In the mid nineties when I was in Finnish Army, we had canvas 5-cell mag pouches.
@ozarkbeararms8840
@ozarkbeararms8840 7 лет назад
Neat, were they similar to the Russian? The only ones I've had here have been the 3 cell.
@samikoivisto7705
@samikoivisto7705 7 лет назад
Quite different from the russian ones. They had 3 cells in the back and 2 at the front. And they were quite thick nylon like canvas material.

What’s cool about the Yugo four-cell pouch with the plastic liner,the back two cells are held together with only some thread at the top. Cutting the thread opens it up so it can accept a 75-round drum. As always,a very informative video. Much appreciated.
@ozarkbeararms8840

Yep, those pouches are roomy to begin with and that back pocket really is just a big single cell more than 2 separate ones. I like the shoulder strap too.

Ozark Bear Arms The Commies always like starting troubles, even with the legs of a folding table. Those East German pouches have a nice color pattern. Could it be a Vietnamese or Cambodian pouch?

@@NeptuneBluezI have four cell pouch for 30 rd mags as shown in this video That fits easily into a six cell pouch. (Room for six mags plus the 4 mag pouch.) Both fit into larger bag. All are same design with same style buckles and straps. The camo pattern is the same as shown here. It is East German.

In my personal expirience chineese pouch is the moust practical. They are handy and also offer some kind of frontal body protection. For example Yugo's are heavy, even when u fix them on your belt sling will be preashuring shoulder, and in combat situations they move a lot. Usually Yugo soldiers were ishued with two bags. Sorry for my bad english😉

The chinese drums can be preloaded while not being under tension. That button in the center of the drum when opened releases wound tension on the spring. So you could virtually pre-load the drum and only wind it when you go to use it. Afterwards if you hanv'nt exhausted the ammunition, you can release the wound tension by pushing that button and wind again when needed. It only takes a few seconds to wind it. I'm sure the Soviet type is more durable but I would assume has contantant tension when loaded. Idk.

I too collect mag pouches. My rarest ones would be my 2 cell white leather Polish "gendermeire" (military police) pouch. I have a Bulgarian parade pouch with red trim, a 3 cell Egyptian pouch, and several blue/purple Romanian police/"naval " 3 cell pouches. And finally, a very early 3 cell East German "bluementarn" camo pouch. I have around 50 pouches of assorted countries and variations. Some even have name tags and writing.

@Mishco, @ the 36:30 mark you mention a unknown 4 cell mag pouch. I have the same style though mine is a solid olive with a smooth finish, a thicker white canvas reinforcement inside the front & bottom of the pouches, the toggles are a darker green plastic, and the loops are a lighter olive nylon webbing. The style, and even the stitching appears to be identical to yours, and though I was told it was chinese, and as the toggles remind me of the old wood chinese type 56 pouches further research seems to point to it being Romania from multiple stores, and descriptions. If you have found out for certain I would love to know. I would also love to drive to AR to visit your collection.

I'd like to see more videos on the accessories for the AK rifle, great video Misha, I am odd and really like the history and variations of the mag pouches out there, the Hungarian leather pouches are very nice. The aluminum waffle's had all aluminum parts, I buy and sell bakelite mags and the Russians recycled parts from them into the bakelites, there are aluminum magazine springs, and followers out there, very common to find in a bakelite mag,

I have two East German mag pouches, They are the earlier style typically issued with MPi-KM as opposed to the later one with the compartment for an oil bottle, etc. as you typically see associated with the DDR's own AK-74. Mine are the strichtarn pattern whch I belive came out in the late 60s? I believe mine to be earlier production, however I am not sure. I am filming a video of my MPi-KM themed mutt rifle, and will feature them in that video.

Great vid as usual! I always enjoy the ak vids. The first pouch you showed is actually for a Hungarian AMP-69. The large side pocket is for an optic that was issued with them. These are vary rare, and always in Green, in my experience. I have been looking for one for a Files member for years with no luck. The standard Green Hungy Vinyl 5 cells have a much smaller side pocket. The last pouch is most likely a Romanian pouch built for export during the last Balkans war. There are several types of materiel used in these, all with the barrel and loop closures. I have almost an entire collection of ak pouches. There are listed in the order that I believe they were issued. They can be viewed at the bottom of my Pinterest page by country- www.pinterest.com/tpinfl/ If I can provide anymore info please msg me

Hi Terry, please e-mail me & i'll give you my phone #. I'd love to talk pouches some evening. It is ozarkbeararms@gmail.com . Regarding that first Hungarian pouch, I have more. If they are rare and you want one, no problem. I got them in a big crate of pouches...from Copes I think? about 7-8 years ago. Ditto for Yugo pouches. I've found all kinds of slight but noteable variants/styles among them too. My favorite is the slightly smaller one they did for the M85 and other 5.56mm caliber rifles.
