This Video is to show how to convert a 2wd 6L80 to a Fulltime 4WD and allowing you to bolt a transfer case on to it. This was done for Jeep Wranglers, and we use Advance Adapters (50-9600) Tail Housing, and an 07-11 Jeep 241J non-Rubicon. The input gear is Advance Adapters (52-9940).

For those watching this video is mainly for JEEP WRANGLERS. We LS swap Jeeps and are showing that you can get any 6L80 and make it work with the transfer case the Jeep uses. The adapter used in the video is specifically for mating a 241J to a 6L80. #50-9600.

Great info. A little trick when running a tap and you don't want to make a mess with shaving, put some grease on the tap and it catches a lot of it.

I've been a machinist for a few years. I want to give you a few tips on tapping. 1: Get a spiral flute pipe tap. They naturally pull the chips out just like a drill bit. 2: Always use lots of oil when tapping. It makes the tap cut cleaner, the threads will be stronger, and your tap will last longer.

@@jeffreypottsll6723 pipes taps are completely different than bolt taps because they are tapered. One thing you don't want to do is tap the hole too deep because whatever you are putting in it will not get tight especially if its a plug. They also start very easy because the tap is tapered. A few turns is all you need on a hole that size. Just enough so the plug is flush on the surface.

dont thnk he stripped it, think the allen head was barely in the plug and jumped out, stripping the top edges of the plug. you can see brass coloured shavings dropping out

So, if the shaft needs to be cut flush with the 4wd adapter, wouldn't you mark the inside of the straight edge sou you're flush, or does that 1/8 of an inch length extra matter?

I have an 01 Dakota. 3.55 gear 9.25 and it's a 4x4. The rear end went out and all salvage yards say the 2x4 rearend won't work. Is the driveshaft length the only difference?? I have pulled like 20 measurements on the rear its self and they look to be exact??

Quick question. I just did this on my 6L90, except I used expansion plugs instead of pipe plugs. Any way, when I out the output seal in, it seems that the lip doesn't meet up with the sealing surface on the output shaft. I have a sinking feeling the 4wd output has the machines seal surface projecting farther from the case. Any leaking issues or comments on that?

Hey was wondering if you guys have ever done a manual transmission 4wd conversion I need some insight I’m stuck cause it’s not the same process wonder if you guys have done one before my output shaft is 30 spline oppose to the tcase 23 spline how hard is it to swap the output shaft going to tcase any ideas would help!!

If you use air pressure in the transmission the tapping chips blow OUT, zero chips inside! I use this method on spark plug hole rethreading also, any other method lets chips inside.

lol no their just making a Rear wheel drive transmission accept a transfer case not making a 2 wheel drive vehicle in to a four wheeler. You have to tear half the front of the jeep off then find all the parts axle , suspension , drive lines , transfer case and breaks know where to cut what to cut figure out all the electrical issues make sure all geometry is correct then weld it back together. just buy a real jeep it would be cheaper. 😆😆😆

As long as the shaft dont bottom.out in the transfer case its ok. Just prussian blue the end and put em together then vibrate a lil and take them appart. If its touching the blue will be gone where they touched.
