Good tip about cooking smaller turkeys versus one large one

I’ve heard of this method but this is the first time I’ve ever seen it. Outstanding!

It’s a good technique. Probably unnecessary if you are cooking one since there is plenty of space on 22” wsm but would be great to hang two small ones and maybe some chickens or ribs.

thank you! glad you liked it. the wsm's are awesome. I almost picked up the small 14" wsm the other day just to have it since it'll fit a chicken or porkbutt in there perfectly..but i am not allowed to get another grill 😞 (...well until I finally buy my offset haha)

Nice video. Appreciate being reminded to do a turkey on the WSM 22. Will give this a go hopefully soon. Been on my list; just busy. God Bless - stay safe.

I know I need to make a turkey video this year, just not sure on what cooker. I think I am going to go old school and cook whole on the WSM.(not hanged)

@@SJCOOKS Well you know I bought the Turkey Hanger from Hunsaker. Had it for 2-3 years now. When I do cook the turkey I will hang my turkey. Btw, where is the blooming thing??? lol - Peace.

thank you! part of the reason I didn't do a turkey video last year because it was the same ole stuff everywhere, so I kinda "boycott" the turkey videos but then it bit me in the butt with views LOL. Really tried to do something different here so I appreciate it. gracias!

Nice cook! I put my kettle lid directly on the bowl of my WSM when I'm done cooking. This helps snuff out the coals quicker.

hey Sal these are some awesome tips, very informative video! Totally agreed with practicing on a chicken - I've never actually cooked a turkey before 'cause it's honestly intimidating, but chicken is way more manageable! The turkey is totally making my tummy grumble right now! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving man! The editing of this video was top notch!

No end of brilliant tips in here Sal! I love the idea of practicing methods or techniques on chicken first, before you get into the big meal day. That thought to work with several smaller turkeys instead of one big one is genius as well! I'd love to try this hanging method... if we get a WSM, this is happening! Turned out perfect! Thank you for this Sal!

Great tips, and this is a great video! (I know I am watching after Thanksgiving) To re-use charcoal,...had a guy blast me in one of my videos for doing! Lol, what a goof! Here is an added tip (in my opinion) Don't use the charcoal for smoking that has the wood particles in it, ..I think it gives dirty smoke? Thanks!
@SJCOOKS
@SJCOOKS Год назад
Thanks for watching Paulie. Not reusing charcoal seems like such a waste! but yes great additional tip. Those fillers some charcoal manufactures use, cannot be good.

If i use a thermometer with the probe wire and have to open the lid maybe two or three times that just allows me to have an extra beer🍺

To everyone here try what he said but eventually try a bit more wood. I personally like 3-7 fist size chunks of wood even on poultry and so has everyone else I’ve cooked for. Can’t go wrong either way. Just experiment.
