Ingredients and process of making dough:
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
Instructions:
Mix the Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix the warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let the Dough Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
Prepare the Toppings:
For za'atar topping: Mix za'atar spice with olive oil to form a paste.
For egg topping: Beat eggs and season with salt and pepper.
For cheese topping: Grate or crumble your favorite cheese.
Shape the Dough:
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Divide the dough into small balls, roll each ball into a flat circle, and place on a baking sheet.
Add the Toppings:
Spread the za'atar paste, beaten eggs, and cheese on different dough circles.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the toppings are cooked.
