Waltz need to give Sarah a pro model, a design that covers all the important aspects she likes, something that ticks as many boxes as possible!
@SarahParkMatott
@SarahParkMatott 18 дней назад
that would be a very indecisive deck 😂 I've made a deck with Open Source skateboards before, and it was so tough to make decisions on deck design haha though, I learned so much about making boards and tech

@@SarahParkMatott I love that you’re getting the opportunity to be doing that, and to learn from it. I‘ve been watching this channel religiously for a while and it’s been incredibly inspiring. I’m a 31 year old girl from Australia who has had several work place injuries and constantly thinking my time may be up on skating, but it’s a passion I’ve had my whole life. Watching your progress has been insanely inspiring, it has reminded me why I love skateboarding so much, and it’s made me realise that even just carving on my board in an empty car park is enough to keep a smile on my face. Thank you, I needed it ☺️

@@livparker3950 ah thank you so much. I am so happy to hear that! Skateboarding can be so tough on the body. Especially when any kind of existing injury is there. But, the best part is we can dial back and find new or different ways to enjoy it and keep it in our lives. So, I’m really glad to hear that. Keep shredding!

It’s great having different boards for different types of skating. I really enjoy my 8” Almost Rodney Mullen (with the Tensor mag lites and 52mm wheels) for flat ground tricks and mini ramp, my gigantic 10” Steve Alba Santa Cruz with 64 mm wheels for skatepark and bowls, my Krooked Ray Barbee for street, and my Mode single kick for stationary tricks. It’s like playing guitar: it’s nice having different guitars for playing different types of music

💯 that's a great point!

My only wish is that freestyle boards weren’t the only way that I was going to get a shorter board! Love Waltz, love your skating. But the marketplace isn’t serving me super well as a shorter skater who would be much more comfortable on something smaller 😂

@yesmaybe630 18 дней назад
You’re obviously not looking around because there are all sized decks out there. You got to familiarize yourself with what each company offers. You will find any size you want.
@box3y
@box3y 18 дней назад
@@yesmaybe630 I’m saying that in general, on an average shop wall, with the majority of brands, it simply doesn’t exist lol. I’m looking for standard 8” decks, but shorter, with short wheelbases.

@@box3y what size wheel base and how long do you want the deck to be?
@SkateboardEnjoyer
@SkateboardEnjoyer 18 дней назад
I feel this, I think that's why the 8.125 option is such a fantastic choice. It has the shorter wheelbase I want to play with and keeps it at a more modern street sizing. Perfect for general street skateboarding too, I wish more did 14 inch versions too at 8.25 popsicles -the ones that are, are very expensive- so I'm right there with ya.
@box3y
@box3y 18 дней назад
@@yesmaybe630 what is the standard length, roughly 31.5-32? Yeah I wanna try like 28 or 29 lol. Wheelbase 13.something. But again, standard width (8”)

I'm fairly short (especially for a guy), and I love smaller boards so much. Both for freestyle and park skating. The better maneuverability and the lower amount of strength that is needed to move the board easily outweigh the upsides of a bigger board for me. I feel like smaller boards are much more responsive, and since it also takes less effort/strength to do tricks on them, I feel like it's not as fatiguing skating them compared to the bigger boards, where every kickflip feels like a workout 😅 Currently I skate an 8 for the park (thinking about downgrading to 7.75 at some point), and have been skating a 7.6 for freestyle, although just today my new freestyle deck from Moonshine (the Denham Hill model) arrived, which is a 7.3. I definitely prefer the new board, the first thing I noticed was how much more responsive and "techy" it feels, footwork like smoothies, reverts or walk the dogs feel much more natural with this one. I tried ollie kickflipping it and almost landed a double flip by accident 😂 So yeah, definitely a fan of smaller boards, I'll stick with the 7.3 for a while.

Oh man...when I was trying kickflips on the 8.25...it was such a workout indeed. That's definitely a huge advantage for the little boards. The tech and responsiveness is out of this world. I'm definitely leaning towards trying the new 7.4 haha So, thanks for sharing! I can see that as a huge plus.

Some absolute bangers in here Sarah, hell yeah firstly ! Secondly I was looking at the exact same thing with the recent sale Waltz had on completes and everything else. I clicked through the 8.125 without thinking too much into it coming from a street 8.25 but on seeing the shipping over here I just couldn't afford it with the tax etc. But it gave me time to think, the smaller wheelbase and widths change so much I think it's one of those you have to try it ! Always fun and learn new things about what you enjoy and what you don't in shapes and hardware.
@SarahParkMatott
@SarahParkMatott 18 дней назад
ah thank you! This session juiced me up for some new possibilities for sure haha And that's too bad. Shipping prices are really wild now. It's so hard to ship stuff---especially anywhere outside of the US. I'm going over again to California for the US open contest...so I'm considering picking up the 7.4 while I'm nearby. Because I do like opening up new trick possibilities with new shapes and sizes

@@SarahParkMatott Ah it's a shame but I think perhaps we are just waiting on a restock over in EU/Ger. Seems everyone is having trouble shipping and stock flow generally just now - gonna def keep an eye on that I think it was 20euro odd from Germany. Love that, new shapes and different sizes do that for me too, new things to skate are never not exciting haha. So many subtle differences, I too from 8.25 on street am looking at the 7.3/4 's. In time I would love to try waltz's 7.75 or that 8.125 they look like a fun mixture of modern street and freestyle, they look fantastic ! Best of luck in the open ! Hope you get one in the size you want and have fun !

@SarahParkMatott

they're skid plates. They protect the nose and tail from wear and tear like razor tail or chips. Just helps freestyle boards last longer with how we skate 😃

You can get an 8.125 and then bust out the jigsaw and make a custom SPM7.6???😂 Kidding - or am I??? You look so smooth doing tricks…nice flow! Thanks as always! Happy skating!

haha well, there is the 7.75 Yuta pro model for a great in between, though the concave, profile and kick angles are different. A few major differences, but will save me the jigsaw 😂
