This is an absolute miracle cure for all birds Get whole hemp hearts right at Walmart or even drug stores They are around 10 bucks for a good sized pouch. While the bird is systematic replace 50% of his food every day with Hemp seed If you cant find whole hemp you can order it on line As soon as the bird stops showing symptoms cut back the hemp to 10% for healthy birds Also give them spring mix greens every day or Kale They need fresh food every day . Carrots Broccoli yams corn either frozen and rinsed or on the cob sliced then halved and halved again so your bird can hold it in his hand. The cob is great for his beak and to help with dexterity and boredom
I’m scared my Indian ringneck might have PDFD :( I’m so scared and tried to get him checked but the avian vet in my town is always booked or closed. He has been losing feathers for a long time (about a year) but I don’t think he knows how to self preen bc he just pick in one area always. He also is losing head feathers but I’ve noticed growing ones but not completely. He eats perfectly fine. I’ve never seen him throw up. The feathers he’s dropped don’t have blood, idk what to do or expect cause I have another Indian ringneck and she’s perfect fine and gorgeous while he’s balding. I feel bad for not seeing it sooner and scared I exposed her to it
Do you keep both of these parents together in one cage? It is very uncommon for them to lose feathers on the head only sometimes what happens is that the partner parent prints them too much. If he has been losing feathers steadily for a year he might just be molting! When he gets new feathers or the feathers that fall out do they look curled? And he could just be pulling out feathers that is very common for birds to pluck themselves. Just make an appointment and if the appointment is two or three weeks away that’s OK. Keep me updated
@@Weloveparrots2 yes I mostly kept them together but they’re free to separate as they please, they have a lot of space in our outdoor area. I bought him at around 5-6mo old and he didn’t have any tail feathers, I assumed he plucked them out but now that he’s losing head feathers im not so sure. I’ll keep you updated when the vet sees him. He has a couple feathers that look promising so I’m monitoring them but i haven’t noticed any curled feathers. I’ve always assumed he was molting but after researching pdfd it’s just given me a lot of anxiety :(
Watch the two when they are together like I said it happens that usually the partner will overpaying because you’re saying it is mostly on the head he cannot pull out his own feathers on the head so he hast to either lose them or somebody else plugs them out. Yes please keep me updated thank you

Hi my bird eats a medium amount of seeds but a little bit of fruits and vegetables and he is thin and very light in weight he does not buff up unless sleeping or just relaxing he was sick at a time but he got cured thank fully but it made him thin and light weight do u have any tips on how to cure it? if u do see this pls help me.
Well I would introduce sweet potato (cooked) and give some nuts like walnuts or almonds every day! Pine nuts are great too! Also give a peanut or two ! Make sure it is not in the shell! And clean them well and unsalted of course ! Have you tried pellets? Seeds are not healthy!! Is it a young bird? Maybe needs formula?
She is only 2 month are you sure? She might be molting? Does she have pinfeathers on her head that are red? Give her a short misting (shower) once a day. Give her spinach to eat!! Keep the room warmer and lots of scratches to help break up the casings from the new feathers. Bird might be irritated because it is painful so pet softly. What do the feathers that fall out look like ? Normal? Are the tips intact? Do you think it is pulling the feathers out?
she is 2 months old we got her when she was about 2weeks old. I shower it every other day . She is only losing feathers from her wings. The tip of the needle thing of the feather has sometimes orange coloring but it doesn’t have blood on it’s body. It’s not pulling the feathers out since it only happens when trying to fly or flapping her wings . I still hand feed her and give some veggies once a day. Realized this a week ago when recall training.
Two month is very young got recall training ! Are the feather falling out and you can feel pinfeathers ?? I just think 2 month is too young foe a molt! Normally like 6 month! How many feathers did she lose?
5 feathers have fallen after I realized something isn’t normal. She’s already grown a lot of feathers. I’m scared that more will fall of if I touch too hard. Like I said most of the feathers that fall are from her wings.
It does sound like a molt! And you are saying new feathers are coming in!! Limit her flying right now! Do the feathers that fall out look normal or are they curled in?
Hello, I recently got a baby budgie that is about 3 weeks old. I noticed his flight feathers on both of his wings are unaligned and I found some of the flight feathers on the bottom of his cage, also he has been preening quite a lot. Do you think my budgie has PBFD and if so is it okay if I introduce him to my budgie flock?
He is only 3 weeks old? It is unusual for him to lose flight feathers at that age. What does the tip of the fallen feather look like? Is it intact or bitten off? Can you show me a picture? Do all of the other feathers look normal?
@@Weloveparrots2 it's his secondary feathers that are falling out and his vent area is pretty dirty. He possibly got french moult since he cannot fly even though his tail feathers are still growing. I will send you some of his pictures through email
Keep him separate from the other birds! Polyoma virus is very contagious and deadly in baby birds. Watch him treat him normal give him a fighting chance ! If he survives the next few weeks you might be ok. He will shed the virus is stressed so make sure he is comfortable and happy. If you can see a vet !! Sorry to hear about your bird being sick! How many feathers has it lost? A lot??

My parrot (seven months old ) started vomiting when she is in empty stomach and when i feed her she stops but again when she is in empty stomach she starts to do vomiting . Can you recommend me something ? Please i am worried about her . She is doing this since a month and we also tooka her to a vet .Please answer my questuion.
What does the vomiting look like ? Does she do it when you are around? Does only a tiny bit come out? Does she shake her head up and down when she does it? Does she usually do it when touching a part of your hand ?
@@Weloveparrots2 she do the vomititng by shaking her head and poop looks fine and she do this more in the morning . When i see this i immediately give her food ans then she stops .when again her crop is empty she do this again. She do this when we rae around her

Mam please answer this question please i beg uh...plz save my cockatiel from dying... Mam my cockatiel was a little tired from this morning..i thought may be he needs more sleep.....but as the time passes he didn't chirp and even didn't eat much......Now recently he us lying on the floor of the cage without showing any movement...at first i thought he is dead.... (May god protect him)...and one thing more he is fluffed up...he can't even sit... i have sprayed some moderate water on him....after spraying he can sit...now mam tell me what can i do further....
Ok please if you can go to an avian vet. Until then make sure the room is dark and quiet! See if you can get the bird to drink water! Add some apple cider vinegar with mother to the water! Often the problem is calcium deficiency! If you can see if it will eat some spinach! Keep the area warm! It would be best to place him in a small cage or box that can be dark. The bird needs to rest and not be stressed! He might be fluffed up because he is cold! Unfortunately it is a bad sign when they do that!! Please make him feel very comfortable and loved right now!! If he is dying he should do so with the knowledge he is loved! You can place him on your chest under a light blanket and pet him or sing to him. I am sorry your bird is sick! I hope you are able to go to a vet!

Sorry yes it is very contagious! Just keep the bird in a different room then the other birds! And wash hand before handling the other birds! What makes you think he is sick? They can still live a very long time with the illness !

Make sure they are not stressed at all! Are they in a big cage? Are they getting fruits and vegetables? That is very important!! I am happy you this much about these babies!! @@Weloveparrots2 no they really dont know what virus . They are not sick , but they tend to sleep a lot . Maybe because i put them in a small cage . Yes i already separeted them ..
@@Weloveparrots2 i just got them yesterday . They really dont want to eat anything escept seeds . But i am giving them fruits and veggies . Not really . But when they groom thier body they tend to loose quite a lot .. much more than my cockatiels
How big is the cage? They need room to fly! The only thing you can do is watch it! Budgies like to sleep! What does the feather look like when it falls out? How old are they? Maybe they are molting?
@@Weloveparrots2 i think my bird has it but not 100% sure. My bird started off with lots of discolouration about 1 and a half years ago and it evolved into feathers disappearing but the head is fine.
