The Oldsmobile Custum Cruiser which is an 8 seat station wagon with 3 seats at the front, 3 seat in the back and 2 in the boot.

The 80s-90s Ford Taurus wagon with front bench seat, rear bench seat and 2 rearward facing jump seats that folded out of the trunk floor - a midsized car that could seat 8 people. There were also GM wagons that lined the walls of the trunk with seats like a military carrier plane.

Old (60s-80s) American cars had bench seats that could hold 6 adults. Some Wagon versions had a third row on the back, facing backwards.

The opel zafira Mk1 was a minivan the same size as a touran but it could hold as many people as bigger minivans like the galaxy or Sharan. At first it's a 5 seater but if needed you could open the back Hatch and with just a few easy steps you could make use of an extra pair of seats hidden in the floor of the trunk, turning the car into a 7 seater.

There are some 80s Mercedes Station Wagons with 2 backwards facing seats inside the trunk... I think this is pretty cool!

i remember my dad's VW van it was a old one but it had 3 seats in the front, 3 in the middle and a bench in the back that could be folded down, i don't know if my dad added the bench in or if it came with the car all i know is it was a fun can but not as fun as the camper van he had after it, it was a some what old one (my geus is 5 to 10 years old) but it was a camper van when my dad bought it after he bought it however he ripped out all the interior except in the front then he added a 2 benches and 2 chairs in it (he could fit more but he wanted to keep space for big things like bikes, mettle beams etc.) eventually it got better because after a year or 2 the exhaust fell off wils driving on a back road he picked it up and put it in the "trunk" but he never attached it/a new one it sounded like a truck and i loved it

The Honda FR-V also has the 3+3 seat configuration! Oh and the Mercedes Benz E-Class 210 station wagon has a huge seat bench in the back that faces backwards in its trunk, now that's what I call "sitting in the trunk".

My 05 grand marquis along with almost every pickup truck I have been in made since the mid 90s has the 3 seat in the front seating with a fold down center console

Nice Veedub up! - i have a domestic appliance peugoet 207sw 90hp 1.6tdi.... but i have subtlety modded it with black wheels and mirrors (its silver like all the rest) - mainly because im fed up of it havin zero road presence! - people overtake me no matter what...blind bend or even if im speeding! Never ever let out of a junction. Its a great loyal 'donkey' missed several services and never gives me grief with 60mpg also...sure its 0-60 time is 2months but.....its a good donkey.

The Zündapp Janus is a weird one that was not on the list. Its featured just like a BMW Isetta but has another row of seats facing backwards. Almost reminds me of the Subaru Brat in a way. If you look at the car, it looks like you cant tell which end in the front and which is the back.

Nah, it is quite common in my country seating 7 adults in a 4 seaters k-car. Even there are a lot of public transportation consist of micro van that can carry 14 adults, even though it is only 4.2 m long.

What about Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion Mobile? In layout it kinda prefigured the modern minivan by some decades, but was dangerously unbalanced and could hardly be considered a production vehicle. There must be other examples of 'odd' seating arrangements from the earlier years of the automobile. Concept cars and one-offs from any era, too.

How about the Toyota IQ (or the Aston Cygnet, if you're feeling particularly masochistic)? Four seats, but the front passenger seat is sat further forward than the driver's seat, so you can get an actual adult in the back seat behind it.
