It's difficult to overstate just how much of an impact MacArthur had on the Pacific. Had any other man been behind the helm during the peace talks with Japan, our modern day relationship with them as Americans would be INCREDIBLY different. MacArthur's understanding of Japan and the ideology that he governed with during his time there allowed the Japanese economic miracle to take place. Had he made the same mistakes as the Allies in WW1 did, with another treaty of Versailles, then there would have been without a doubt insurrections and war. Basically, without MacArthur, we wouldn't have modern day Anime.

General MacArthur had not been back to America since before WWII. This was his deserved victory parade welcome. He was a living legend for what he did in the Pacific war and Japan. Even though he was fired by Truman over Korea, the country was with him for all his heroics.
