Take the rotation with a big grain of Salt.
I completely deviated from the usual Blizzard III Opener from The Balance, because this worked better for me (idk why actually)

I love my Black Mage but the cast time and movement in all these encounters really makes it frustrating to play. Leveling a picto now to see how they feel.

I don't play BLM outside of getting it to 100 for all 100, so I may be incorrect here, but I assume it's because you wouldn't have umbral hearts for your F4 casts meaning you'd get less casts in the start?

@@sairentoeko True, also not enough mana for flare star. It's divided between the community right now whether to start fire or ice, as in endwalker fire starts were the norm.

I now have 2 classes at level 100, and thought I'd tackle the Black Mage next. I have to admit, though, that I'm completely out of the previous rotation. You start at level 90, so it's going to take time to get back into it. At the start of A Realm Reborn, it was actually my main class, but so much has changed. Your rotation is a starting point for getting back into it!

I feel people are looking at potency to much to see the real big changes Umbra soul halts your ice phase Even in combat you can stay in ice phase and charge enochian when the boss leaves and you can get mana instantly when using it in ice You are incredibly mobile in ice now

BLM feels incredibly boring to me; doubly so after playing Pictomancer. I never liked casting the same spell over and over again and I honestly hope they do a HARD revamp of the job in 8.0 and make it feel more masterful akin to how Y’stola utilizes all the elements more fluidly for damage.

Y'shtola? what a lame example. The NPC uses either invented attacks or has no cast time when casting stuff. Pictomancer is a well done although overtuned job and for that reason it feels right to play it. BLM is kind of like the mage version of drk.

I think it's a good idea. The black mages in other final fantasy games could use all elements. The black mages in ffxiv look lame and weak in comparison

You're casting B3 from AF3 which is a big no no and a loss of potency, must be like that Filler > Transpose > Insta cast B3 > B4 > filler (except ice paradox) which is also a loss of potency 1 cast of ice paradox is -1 F4. Casting B3 from AF3 equals to 196 potency, casting B3 in Umbral Ice = 280. Casting ice paradox is = 500 while F4 is 576 (with the AF3 enchancement) tho Ice paradox is instant there's no yet solid proof of how this is an actual loss. But i bet you can see that 76 potency is still something and i myself as a main BLM need to test it, probably the higher spell speed will compensate ignoring ice paradox in an optimal line
