Feel's good to be able to fix stuff yourself. Good job there driver! Bailey in the windshield at the old truck stop, Priceless! Stay safe and much respect to you Dan for making it work in today's horrible trucking economy!
You're better off fixing it yourself for sure. It's gives you satisfaction to get it done your self and to be able to keep the truck rolling. It's hard to get anything done in a shop in timely and satisfactory manner. With the way you go about your business,You are a positive ambassador for our profession sir!
You da man Dan, I have replaced alternators, batteries and other minor stuff in parking lots but I have never done an A/C job, you can be proud of that one for sure
If you change the the a/c compressor without pulling a vacuum on the system the receiver/dryer should be change, if it has never been change since you had the truck then it's a must . When you have time ,have a shop put a recovery machine to pull out the freon, strain it, replace the dryer, then pull a vacuum, and recharge the system. You'll think your riding in a freezer.
Well done Dan, to be able to keep working while you got the parts together mate. Not only have you got your truck fixed you did it yourself. Cheers Michael
Thanks Dan You earned your money this week mate The thing you owner operator do to be on time and deliver the load safely You stay safe enjoy the 4th July and I looking forward to the next Video 🌵🇬🇧👍
Always Count on Dan for the “Train for the Day” as well as getting the Load Delivered Safely and On Time. Almost forgot to mention a Courteous Truck Driver. 👍🙏
I have a Train riding behind my place every Sunday and have another train I can hear just across town in the evenings....I think it goes from us in the suburbs to Detroit 🤔
Dan, you save yourself a lot of TIME and MONEY by having the ability to do a lot or repairs yourself. I followed another trucker who had to go in for service for most anything that went wrong with his truck.
Haha at 2:42 when you panned over to Bailey that sign "Sups" appeared in the background over her head. The first thing that popped in my head was you were captioning her thoughts as a new feature of the vlog. Stay safe out there y'all. Glad you got your AC fixed, Dan.
Coming home from Benson Thursday night, I passed a flatbed with a tarped load. My wife made a comment about his straps not being twisted and were fluttering in the breeze. I am thinking, maybe she needs to slow down on Super Trucker Dan's old videos, ya think? Keep up the good work and drive safe Grandpa Fumblefingers Mescal, AZ
Those rolls of plastic are called geo textile, it's laid down on soft ground like clay or mud and a layer of rock or gravel is put on top, it keeps the bad ground from punching up into the road bed
I've only driven one truck that had a great ac and it was a cabover of all things great job with the ac and stay safe and have a safe trip God bless from GA
Hello again!.. it was I said hello to you!.. when you throwing trash out!.. at the Alabama dot scales!.. and Bailey was going crazy 🤪 Adam Sandoval convoy across America helping Wounded Warriors Project ck them out also.. ty Dan for your service!
Back in the stone age, 1970's and 80's and 90's when I drove my first two trucks did not have air conditioning, a 1974 F model Mack cabover, and then a 1977 International cabover. I loved the cornbinder, but it could be pretty hot in the summers in the southern states. Oh yeah, they did not have power steering either. When I bought my first brand new truck, a Int'l Cabover, it had a great air conditioner. Then I bought a new somewhat custom Freightliner Conventional at the Mid America Truck Show in Louisville, it had air and power steering. I thought I was driving a Cadillac!! Love your videos, I hope you stay safe and keep at it. This retired ol driver thanks you a lot. What is the plan with your Peterbilts at home? thanks again, retired ol ron.
Thanks Dan for what you do. Without your movement of goods America would be in bad shape. Have a safe 4th July. Hope you are home and Bailey enjoying a JUICY bone! Really enjoy riding along with your videos. Bob in NC
Last night, Sweetwater Texas big storm. Now on my way to family. Pleasant hill farms mt vernon and then head back after my reset to new brunswick Canada
At least all you've had is heat, up here in Atlantic Canada it's been non-stop rain coming up from the Gulf of Mexico all week and the firesmoke from Northern Quebec, not as bad as New York City, Toronto or Montreal though, but when you're a Diabetic, had a Heart Attack and have Bronchitis, it tough to go outside. Thanks for the video.
It would probably be good if you could get yourself a stick thermometer to put in a vent closest to the evaporator should be 40 to 45 degrees remember that temperture is the same that's going into the compressor to cool it
Mr. Good Wrench, I presume! It has to feel great to have the A/C operational once again and even better, knowing you tackled the job yourself. Have a good 4th. of July. That's our son's Birthday, he should have been born in the U.S.A. instead of Canada! Keep cool & stay safe, Dan.
👍It's good to be proud of yourself for job well done. I know that Texas heat, I was in Dallas the week before. It was little better compared to this week.
Phew, I thought we were going to get a 2 minute video, as when Teresa calls, that's usually the end of the video 😃 Yeah Texas was a little warm this week. And way more humid than AZ.
Should be part of requierment to drive a truck to know how to do miner repair means you know your truck and how it works to many steering wheel holders
Dan Dan the professional flat deck man. Not having air con is not a great way to truck, that’s for sure. I would feel proud also if I had fixed my air conditioning unit. You probably saved yourself a few hundred bucks. Better in your pocket than there’s. You sure do get around in a week. What I like about you is your a no nonsense kind of guy. Your videos are always about what your doing and nothing else. Suprise to see the Hi Teresa sign not up. You being gone so much makes it difficult for others. Anywho Dan, another top notch video. Have a great and a safe day. Happy trails and happy motoring..
Appreciate all the videos and hard work you put into them. Crazy question but do you have a name for your truck? If not you should do a contest to name her and winner gets a shirt or something. I’ll start…she looks like a Gayle for some reason.
Hi Dan, yea that's like hauling logs. that's an easy load. there is no way that load will come out thru the sides. Don't need those belly straps when they use the side poles. they double secure the poles like you said. i hauled them a few times, once you get use to the poles there , its a piece of cake. Flat bedders, were not use to new idea's.. lol
I live in petal mississippi that's about an hour and a half from meridian and I feel ya on the heat. It has been so hot. Next time your in the area I would love to meet you and just shake your hand. You are by far my favorite person on all platforms. Thank you for the videos you make.
Glad you got it fixed. I'm 75 miles south of St Louis. Rained Friday up there. Stay safe. Kinds rough up there right now. Lot's of shootings. Bailey lookin good. Have great weekend.
I was waiting to see how the A/C situation shook out. Easy to say this now, but I had a hunch you were gonna tackle it yourself. If anybody could handle the task... it would be you. Really appreciate your skills and enjoy your videos. N.Texas here... I get it... it's been hotter than two rats screwing in a wool sock this past week. July 1... the heat wave finally broke, thank God. Stay safe Dan. Looking forward to the next video.
Only issue is why the compressor failed. If it was just a leaky seal what you did was fine. But if it grenaded internally, then the AC system needed to be flushed with nitrogen to get out all the debris and the receiver dryer needs to be replaced. If you don't do this the compressor may not last long and the warranty on the compressor will not be honored if it fails in the warranty period.
Awesome Dan! I’d commented on the last video that you should just stop at HF and get the pump and manifold and do it yourself. I was faced with the same problem on my 40’ diesel pusher RV. Watched a couple of YT vids and went to town. Bit of a guessing game on how much r-134 to put in with ~80’ of refrigerant lines! Cool old sign at the end. Bunks available.
