I thought I read somewhere that Valve actually doesn't like trilogies unless they're positive they can be justified, so they prefer to end at two.

@@psychologisttotheastartes905 I both agree and don't. I mean, I get why that makes more sense for Half-Life than their other franchises. But Valve is pretty awesome at world-building. You could justify telling more story in any of their worlds and I'd be there for it. Also, to be fair, when they said "a third was planned" it sounds like they meant a third HL2 episode rather than an entire third game. If they released either, I'd welcome it. But if they didn't, I think it'll be fun to see what world they think up next.

There's also a Star Wars Annual comic that focuses on the kind of character that would have fit well into this game. It's one of my favorite Star Wars comics of all time and really shows how well an idea like this could work. I don't think he was a regular character, just a random thief that Leia contacts for help with a heist. He's almost like the Star Wars equivalent of a James Bond character who relies on charm and gadgets to make his way. I was hoping Rogue One would have more of that, but a game is another great way of doing it.

@@MarvinPowell1 You got a set of armor that you could customize the color patterns, it's weapon and repulser types, and if it what type of flying it was more geared toward. You got to customize nearly all of the armor and make it something geared to how you wanted it to be. Mine had the ability to fire 13 missiles at once

Hydro Thunder is bigger in my memory than my actual family lol

If you want quirky and fun arcade games, I suggest Avenging Spirit. You play as a ghost who must take down an evil enemy empire and rescue a kidnapped girl...by possessing enemies and using their powersets as your own. Between the difficulty level, themes, and controls...I think it would be best compared to a hybrid between Kirby's Adventure, Rolling Thunder, and classic Shinobi. As a side note, it also has unusually good music for a classic arcade game.

I would have played the Star Trek one simply for the entire original cast being in it. I love The Original Series so much. I've tried to watch TNG, but I just can't get into it.

I ran a Save Secret of Vulcan Fury website back when it was first cancelled. I had gotten some cool but obviously unverified info from folks claiming to be at Interplay. Some of it was actually verified later. The scope changed a lot during development. Starting with 6-8 Episodes, which I was told was pared down to 4. This bit was later confirmed in a article on some video game website I have since forgotten. They were supposed to be as follows: One would follow McCoy on an almost Quincy-like murder mystery One would follow Scotty in an Enterprise Out-of-Control story(Into was shown in one of the trailers) One would follow Spock on Vulcan and players would experience a mind-meld And one would follow Kirk, Spock, and Chekov in a race to stop an assassination The last bit of news that was never verified is kind of a bummer. DeForest Kelley died around the time the game was being made, and I was told he either never recorded or never completed his V.O. for the game. That Maurice LeMarche recorded for McCoy instead. Even though I never saw it verified, it came from someone who sent me some other tidbits that were later verified, so I was inclined to believe it.

There was a really good Babylon 5 fan made game called I've Found Her. Not sure if you can still download it anywhere these days, but if memory serves it was pretty amazing for being a completely fan made game.

@@SolaScientia Check out the 25th Anniversary Game and its sequel Judgement Rites. I'm guessing Vulcan Fury would have been the third game in that series.

@@JohnWilliams-cr2sz Back in the day i founded the group that did the Freespace 2 Mod 'The Babylon Project' was a lot of great B5 mods came out of the death of Into the Fire, but would still have loved the original

And the Lands of Lore series! The first one is a classic, the second not so much, but LOL3 was also an excellent game in many ways despite having some troublesome bugs. With a bit more polish it could've been a big hit.

You might like to know that there’s some free remasters of a lot of those games out there too :)

Man I loved Westwood studios, but I was in it for the point and click adventures, and I was sad when they went all in on RTS. If they hadn't, they probably would have evolved into an elite RPG developer like bioware and not got out of business.

@@supervegito2277 Yes indeed! THE days is right! I think 60% of my fondest gaming memories came from the late 90s early 2000s. I’ve got some games and I wish I could play them with a passion! I have an older PC and I was getting games like Carmageddon 2, hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, hacker, Robin Hood: defender of the crown, and some others. Then my power supply went. I’ve got to get that fixed!

Well, we got the Blue Planet mod, but that too is incomplete. Also, FS3 might hurt the nice ambiguity of FS2 in my opinion.

@@michaelandreipalon359 it's been ages since I've revisited, but fs2 ended with the Sathanas fleet warping away to some random place, right? There's still plenty of exploration to do in the universe. Some new Shivan machinations to discover and foil. Some human-vasudan war to brew.

@@JHBlancs It's implied that they fled to their homeworld, which is ironically the GTVA's object when it came to Earth. Anyways, hope you revisit it via the Open/Source Code Project community and their mods.

Pretty similar to Mass Effect: Andromeda. There was DLC planned that would feature the Quarian ark, but the game bombed, and the story only got told in a (pretty good) tie-in novel.

@@Fools_Requiem - At this point, I'd just be satisfied with a fun game that gets released.. I loved the first game mostly for the story and characters. If they can retain that charm, then it wouldn't have to be some mind-blowing trail-blazing thing.

@@WastedPo It's more like about the choice: a wonderful game that has no sequel or terrible sequel that abused your bright childhood/teenage memories of great original game.

VR will never be as mainstream as regular console or PC gaming due to the extra hardware and space required for it on top of the base hardware additionally motion sickness is going to turn a lot of people off it as well as most of the library being gimmick shovelware designed to entice VR sales

Are you aware of _Star Control Origins?_ Completely different people, and rights arguments (since patched up, at least publicly,) and set in a different universe. On the other hand, it's a bit over four years old at this point, so maybe it doesn't count as 'new.' And, since Toys for Bob weren't involved, it's claim to the name "Star Control" is arguable, even if Stardock does own the IP.
