Life in the Fast Lane, by the Eagles. Tricky and fun. The riff was actually one of Joe Walsh's warm up exercises and the other guys liked it so much they made a song out of it.

The inside picking on the double stop for the 3rd and 4th notes as well as the maneuvers on the low E always make for a good warm up. Couldn't agree more!

I'm a 32 year on guitar Veteran, and I just love watching your videos. RU-vid is great. My life got in the way of my music career and I really don't have any music friends anymore, so watching your videos is the next best thing to talking guitar with old friends. I think you and Paul Davids have the best channels out there. Keep on trucken dude.

Crazy Train is one of my favorite warm ups. Gets the right hand and left hand synced as well as the timing of the chords then the solo can help get your bends, harmonics, scales and legato fired up.

That's a great one. Another one I've tried using is that early riff from Master of Puppets, whatever it's called (pre-verse?). Anyway, I try to play that lick up and down the neck and on higher strings. Feels kind of awkward but it does help loosen up the fingers.

Crazy Train is an excellent warmup. It was my first introduction to Inversions, back when nobody even knew what an Inversion was. It uses all three 2nd through 4th string Inversions, with a freakin' bass pedal note to top it off. That alone is a good warmup. And then the pulloff sequence by itself is a good warmup. But the speed and precision that you have to have to play it right really brings the warmup all together. The opening Riff is a warmup. The descending Inversions (with the pedal bass note) is a warmup. And the 3 string pulloff sequence is a warmup. Plus, it's catchy as hell. It's a great song. So it's hard to ask for a better exercise.

I bought the spark mini a couple weeks ago. I love it. I use it a little differently. I worked out 4 amps/effects combo's I like to use and saved them over the standard 4 presets. Honestly, I really didn't dig the presets and realized I didn't always want to use the app, so this way I can go right to playing and not screwing around with tones.

I struggle with rhythm a lot, I'm often early or late on the beat, and a riff that helped me is black dog. Playing along the recording forces you to be exactly on time after that long pause where the vocals happen, you almost have to count 8n your head and not just play by feel
@a2ndopynyn
@a2ndopynyn 2 года назад
Here's a great trick for locking in your internal tempo: Set the metronome to half the speed you want to play, and let it be "2 and 4." You have to find 1 and 3 on your own. This forces you to groove; you basically make the metronome's pulse into the backbeat snare drum. Start by playing scales to it, and then try some rhythm lines. And don't forget your triplets and shuffle/swing grooves. (You can, of course, program a drum machine with just a snare hit on 2 and 4, also.) Have fun!

Marigold by Periphery It really makes you stretch and it helps with how well you can move up amd down the fretboard. It also asks for some modulating arpeggios with those stretches. All New Materials by Periphery A really good way to practice string skipping and using open strings to reposition your hand up or down the fretboard. They have some good riffs that make for some great exercises.
