Why are these things not simply listed with the exact litres they are? I mean litres aren't exactly a variable unit of measure open to interpretation across the world :)

well i think your going about the cleaning of stuff in totally the wrong way.. before putting a part in this tank you need t ograb a wire brush and get off as much crap as possible. the whole idea of the ultra sonic is to get into parts you cannot normally get to easy... and for cleaning pistons you need to put these in gunk for about 2 hours and then brush them off. once as clean as you can get them put them into this tank on full heat with some fairey liquid for 20- 30 minutes.. dont put mega greasy crap in there with a ton of carbon on it that,s not the idea of these machines.. these are more for the delicate stuff like carbs where you cant get into and for final cleaning up of things like pistons and rods....

I have a similar ultra-sonic cleaner. I find the cleaning power, as you have shown here, very minimal. They are the most OVERRATED cleaning devices ever in my opinion. After 40 mins the dirt on engine parts has only SLIGHTLY loosened but I end up using wire brushes with paraffin then finish with Brillo pads to get the thing really clean...NO, my cleaner IS working normally ...I have done Aluminium shredding tests and it shows the thing is working strongly but as said ultrasonic cleaning is only of any use if the item is just slightly dirty...most engine parts are very dirty, and the cleaners fail to clean them much even after a very extended session. The only really effective cleaning system is Aqua/vapour blasting or bead blasting on surfaces that are not as delicate.

It is still working and very well. I will do a follow up vid. I degrease items thoroughly before now. It is excellent at carb bodies but I do need to rotate them as the ultasonic sensors only seem to work from the bottom of the tank and directly up.

not so sure it will get rid of rust if it is heavy. I degreased a chain which was quite stiff and seized. the tank loosened up all of the joints nicely.

Sorry dude but that's not how you use snd ultrasonic. Ok, class is in session, lol Some of my fav solutions to use are ; Vinegar and water to deuche your parts in, My prefered is simple green and water, There are many other combos like amonia and water, (but amonia blackens carbs) experiment try commercial mixes, make your own, find out what works best on the material your cleaning. Next you need to break down the parts, you should've pressed the wrist pin out. You want solid parts, so they can absorb the sound waves and dislodge the dirt, the wrist pins act like shock absorbers, no good.. Avoid if possible Also you don't need to fill the tank if you have a few small parts, you can just get a bourbon or rocks GLASS , MADE FROM GLASS, not a plastic glass, fill the glass with solution and set it on the dry bottom, the occilators are in the bottom and the sonic waves will transfer into the glass. Also a ultrasonic will not clean soft material parts, like things made of rubber, the rubber absorbs the sound waves and does nothing. Ultra sonics are primarily used for microscopic cleaning therefore heavy gunk interpheres with their operation by absorbing the sound waves, therefore as much as possible the heavy gunk should be knocked off first Lastly heaters are a waste of money, ultrasonics create their own heat as they work, the longer they run, the hotter they get, think retarded microwave.. I've been using these from L&R (b4 someone asks, mine is a L&R Quantrex 210 no heat] for a long time for oxygen cleaning diving regulators, cleaning carbs and other parts and jewelery, they work great when you use them correctly.. Hope this help some of you guys who've never used one before.
@JB-bb1zw
@JB-bb1zw 6 лет назад
Sorry guys, I can't figure out how to edit the post, Anyhow if you use the glass trick, put the glass in the dry tank, then pure some water in the the tank about half way up the glass, that's the best way.. Sorry frickin boob tube won't let me make changes

Heaters may be a waste, but apparently anything over 2L seems to have one.
@m.s.l.7746
@m.s.l.7746 5 лет назад
So If want to do a few minutes of cleaning, how many hours does it take for the micro cavitation to heat my solution. Also, Since you're utilizing chemical reactions, it might help to know that the time factor directly corilates with temperature... basically, heat speeds up any chemical reaction, which would mean in your case it would speed up the cleaning process or better described for some of the chemicals you recommend it would speed up the cleaning process and the dissolving and ruining of the aluminum parts... But that's not your problem right? Both of the products you speak of will ruin aluminum, "only" pistons in this case, in several different ways such as surface finish & integrity to varying degrees depending on the product & what manner &or temperature. anyone with parts cleaning needs should look into the "hot tanking" process utilized in transmission & engine shops to aerospace for cleaning metal like new again. this process works great, provided the solution you're using isn't detrimental to the metal substrate, which many household items/cleaners can, let alone industrial cleaners. it's easy & cheap, since you can use a crock pot on low for little stuff, or even build a large unit for little to no money invested, if larger items or more capacity are required. provided the solution they're in isn't detrimental to the substrate,
