Sounds good, the plastic cap every one is talking about is there that's why you can only turn it 3/4 of a turn, an old saw you could turn it all the way out if you wanted to
Haha yeah it does sound better to me as well, i wasn’t really suffering from a lack of power either haha but I love being able to cut faster :D make it that much more enjoyable! It was pretty darn easy to do also. Most power I’ve ever gained on a engine for free lol. Take care my friend!
Thanks for watching Andrew! Your right if the saw is run to lean it could cause quick damage to the saw and no good benefits to running it to rich as well :) I appreciate the comment, take care!
Hey there, I appreciate you making this video. I'm planning on doing the same to my ms250 soon. I have a question... Once reinstalled, roughly how much adjustment did the H carb screw need? I'm slightly concerned as I suspect my carb has limiters, but it really didn't seem like you had to tune it down very much, so maybe it's not a concern with this modest muffler mod/port action. Thanks for your insight
Hey Colin, thanks for watching! That’s a good question, I can say that mine didn’t need a lot of adjustment. I’d say mostly due to not opening the exhaust up to much! My best advice would be to just play around with it and make sure to back it down some after you reach the point where it’s really screaming! There is a point also where it can sound like it’s running really crisp but not actually have more power, if that happens back it off a little more! Hope that helps, take care!
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm I used the same hole pattern as you, backed the high out just a tad and the saw cuts better than ever. Thanks again for showing your process.
Darren Garlough if I remember right I still had enough adjustment without taking them out! I would just run it and do the sound check on it! Mine was still able to keep that slightly rough sound without taking the stops out. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching Larry, it seemed to really bring some life to the saw! I cut for about three hours yesterday and man what a difference. Take care my friend!
Also just to Summarize it for ya if your looking to do this, it’s real easy. Drill out your exhaust baffle and adjust your carb, probably gonna have to make it a bit richer or you could damage your saw!
I wanted to do this to my MS311 but after pricing a new muffler I am a bit afraid. They want almost 80 bucks for it. And I am slightly worried that it is going to damage my saw.
Thanks for watching Luke, your right a new muffler is a bit pricey! You can definitely damage it if it runs to lean but my advice if you decide to do it just start small and dont be to extreme with cutting and drilling! Best of luck, take care
@@OhioHillTopsHobbyFarm thanks brotha. I think I am gonna leave it alone until I can afford to get it ported and tuned by one of our local chainsaw pros.
That screen does not stop exhaust flow unless it gets plugged. It’s there to stop fires so it would be best to put it back on. I almost caught my property on fire doing what you did
It wasn’t to bad but looking at the exhaust port compared to the small vents in the muffler it seemed to make a fair adjustment in performance :) I appreciate the comment, thanks for watching!
