Somehow, Dave Castro is the most potent member of the CrossFit HQ media team. And he's not even on the media team....

Why did Crossfit choose not to use Sean Woodland to be the voice of Crossfit to comment on the games?

Not getting sean at the games is like ufc getting rid of rogan. He is the voice of the games. As someone who got into CrossFit from Netflix and youtube his voice is the voice of the games.

Dave. I see the Crossfit games are on at the same time as the Olympic Games. Specifically some excellent athletics events. Did Crossfit HQ consider this conflict? Was it unavoidable due to the availability of stadiums? Or was it decided it wasn't an issue?

Will you be making a statement about what happened with Sean? Semi-finals alone showed his commentary is a cut above the rest curious on the decision there

Dave - would you ever repeat "The Standard"? ("Grace", 30 RMU, "Isabel") I feel like that was released to be a literal standard for elite athletes, but I have never heard of any athletes doing that workout again since the 2019 Games.

Dave, do you have a time domain that you enjoy programming the most? And is there a particular time domain that you think expresses fitness better than another?

Interview Alex Esqueda from Crossfit Decimate. He's running two affiliates right now and that's a story in and of itself! One in FL and one in CO. He's a consistent HQ supporter and hosts L1 and L2 seminars whenever he can.

Dave - first off thank you for literally everything that you do. It's truly above and beyond. Honest question and not trying to be a jerk but why aren't the athlete interviews being done under the CrossFit or CrossFit Games youtube channels...or at they very least why isn't it being highlighted or repurposed by them? Keep it up - they're great. It just feels like this is all content that HQ & their media crew should be doing or capitalizing on.

Hey Dave, huge fan of yours and the work that you do. I thoroughly enjoy your content and like immersing myself in all that you do outside of crossfit (shooting, making your oils, leather goods, etc). I hope one day I get to meet you and learn some shooting from you or anything tactical related to be honest. Lucky games athletes have easy access to you that us normal people don't. It'd be cool if you hosted an event, first come first serve, that you taught tactical stuff. I would love to do that and hang on the ranch!

How are you utilizing the Fort Worth stockyards at the games? Will there be a long run on the trinity river trails?

How come you still haven’t given Sean woodland an explanation?

We just did workout 240615 from mainsite at our affiliate. (We follow abiut a week or two behind) It was a blast to run classes through. I have tried looking at the compare to 101203 for previous scores and notes but the comments don't seem to load at thr bottom of the page. Is this is a web browser thing or are the comments wiped forever?

You should wait until after the games for the affiliates and coaches interviews to help have some CrossFit media between the “dead period” between the games and the next open

Loving the athlete series

Hi Dave. You mentioned interviewing people in the community with a story to tell. I have been planning an event for a while now and i have generated some interest from some influencial people in the space. I am hoping to announce it in full in the coming weeks and i want to make it big * this is not for profit. Crossfit the methodology and what it means to me and what its done for me are at the core. How would i go about sharing it with you to see if its something you would like to discuss down the line. Loving your athletes interviews. Mark (England)

Dave with streamyad you can live stream onto your platform. You should live stream the interviews. Once you have it scheduled, you can schedule it in streamyard and everyone will be notified that you have a livestream starting at X time on youtube.

CrossFit has every right to use whoever they want to announce the games. However, given he was the commentator forever, and is frankly synonymous with the games, would it hurt to give a statement on why the decision to move on from him?

Where are the cuts discussions/information?

Hey Dave , Do you think that CF HQ/ CF Games would benefit from someone like NBC Sports or CBS sports buying into the sport. For example they could fund SemiFinals or Regionals or Sanctioned events to help the sport grow and get more eyes on it.

Dave, I'm really enjoying your athlete interviews. Austin Hatfield has said he wants to keep his private life private. Over the years, I have observed that you have also maintained that line for yourself. In recent weeks, however, you have spoken more openly about your personal life. How do you decide what to share with the public and what to keep private? Thanks for all of the content and I'm excited to catch you at the Games in Fort Worth.

The athlete series is good, man! This WIR was a little rough though. I would just avoid mentioning Hiller to much because the people that leave valuable comments on the WIR don't want to hear about him anyway. If athletes do take you up on the offer to visit your ranch you should vlog those. Like teaching Gui to shoot etc. Also, if you're going to interview coaches, will you reach out to Matt Fraser to see if he is willing?

Dave - if you have an athlete with bad internet connection (Alex Gazan) tell them to turn off their camera. Will reduce amount of Wifi/Data required

Hello Dave, thanks for all the athlete videos. Very nice content. I see some fantastic documentary from the buttery bros, or the one of Daniel Brandon. Any plan from CrossFit HQ to do the same? If not why not?

And here it is. Dave only came back if he could have an ownership stake in CrossFit. Now that he has more skin in the game he is more protective of the brand and people and his tact. Previously he didn’t hold his tact and now he has an incentive to do so.

The athlete interviews are great. Talk about bringing in some positivity. 👍🏼 On Hiller….he may have some good thoughts, but he’s also the type of person that will always find a reason to criticize and doubt others. I’ve met plenty of others like him, He’s a little bitter and insecure. Don’t let it get to you! His problem…

Great interviews I have enjoyed them all. I also love the idea of the athletes obtaining their L1 and getting involved in the community. It is much needed for the growth of #CrossFit. It is interesting the the Games athletes for the most part got their start in an affiliate and then choose not to train at one once they achieve success. In the beginning, most of the seminar staff was the games athletes. Why was this changed? Stay healthy Dave CrossFit needs you

Your comments re: Sean were disappointing. Clearly the community doesn’t understand the decision and want him there. You didn’t even provide a reason as to why he wasn’t asked back. The community deserves to know. And Sean does too.

Dave, thanks for skipping over all the Hiller drama in the comments section. There's much better CrossFit content to update every on. Plenty of us are here for that, and not the theatrics. Keep up the good work.

Proud to say I have never listened to Hiller

Have you ever thought of offering a set of parallel games events for strength and/or distance/speed biased athletes. I think of it as the “Elephant” and “Gazelle” tracks. Would be the same format as the games.. just maybe fewer events (say half) and focused on a specific “bias”… could be strength, speed, distance, gymnastics, or even specific sports. Could even do them on alternate years given the amount of work just the games takes. Would highlight a whole new set of athletes and broaden the appeal of Crossfit to those people who have biased interests.

Hey Dave, in regard to Sean not commentating at the games. Last week you got defensive saying Sean is a contractor not an employee, you missed the point of peoples comments. Obviously we don’t know the reason for him not commentating but I’ll say this, the community is not happy that he’s gone, same as when you were fired. Those of us around the world who can’t go to the games want Sean to commentate. I’m sure the other commentators will be fine, but at least for me it’s another thing that CrossFit has got rid of, another change that doesn’t seem to be for the benefit of CrossFit.

Hey Dave, why is there no grant system or way for low income people to come in and get the L-1, as someone who volunteers a ton of my time to help in underprivileged areas there's no real way for them to get into a gym unless one allows them to when they do some type of free event. If we had a program that taught some of these people the skills and gift them a teachable skill they in turn can give them lessons to there community in a way that benefits everyone involved. I have searched and found nothing of benefit, I understand it's a business and you have to make money, but there has to be a way to help low income individuals in the greater community. In my town the average membership is $150 and not much volunteerism happens, how can we change that.

Hi Dave what do you think of the idea of splitting the sport side of CF from the affiliate/methodology? I think some of the benefits would be you could bring in sponsors that might not necessarily have been endorsed in the past like what happened when Monster sponsored the event and affiliates and some of the outside media lost there shit over it just look at the recent weightlifting world championships which was sponsored by KFC. Also other high level sports have sponsors that might not encourage a health life style but in there grassroots sports they still vouch a healthy lifestyle.

Nooooo affiliates (are awesome) but the interviews are so boring! Hearing owners of the 'same business' talk on repeat about the same business is uninteresting. Keen to hear interviews of people that shoot, and more from the wider ecosystem you're in touch with... sports teams, military, medicine, people that make the olive oil, people that make guns and how Bill preps those leather hydes.

Dave Castro is the master of talking outside both sides of his mouth. About the Sean Woodland issue, he splits hairs by jumping on the legality of "firing" him as opposed to his independent contractor status where they didn't "hire him." He never answered the question why CF HQ were so unprofessional in not informing him beforehand, and why the new alleged talent doing the Games are so much of a better fit. Castro has this underlying burning anger inside him, and does not like to be challenged. The guy needs to go as his credibility is shot with his flippant and non-professional attitude and he is just this little angry man now when before he was young and entertaining.

Dude stop wasting your time on Hiller

Hey Dave! I absolutely love CrossFit and the work that you do. You do so much for the community. I do think you need to go deeper on Hiller. Would you be open to hopping on a podcast with him or a RU-vid video? I think both of you talking it out for a couple hours would be amazing. Hiller is a positive dude for the sport and so are you.
