatile place like the jail but having ran a mens mental health/addictions group for nearly 2yrs I found the guys who used it & who had done their fair share of porridge WOULD start open up on traumas providing the space to do so is safe. Desistance is to criminality what abstinence is to drugs & alcohol & if workers are trauma informed then if helps us to try to understand & help the person. People have a chance to heal (from addiction anyway) when they acknowledge their trauma. Keep up the good work lads. Loving the content Fivo. Patters class 💯👊
Young teams are nothing but broken wee guys trying to find their place and purpose in a society/community they don't feel apart of. Hope none of my family or friends children go down the path we chose!
Kris's channels excellent, went through a similar childhood but it was alcohol, then I went intae the Scottish approved school system, the abuse in there was a lot worse than I was gettin at hame,I was a troubled wee boy that got the brunt ae anything that happened in the house, middle child syndrome, when my maw leathered me she'd use one ae they moulded slip on scholls, these things were fucken solid,I'd have bruises awe err my body,id be runnin away tae my wee grans, shed basic brought me up tae aboot i started school,i can totally relate Tae being shunned by a parent,I'd sit N waut ootside whatever hoise my maw was drinkin in,id chao the door loadsa times n be tokd tae get tae fuck, like kris awe i need was a parents love, still suffer Fae a lotta trauma Fae my childhood but merr settled noo than I've ever been, spent decades in n oot jail N shit, been away Fae the garage for aboot eight year since my last sentence, drug free n settled in my wee gaff, life's lookin good noo😬
The top brass in justice and government want to help apparently .. well for example we have Kris 5 0 and Paul ferris who have all turned there life around and at least two have shown a want to help prisoners turn there lives around etc yet they won’t use them, it’s BS , like they guys were talking about they do t seem to really want to help they just want to tick boxes
What a plum 😃🫵 that guy doing the pod cast is …. Well done kris but you did not need to go on this bovril’s channel m8 keep up the tinpail story’s KRIS 👍
