@Marisela Cronin If you’re young and saving money then your losing money because our government will always keep printing it causing your dollar to lose value because of inflation. It’s better to learn about investing so your money can grow and have a 78% chance against inflation while also growing over “x” amount of time. Also president Nixon took the gold standard off of the dollar bill in 1971 meaning the dollar is just a piece of paper not backed by any gold so if you’re young please don’t save money, learn and read and educate yourself about investing and then invest wherever you choose.

if you don't follow trends and saved your money and spent your money carefully on things you actually liked (for instance, my dad works in the Bay Area and would spend his excess money on wine from Napa and he became a wine connoisseur), then people actually get jealous of you and you get the same kind of high and satisfaction you would anyway get. Or honestly if you're not that vain you could just go spend money on a new or old hobby and just improve your own self.

Money spent on gold jewelry isn’t exactly a terrible purchase, depends on the price of gold at the time, the type of gold whether 14,18, or 24kt, the weight of the item and how much you’re paying. Gold holds its value there’s plenty of people who bought gold jewelry and in years made money passively. It’s not a big waste of money, but things like diamonds, or fake jewelry or anything else of a lesser value is definitely a waste. Gold is like a stock, it’s pretty easy to educate yourself on how gold pricing etc works would take an hour at most. Jus wanted to say my two cents on jewelry.

I just wanted to add that buying preloved items isn’t only so much more environmentally friendly but also helps you weed out bad quality items. A sweater that still looks good after someone else wore it, will last you longer as well. We all bought items that went kaput after just a couple of uses.
@overlyblynn

So true! Some of my best pieces are from thrift stores. If you can tell they've been washed, but still look great, they'll continue to look great for many washes to come. Then I paid 120 EUR for a brand new sweater and it lasted 2 washes... Smh

It all depends on the way you see things. Buying overpriced no. But buying something you actually like to drive is different. When I was 18 I was driving an older car my parents were not using often. I was using it and I liked it, it was fun to drive and cheap to maintain. But eventually I wound up buying my own car at 24, and I enjoy my new car any day. I feel happy just looking at it, taking it out of the garage, i'm happy to drive it and I feel great. Yes it takes me from point A to point B just the same, but it makes me happier than my old car. Eventually I sold the old car because it was giving me way too much maintenance and it was turning out not to be that reliable going from A to B

@@steppy3736 See, I do that for Barnes & Noble gift cards, except I always spend more than the gift card (which is always, like $10 - $20, sometimes not even enough for a single book if it's a hardcover), and so I drop at least $50 from my own pocket even with the card.

sooo guilty of #5 !!! but recently I started doing meal plans and planning my purchases and OMG it's a budget-saver! I'm so guilty of that before when I started tracking my expenses I noticed that's really where my funds are leaking out (lol). i used to go to the grocery multiple times a week purchasing random stuff. when I started budgeting, I started to schedule my grocery runs to once a week, taking note the prior week of what I need to buy (delayed gratification) and just really stick to my list when I get there. i do the occasional splurge like a bag of chips or a chocolate bar, but that's it. i always make sure I dont go over my budget and it has been very helpful to help me save more and resist splurging. 😄😄😄

My favorite Starbucks drink right now is the vanilla sweet cream cold brew, at home I just make an iced coffee with the vanilla sweet cream. You could do cold brew at home but I am too lazy lol. Vanilla Sweet Cream Recipe: 1/2 cup of vanilla syrup (you can buy them from starbucks or tj maxx) 3 cups of half and half 4 cups of heavy whipping cream 2 tbs. of vanilla extract This recipe makes enough for the week. I wouldn't suggest keep the vanilla sweet cream longer than 5 days! Enjoy!
