I keep a spare built 3,5,R o/d assy and center support ready for the next unit. I have saw the 6F50s break that drum. I also had a CDF on a 10speed peel the snapring groove off C-clutch. It had just been replaced a few months ago. Defective parts.

Looks like the casted drum has a bit of porosity.

Gary, great video as always. Hopefully your supplier on that drum will make it right for you. But still sucks to have a comeback for a hard parts failure on a part that you replaced.

It's good to make sure automatic transmission parts are of high quality before purchasing,right?

I got a bad motorcraft piston on one of these transmissions. So even the “good” parts have issues sometimes

Gary, I assume you wear the labour charges on this? I expect your customers get a warranty?

Hello Gary! I have 2016 Ford Kuga equipped with 2.5 atmo engine and 6f35, it is Escape analog for Europe. It has 200000 km now. Should I disassemble it and make preliminary repair , before it finally breaks down? Now it works OK, no major issues. What is your opinion? Thanks in advance

Hi Gary, recent Subscriber here, may I ask you a question about 1 of your videos please that is off topic and 7 yrs old please. The A413 Teardown, and it concerns where you personally order the Diff. Bat wings from please (contact info requested as I would like to order a pr. For my 84 Daytona), I do know that Diff pin working out can cause extreme damage, though I have yet to have that issue street or strip, I just want to avoid future issues if I can. Ty in advance for any info you can give me please, thanks! BTW, love your videos.

Great info Gary. Am currently working on a 6f35 as well. New clutch, converter, seals & piston seals. Took the car for a test drive but doesn't have 1st. Put it to D and it goes to 3rd 😅 any leads?

Gary, where I work we get a lot of late model Fusions on trade-in. I notice harsh-delayed 2-3 shifts on many of them. Is the seal wear on that drum the cause of this? Thanks.
@GaryFerraro
@GaryFerraro 10 месяцев назад
The same clutch works 3rd-5th and reverse, if 5th and reverse are ok not the seal, maybe a valvebody issue

Can you please provide some guidance? My 2014 ford escape 1.6 liter front wheel drive with 180000 miles will occasionally loose power stilghly when acceleraring, I pulled the following code : P0741 and PO744. I changed the transmission fluid; I did 4 drains and refills. I also changed the valve body and updated the valve Solenoid strategy number and the solenoid body ID. I resetted the learned transmission adaptation but the issue is still there. Is the torque convertor out?
@GaryFerraro
@GaryFerraro 10 месяцев назад
Yes, either the converter or something in the TCC mechanical circuit,

does the fusion have the cooler warmer?I ask because Iam rebuilden a 2014 ford escape and was curious if u replace the cooler warmer for the transmission fluid? Also do you mod the valvebody any like installing the sonnax zip kit or transgo?
@GaryFerraro
@GaryFerraro Год назад
If it has the warmer i always replace, not expensive and do Transgo Shiftkit

Send that broke drum to whoever makes them or an aftermarket company. Shouldn't break on a car like that.

First time, every rebuild gets a new drum. I do a lot of these units,first time drum broke, when i got the call, i couldn't believe the car lost reverse
@rtz549
@rtz549 Год назад
@@GaryFerraro this might be the start of that part failing. Whoever makes them or is likely to produce the aftermarket version needs that broken part sitting on someone's desk.

There are natural stresses a bare block of alum. alloys goes through during forging processes, that can stress one part, and not the very next part new or old blade, and even 1 thou off, and that snap ring area is pretty thin to begin with to start, no matter how careful one is inserting that ring, it is stressed going in a will snap down into place with some force as you ride it around and down into place, and there is that final seating shock. It lasted 4 months and boom it broke. They replaced it. But it would be a good deal for the mfg. to inspect it to see if it is a design or mfg. issue. And if it can safely be improved upon.
