It's time to do something with our 7.3L Godzilla crate engine! And today, Landan and Scott Hubbard do just that! Follow along as they mock up the 7.3L Godzilla in a Fox Body Calypso LX Hatchback!
Drop in the beast engine that powers new Super Duty trucks in your project car with Ford Performance's Godzilla crate engine! Ford Performance's new crate engine, nicknamed Godzilla, comes in at 430 HP at 5,500 rpms with 475 lb/ft of torque at 4,000 rpms. The cam-in-block pushrod design features a cast-iron block with aluminum heads that boasts a 7.3L displacement at 10.5:1 compression.

Im so glad everyone jumped on the 7.3 bandwagon and left a ton of 6.2 F series trucks in the used market. Similar headflow, tons of room to grow in displacement up to and past 7.5L, and they can be had for less than half the cost of a 7.3L.

What about the 6.8L SOHC 2V or 3V Triton V10 and convert it into a 4V 6.8L DOHC 40V Triton V10 with 4 sets of Cobra heads, cutting-em and welding-em, porting and polishing the modified Cobra heads, and customizing the cams, and custom made intake manifold to create a homemade engine that makes over 500 HP and sounds very badass.

@@CJColvin The 4v heads would be an absolutely awesome idea if money was no option. It would be far superior for a max effort application but youd need spend a lot of money on 4 customs cams and still need an intake manifold solution but with some finessing, you would have a monster. I know that you could compete with the headflow of a stock 4v with worked 3v heads as they flow within 10cfm of eachother stock but the valve curtain area is huge on a 4v which leads to a plethora of benefits. Fwiw, Ive even seen 2v heads from companies like renegade racing flowing 225cfm at stock lift and mph has pi porting profiles that flow 240cfm at .600 lift so those 2 and 3v castings support reasonable headflow for a healthy combo at least at the rpms the v10 wants to turn. All that said, the intake manifold has been the biggest bottleneck with the truck v10 runners having such a puny cross section area on both 2v and 3v alike. They are almost the size of a npi 2v intake manifold runner which is lethargic to say the least but this is great for torque production.

@@CJColvin darton makes 5.4 sleeves to go 3.700in big bore that would take a triton v10 to a 7.5L v10 460ci. Imagine 4v heads on that brute!

Sitting next to that coyote, it’s always amazing to me how HUGE the dohc motors are compared to the pushrod motors.

Even the SOHC engines....I measured a 4.6 and found it to be wider than a 460, although shorter front to back

Question: what kind of transmission bolt pattern is the 7.3L? 10r80 bolts to it right? What about earlier models? 6r80? 4r70w? 6 or 10 speed would be better, I was just curious. You got a subscriber! Sorry, I asked before I watched the full video. 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

Don't know numbers on the Ford 7.3 gas engine but at work we have F-550 trucks with a utility bed it has low end torque it moves this big truck pretty good at 2500 -3500rpm it pulls strong the F-550 is probably close to 4 foxbodies in weight throttle response off idle in something like a foxbody should be very fun

Use cargo straps on each side drone the strut towers to let the k member down slowly and evenly way less sketchy. This works with large fwd sub frames as well.

I really want to do this in my Excursion as well. Plenty of room, perhaps an easier conversion for us Gas Guzzling V10 guys that want to be able to mod and add more power.

@@sategllib2191 You should make that V10 in to a custom made 6.8L DOHC 40V Triton V10 provided with 4 sets of 4 Valve Cobra Heads by cutting-em and welding-em as well as porting and polishing the heads to get more flow out of em and so they would fit on the V10 (since its a 5.4L Triton V8 with 2 extra cylinders) custom make the intake and exhaust camshafts to work with the 4V V10, and custom make the intake manifold and man you got you're self a Homemade 6.8L DOHC 40V Triton V10 making well over 500 HP and making such a huge narley sound.

ya dying to see this as a bolt in set up!! might need to change accessories and oil pan and then she will fit a little better . i am waiting for an aftermarket intake to clear stock hood!!! or 1.5 cervini cowl maximum ! dying to feel this power plant in my shell with a lumpy cam it will be like its 1990 all over again

Being that it is at least 120lbs heavier than the stock 302, I bet it has a negative effect on handling and balance. 🤔 Good for straight line drag racing or highway pulls though 👌.

In the video you said that you develope parts, how about a rear sway bar for the fox mustang that will not hang low to the ground when using after market rear lower control arms. All the sway bars that are sold are designed for the stock style arms that fit up into the arms. All you have to do is make a flat style and also have it go around the jacking screws of the MM and others.

i need yalls shop bad. gone are the days for me when it wasnt an issue working on a car outside or using a tree and chain hoist to pull an engine. landlord doesnt understand that stuff takes time and its even that much harder and longer without a garage. he called my fox "junk'' and threatened to have it towed to the junkyard because he didnt like it and "i dont live at a junkyard, i live in a house", he said. i told him I dont have a garage and myself and people like me understand the process of working on vehicles. how it takes time and with no garage i cant work in the rain or at night but he dont care. ironically he accused me of ''disrespecting HIS property'' because i had "junk" sitting around. when during that entire argument he did nothing but disrespect my property calling it junk and what knot. had my fox for 15 years and it physically hurts me that its not with me and running. it was hard enough to get it runningin the first place 15 years ago. (i am renting another small piece of land and storing it there in another town). it got broken into, they busted a window and stole my stereo system, head unit, amp, subs and other things that i had stored inside of it. interior is ruined now and everything.

Cool video guys. Watching the tech draw the transmission on with the bolts made me cringe. That's a good way to ruin a torque converter or front pump. Hopefully everything worked out.

Landon, "Fully-restored" does not mean the same as "resto-modded". It means made exactly like it left the factory. Resto-modded is what you did to that SUPER rare ASC and now, the 7.3L Fox

The Godzilla is narrower at 25.5 inches wide and the Coyote is just shy of 29 inches.

@@latemodelrestoration been having issues with autocorrect on my new iPhone. I’m trying to understand what I asked in the first place, dang it! Lol! I think I meant “since oil pan clearance is an issue for SOME set ups…” I’m just super excited about this motor. I have a ‘59 Fairlane that has an FE right now but due to gas prices and the push of electric vehicles I’m afraid the glory days of BBF and FEs are a bygone era now. I was really thinking about a stroked 351w (408w or 427w) with a Holley injected tunnel ram system. Never heard of this motor. I’m trying to learn as much as I can, subscribing and following everybody I can that is working on this motor. Thank you! 🤘🏻

I’m curious because I got a team z kmember for free and it happens to be an ls swap k member which is a bummer so I’m trying to sell it. I noticed the Godzilla motor mounts are similar looking to the ls mounts. Would those bolt up to a 2v 4.6??

@@sly_foxbody1746 it's good power, but i was hoping for at least 500whp. There are factory cars with less liters making over 500hp at the crank N/A. I should be too with all the supporting mods i have. You'll make good power with a turbo easier.
