Damn it, 3 floors of fabulous stairs to trod down, where the devil is the elevator!! Joseph! I've asked for an elevator for 6 seasons now, where is it!?! Mr.Carrington, sir, it seems Ms Colby-Dexter-Roman has acquired all the local elevator installer businesses. She may be trying to induce you into a stroke. Damn HER!! I will see to it that she will never beat me again! Joseph, call an escalator company and have their men here by this afternoon!!! Very good sir, I'll get right on it. Will there be anything else? Have Mrs. Gunderson make me a light sandwich, Joseph, and bring it up to the study. Very good sir...Father?!! Father?!!! What is it Steven!?......
God, I wish I had that coat. I have to ask a lecturer for an extension on an assignment tomorrow. There's no way he'd refuse if I sashayed towards him from the back of the hall wearing that.
I heard bette Davis never thought much of Joan Collins or her talent..but Joan Collins is the Bette Davis of TV. Its been thirty years and no TV actress has even come close
They always said in Hollywood that Joan was the Poor Man's Version of Elizabeth Taylor but I always felt that Joan was a Much better Actress than Elizabeth Taylor.
Always fun. When she wears the massive fur I always wondered how the character felt the need to dress for the North Pole in a climate controlled mansion. Lol. Love it!
i tell you!! Alexis with Colbyco oil company was so much wealthier than blake. blake always knew after she inherited cecil colby"s billions he would be hunted. alexis was and really was Dynasty!! she was the driving force behind dynasty! that character to me is the most fabulous I've ever scene!! i can never get enough of her!! amazing joan collins was:-))
@@brothercinnamon2479 so funny that even egyptians have no issue with Elizabeth Taylor's portrayal of their queen, but mostly white and black westerners do LOL
@@brothercinnamon2479 She legit was white tho, maybe w/ some Egyptian mix I suppose. I'm against white washing, but the Ptolemaic line which Cleopatra was from, were genuinely white Greek folk 😂.
@@kiniarobik8429 She WAS up for the role of Cleopatra but because she wasn't going to sleep with the director, producer, et al, they dropped her and offered it to Elizabeth Taylor. Ironically, it was Joan's portrayal on an episode of Fantasy Island that got Aaron Spelling's attention and after Sophia Loren wanted too much money to play Alexis, Aaron wanted Joan Collins.. it was only supposed to be six episodes.. but fans immediately loved Alexis and well, the rest is history!
The clothes, the jewels, the makeup, the drama! Man I miss those shows! It was escapism at it's finest, we could get lost in their world for an hour and forget our own. Now it's "reality" TV, I get enough reality every minute of every day, I want to escape once in a while.
Before I was married I thought this scene amazing. Now that I'm married and have children, it is rich beyond rich and real beyond real. Well done. Excellent acting.
It's unfortunate that too many gay guys still look to her as a role model. I dated a guy who told me, with a straight face, his nickname was Alexis. He really did. I ditched him the next day. Don't forget fellas, if you are gay like I am, you're still a man, believe it or not. You may as well act like one.
@@skaterboy-cz9wj I prefer to think of it as a gay man not forgetting he's a MAN FIRST, everything else is just everything else. Straight face was just another of saying he was serious. Obviously there is nothing straight about a MAN characterizing a woman as his guide in life, especially since she isn't even real.
@@richardburke5686 You’re a real Winner! I can get the whole not looking to fictional characters for life guidance but to really be so shallow cause he was feminine. When you yourself is a Gay man how self hating could you be. Shame on you
@@lilnightlife5049 My sexuality is not the issue. I know how to behave and to treat others. The issue is calling out the behavior of too many gay men who think tearing into someone for no other reason but to fulfill what they think is "funny" and "dish" is just fine. Fictional characters are entertainment not a role model. Do you get the difference? Something I said in my post must have hit a raw nerve with you and ain't "GAY PRIDE."
0:35 - Alexis inadvertently reveals the real reason why her relationship with her children is always so strained. She doesn't view them as people with whom she has relationships; she views them as spoils in her ongoing war against Blake. Either they "belong" to her, or else they've been taken from her.
Fi Lo Li (now a National Trust property) in Woodside, CA. Was used for the exteriors and actually the ballroom was used occasionally. The sets for the Carrington Mansion were based on the interiors but on an even grander scale. Fortunate enough to have visited Fi Lo Li many years ago. Absolutely magnificent 👌.
I just wish the updated show would have stayed 80% in this lane and 20% in the lane they are in now. The dramatics with the music was so incredible and the lines that at times caused us to simply forget it was so over the top and campy. The stars of the show were over 40 and 50 and the the clothes and jewelry omg!!
This is the probably the only time that auxiliary hallway leading to the grand staircase was ever shown, and it was most likely in service of the first shot of Joan walking angrily in that coat. The staircase gets love and exposure, too. But you know as well as I do…The cinematography here is all about the coat.
ivorytower99 There's nothing wrong with being a "Dynasty" fanatic!! Hell, Amazon is selling a cool black T-Shirt with big silver letters that say, "DYNASTY". We both should buy one!! (Although there was a singing group of the same name, but I think it refers to the tv show)
KingofPepsi I'm going to try to find a link for that. Also, I guess there were "I survived the Moldavian massacre" t-shirts out there from 85 (coincidentally, that's right when I started watching the show, as a little gay baby, lol).
how can u say that, joan collins played joan collins, full of her own imnportance. here in england she is not thought of as a good actress, she only thinks of herself. linda evans was great in the series, and her scenes with john forsythe were brilliant, joan colins with her many men were ridiculous
Amazing scene. I love how it is similar to the one of the season's cliff hanger but in reverse. Here she's made her threat and in a few days - will make it happen!!
(0:00-0:56) ...That thing was funny back in '87 when I first watched it, and it's STILL got me laughing like Miss Sophia on Easter Sunday in The Color Purple!
It would have been hilarious if Blake turned away and walked off when Alexis turned to speak toward him. (See, he would be paying her back for when she ignored him going down the stairs)
@@wiibaron LOL or got his "angels" to kick the crap out of Alexis... (John Forsythe was the voice of Charlie on Charlies Angels). I'm old... :(. I know far too many useless things!
Let me tell ya, I watched Dynasty back in the day like a religion. Every Wednesday night, I wouldn't budge from my seat for sixty minutes when that show was on.
I always felt kind of bad for her. He ignored her during their marriage in favor of his business. So she had an affair and she was essentially banished and didn’t get to see her kids. That’s enough to turn anyone into a villain.
@@Aarona13760 Yes, Blake was actually pretty villainous and scary in Season 1 including raping Krystle and attacking and accidentally killing Ted Denard. Then the showrunners decided to turn him into a saint. Adam said at one point to someone that he had to lie to a man with high morals. If Adam only knew his father before he showed up in Season 3! lol
I thought she was going to say F U Blake! Geeezzzzzz......Dang just think if they let them drop F-bombs, omg.... I could think of many scenes it would have been used😂😂😂😂
I tried too. Outside of Blake, Joseph and Fallon, they casted wrong. The revolving Krystal’s, Alexis and Dominique even though I like the actresses, never did it for me.
Again with the house! What are you going to do with it? Stick it to Blake? Time marched on when you were gone, Alexis. Your own children don't know what to do with you.
