The wait at the start is just terrible game design lol. They could literally do a staggered simultaneous start or an accelerated clock with replay angles of cars leaving, slowing down just before the last few seconds to show you the point of the mission. But no. We'll just make the player sit there watching an unskippable timer LOL
@@pgr3290 Had to be a troll imo. Roughly half of all "challenges" (including licenses, missions, etc) are rolling start. So there is literally 0 reason they couldn't have done that for this one. Basically like "who's going to be stupid enough to sit through an unskippable timer maybe 100s of times, just to get an imaginary number (100%)" To rub it in, they have a countdown timer that IMO is literally not anywhere else in the game (countdown above 3)
@@davidrobertson561 He clearly plays with a basic controller, and it's quite difficult to have any feeling with it. With emulation you can set the sensibility of the joysticks to get a nicer direction feeling but you are still always full throttle and full brake when you hit a button, wich doesn't fit most cars without traction control. I know you can work a bit around with the right joystick, but that's not a miracle.
Honestly, not really. The only reason he won it is because the lead car somehow crashed (which I didn't think was even possible). He used the wrong line on a bunch of corners and didn't use the full width of the track on numerous occasions. You almost always need to get a 9:12 or better to beat the lead car. This challenge is also infinitely easier with a wheel. You can really keep the car on the limit on the squirrely corners and times of 9:10 and better are possible. Good example here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jiN1a8YkwPY.html&feature=emb_logo
If you didn't know, the lead car taking the wrong turn was a trap because if you hit an AI you would have gotten a penalty, ultimately losing in about 3rd place. Speculating that the AI hadn't made the wrong turn, you would have to get lucky with the car's steering and win with less then a second. This is why this mission is impossible.
@@kerssedNop, hes ritgh, is 99,8% and I know that because I repeat mission 34 like 1 million times and never win. Is the most difficult race in the game, and the last for complete the game.
yeah i never understood why they couldnt just throw you in when the 300sl is this 2 minutes away, noooooo, the mission isnt already hard enough, you have to wait this fucking 2 minutes every time
I remember my dad triying this mision one time...and other...and other...and other. One day, we feel it, it was the FUCKING day. He pass the second pilot in the last left corner, the first was near, it was there, but it was the last corner -"FUCK THIS, NOT THIS TIME YOU OLD PIECE OF SHIT" He pressed the X like if was his life, he was making the corner at full gas, imposible? well, that is true...he smash it, he hit the SL in the side so he could make the turn and pass that last car At last, the hud updated, 1 place, it was soooooo near 5 seconds penalty, the slk near, only the a few metters to the finish line. He saw it, it was gonna pass him, so he blocked it, in the last second the SLK hit the back of the SLR, he lost the control, the SLR was going to spin...but it was the last meter, i took the controller i closed my eyes and i pressed the reverse, i was praying...5 second passed...i open my eyes...FINISH, 250 points... And that fucking day, we promise too travel one day to Nordschleife with our Mercedes A
Hardest. Mission. Ever. Made. HOLY FUCK i remember myself beating this mission when i was like 11 years old, took me like 2 months, trying 3-4 times a day almost driving me insane, never wanted to knew anything about that mission again after finally beating it, but now watching it gives me chills. :D
If you read the description they literally tell you " will feel like a fish out of water" which means those tires are not as grippy as you expect they would be And fish out of water is a correct analogy too because normally the Mercedes SLR is designed as a stable and composed luxury Supercar, EVEN on the Green Hell, so they made it a "fish out of water " by taking that trait away.
Back when I was younger, I actually destroyed my PS2 and Copy of GT4 NOT because of this mission, but the Seattle 3-lap race in the Superbird. When I returned after a few years, matured and with lots of competitive online driving on GT5 under my belt, the driving mission really did become easy. But then again I had enough dedication and free time to run gold times on all 80 license tests as well. To this day I haven't completed the game.
Same here. I used to lose my cool when I played this with 15 y.o. (aprox.) and last time I played it, with my 20ies, this game seems really really easy... and boring. 😅 But still fun. 😃 Better than most current crap... 🙄
@@R4M_Tommy It's a bit easier once you know when you can abuse the other cars to get through turns, the thing about the penalty system is it only gives you penalty if you hit with the front of your car, not the side or the back
@@aliultimate009 This mission is a pain in the ass that nobody wants to redo. It's not fun, it's annoying, because even just missing the apex of one turn could very easily make it impossible to catch the leader. You would be happy just completing the mission, glitch or not.
This mission definitely gave me alot of shit, but it was an unforgettable experience. The opening moments are amazing... I loved hearing all the cars rev together, then the intensity increases as each car departs, tills it's just you in the SLR... then the countdown hits... *3* *2* *1* *START* GT4 was the best.
8:26 squeaky bum time! Well held there! I remember doing this mission, it was the thought of having to wait so long for your next opportunity that put so much pressure on each corner.
It’s weird because before I had raced the 24 hour race, I viewed this track completely different. Now that I have done 24 hours of it, I know every corner haha
I remember this mission. Took me 10 tries to finish this. 9 of them failed because i always got crashed or step outside the track. I found out that if i play safely i will be able to overtake all of them, Nurburgring is a longgggg circuit and those CPUs are running slow. Man i missed the old days...
I had a hard time for Mission 34 on GT4. Took me couple of tries from like 2/4 years after failing such as losing stability to catch up how the SLR McLaren was so heavy to control with sport tires while I was trying to unlock a Nissan R89C :/
Maybe he cleared the mission but he didn't finish first, bc it happens if you finish last too, the missions will actually appear cleared. I just saw that some months ago.
The Karussell is designed to be Hell on traction; the entire hairpin has those concrete panels that kill traction, much like *_SAND_* does to racing motorcycles both GP and MX alike.
I remember this mission, I still have nightmares about it. It was the only thing I had left to do for this game, and it still bugs me to this day. I left this game 99.6% completed, so this was just 0.4% of the game, I still believe I could not do it, so a big thumbs up from me dude
