Ran into this problem last week, Too much condensation would build up and trip the pressure switch. Took some time to realize furnace needed slightly more grade, Problem fixed. Happy Concord furnace :)

Sealing the back of the thermostat. Never thought of that. I know the ceiling to wall air definitely mixes. Attic fan re-circulates through the outlets and switches. I don't like to use it for that reason.

I absolutely love your channel!! Everything you talk about, you explain in great detail, and the reasons for this, or that, are very clear after you are done explaining. It all makes sense. I’ve learned so much from you!! Thanks!!

Where i live, 2 pipe systems often have moisture issues if the intake is piped directly over the burner or vertically into the unit. The winter air being pulled in condenses in the upper cabinet and sprays. It wreaks havoc on gas valves flame sensors exposed inducer parts, pressure switches.. Drain wye and/or an offset or swing joint on the intake right before the unit helps. Here HRV are required on any building built post 1992, if you decide to install a furnace with exhaust only, the HRV can be balanced to help. Ive had customers with houses cleaner than the outdoors, no issues from intaking air indoors; insulated mechanical room with an HRV (not simplified) and make-up air if needed.

Interesting! Where are you located? Yeah as long as you have HRV or ERV, its ok.

@@acservicetechchannel Southern Ontario, Canada. Also find it intriguing you guys use galvanized down there in certain situations. It's not allowed on gas here. And when running flex inside walls we're to leave it UNSTRAPPED like gastite for example. So that if someone were to accidentally drive a screw into the gastite, the tubing can move away from the screw. Ive heard in some states its supposed to go into conduit inside the wall?? Seems alien to me lol. keep up the great videos

Most of the time swapping a mid efficient for a high efficiency furnace, there’s a combustion air pot previously installed beside the furnace or in the same room. Which then it is called “non direct vented” application, drawing combustion air from that source, as well as the water heater. If no combustion air pot then must have intake and exhaust pipe installed to outside with furnace called “direct vented” application.

Absolutely good tips and love the channels and thanks for you your great work

Lownox furnaces with no combustion air pipe would cause the flame sensors to get dirty faster cuz it'd be pulling in "dirty" air from the space its in, basically putting contaminants on the flame sensor.

Yeah, its not great if the furnace is in the crawlspace, thanks!

Many years ago, it was common to see buildings with free air returns. Is this no longer the case or acceptable in the national bld. codes? Thanks for great video's.

It is not normal unless there is special circumstances where it makes sense to do so. However, there are not usually actual codes that say you can't do it.

Do you really do a heat load heat loss on every furnace you install?

Check our Wrightsoft software. No matter where you go, its going to be expense but there may even be apps that can help with it now. It comes from the ACCA Manual J book.

Same for range vent hoods and bathroom vent fans. 600 CFM for those in my home, sucked in from outside.
