I'm going to eat around in Nara Japan. I want to have kakinoha sushi, nyumen and kamameshi. This is episode 6 of 7-Day Food Tour in Japan Episode 1 is here • Solo Eating at Popular... Thanks for watching
Thank you so much STJ-San! Sharing your expireneces with us, and making us hungry each time, is much harder than we might assume. To pick the right place to go, not to mess up, editing, funny subtitles Domo arigato goizaimas!
Such a great video! I woke up feeling a bit low but when I saw your video, it made me feel better. Nara looks such a beautiful city, I love the presentation of the dishes, and the food looked so delicious. That view from the first restaurant was stunning!!! I laughed when the deer rejected you, please keep that sense of humour of yours always present on your videos.
Wow!!! The past 6 days tour, I would have to say my favorite one is on the first class luxury train dining journey that lasted only 3 hours, but my oh my, those dishes you were served were a work of art!! Almost too good to eat and the presentation was exquisite.
Solo-San, I appreciate your showing us each dish and describing it for us. Of course, that only makes me want some!. The chicken and rice looked very good. It was a different take on Arroz con Pollo. The egg with curry also was tempting. Thanks again for a great food tour. I'm making a list of my favorites.
@ 18:42 I found my home..as I was eating beef curry rice and takoyaki from my favorite local place in Houston :) I need to spend some time at San Marco Curry and Beer!
i love your videos so much! they are very relaxing and warm. btw, i want to suggest can you do a halal japanese food tour too? especially around tokyo area but anywhere is fine! i really want to go to japan someday but since i’m a muslim, i’m afraid that it will be hard to find any halal food😢 anyway, thank you so much for your videos, stj-san!
Oh, good, a new STJ video. I love them. My town of Port Townsend, Washington, USA, also has a great many deer. But they aren't as tame as those! Food looks great, as always, though strange to my Western eyes. I wish I could try it some time. I didn't notice a price for the hotel, but typically they are just as nice as most USA motels/hotels and cost less. I always hear how expensive Japan is. Obviously that's just if you only go to the tourist hotels and restaurants.
The most appealing food was the Izasa Tempura Set Meal, the first one, the combination of the Nyumen, Tempura and the Kakinoha Sushi made me crave for some, holy shmolly. Thank you for the video, as always, greetings from Brazil!
I would love to try that traditional wrapped sushi. I did not realize that you do not eat the leaves, I thought it was more like dolmades (stuffed grape leaves)!! When eating kamameshi, is it considered rude or offensive to pour some of the soup/dashi into the rice pot at the end? that is what I would have done in order to get all that delicious rice. I enjoy watching when you get chicken and egg dishes, because I cannot eat chicken or eggs! Oh, my. That was not your usual reaction to a curry dish. It must not have been your favorite!
I see my food dreams Vicariously through RU-vid 😂the things I’m allergic to but want to try, sitting eating my most common meal of rice cakes and banana just doesn’t meet expectations when I’m watching delicious looking fodd lol I can’t have eggs either, evil little things 😂 chicken is a safe food for me usually, with the exception of a massive flare up & my body won’t accept anything.
I wish I saw this when it was posted because I was in Nara three days ago! I would've known where to eat haha 😂 Unfortunately it might be a long time before I return to Japan again but until then I'll love vicariously through your videos
These were my comments from the previous episodes. #1 Everything looked delicious, #2 I wish I knew what was in the soup. It looked delicious. #3 Both your sushi meals were delicious. #4 The pancakes were phenomenal, especially with the toppings. #5 I would have also used the beef stew sauce on the baked potato. #6 The chicken Kama/iron pot looked delicious and something I would have enjoyed. I would also have enjoyed the persimmon cake. This was a interesting food tour, especially showing the Temple. Will definitely see you in the 7th one. Take care, stay safe.
Even though fatty meat actually does make me ill, my favorite episode has to be the Sukiyaki episode. I have several books on Japanese recipes and cuisine. The oldest one has beautiful photographs, one showing a presentation of sukiyaki which says that the charming waitress will instruct you how to set up your pan. I always assumed that was just for the photo. Well, dang, if she didn't! I was delighted to see that.
Finally...first time I watched your previous video in Nara,I'm surprised saw many deer at that place..such a unique place to visit..this time I excited watch it again..keep updated new video sir..loved it😘
I have enjoyed the episodes of the food tour. It is interesting to see the different things to try. I just have to remember to eat dinner before I watch! Thanks for showing us all the great food!
Does one of these 6 episodes cover multiple days of the 7 day food tour? You have been the main influence for our planed visit to Japan in 2025. It is your ferry travel that I first noticed and dreamed of. Thank you STJ & STJ/FT.
oh dear, there's too much wonderful to work through! The luxury train was amazing, though, and some of those curries. Honestly almost everything looked amazing.
Thank you for the video. Thank you for explaining the meals and some of the culture. I will repeat watching it. I would have eaten that Chicken & Rice dish straight out of the pot Then wonder why there is a bowl if you had not shown this. There is several Asian groups moving in our area. Of course, the restaurants advertise. Thank you for explaining it. Are the refills on the coffee free?
That is one rule-respecting nation when even urban deer cross over to other side of the road and remain within the crosswalk. Bravo Japan ! Your citizens are extremely committed to safe and lawful pedestrianism.
Simple answer to your last question of, what was your favourite meal? All of it. As a Londoner I have a desire to visit Japan, if only for its ferries, trains and particularly, all of the different dishes and foods that you have shown over the years. Thank you.
Very enjoyable video. I enjoy the deer and live in a place where we share the town with deer and elk so I know how it feels to be ignored by them. Of all the dishes you showed, I think the katsu curry in Kanazawa made my mouth water the most. LIke you, I'm a sucker for a good curry.
Hmm out of this tour, I would have to say the Kyoto. That tomato looked delicious. Your food tour in Yamagata will still be my favorite. The 2-3 Waygu beef and being able to cook it as you ate it. ❤
I have binge watches all the food series. ❤ May I ask what gear do you use to film? I'm wondering if you're one handed filming the food sometimes. 😂thank you!
I quite liked the look of that kamameshi (like japanese risotto, kind-of?...) Thanks STJ @3:10 for those that don't know: Todai-ji's Daibutsu-den is _the largest wooden structure in the world_ ... Most of it has seen some reconstruction after a couple of major fires, but there are still a couple of bits left from the original structure, _from 794 CE_ !
It is very hard to choose any one episode day. I think everything would be delicious. I enjoy any episode is fun when it involves curry. Your love of curry is infectious. I did enjoy it when you tried all of the apple dishes. Sorry, the deer didn't work out. She apparently doesn't know a real stag when she sees him.
In Japan, it is not uncommon to wear masks - even before Covid-19. It is considered a normal sanitary measure and seen as a courtesy to others to wear one during flu season, when one doesn't feel well, or while in dusty environments. This has been a cultural practice for over a century.
Don’t like persimmons? Because what they gave you in the cake & sushi wraps are not persimmons or it’s leaves. A ripe persimmon is sweet ,soft and pudding consistency. By the way I liked all foods and locations. 👍
4:44 - That is "Kakinoha Zushi" (Persimmon Leaf Sushi) which is a traditional cuisine of Nara prefecture. It is a style of pressed sushi wrapped in Persimmon leaves. 7:49 - The cake features pieces of dried, candied Persimmons.
