I do not want to look at any candidates. We need to win this year which would mean Ulbrich is the HC. That is the only situation I want. If we are looking at outside candidates then the rest of this season is going to be painful

I want us to give Ben Johnson a blank check in the off-season. Feel like we have similar personal to run the lions type offense. However the real problem is ownership. Vrabel should be 1, I think there is a good chance Bills move from McDermott if they have another early playoff exit. He has underachieved with Josh Allen. Hiring someone with experience is the way to go, rather than a new HC who usually takes time.

I would like an offensive minded head coach, we have the defensive side of the ball set with Ulbrich. Let's give the offensive side of the ball some love. My favorite choices to fix the offence are Ben Johnson, and Bobby Slowik

i cant say the outcome of Monday, but I do have a very strong feeling the players are going to come out and play their absolute asses off to make a statement about the change. as well as jetlife loud AFFFFF for his first game. one thing I will for sure be watching is the penalty count. but dude, watch this be the game Breece, Sauce and Big Q turn it around and return to form. stay safe out there brotha!

I totally agree the palyers need to play lights out 110 % effort (including Sauce Gardner making fucking tackles not like a pussy) If I seet that and if the Oline moves the ball then I am all in on Ulbrich. Lets look at HC with success under 3 criteria: 1. HCs with 4+ years as the HC of their current team 2. HCs with less than 4 years as the current HC of their team but with 4+ years as HC for another team 3. HCs with less than 4 years as the HC of their current team but have been to the playoffs. On defense you got 5 HCs that match at least 1 of those categories. On offense you have 15 HCs. Three times as many offensive HCs have been retained 4+ years, or coached somewhere that had them for 4+ years, or have made the playoffs before their 4th year as a HC. This is why I would prefer an offensive minded HC over a defensive one. It seems like it's easier for an offensive HC to fix or overcome defensive issues than it is for a defensive HC to fix or overcome offensive issues.

@jetscentral Glad you're safe bro. Out of the Defensive Coaches you have listed, for me it's Vrabel, only one that can bring toughness/culture and can get along with the QBs. I really would prefer an offensive minded HC. Ben Johnson, Sloan or Kubik the OC from New Orleans.

Im glad we get to see first hand what ulbrich has. He was a HC candidate and we wete concerned losing him. One coach that would be interesting would be mike Tomlin, lets see what happens after this season.

All of the above would be a significant upgrade from what we’ve had for the past several years

If Ulbrich can go 8-4 with an aging QB, I'd say keep Ulbrich.

Hi Ian! My preference is to hire somebody internal -either Jeff Ulbrich or Ron Middleton, id go with those 2 first then proceed with external hiring. Mike Vrabel is somebody id consider if we fail to hire internal. Thanks

I really hope Ulbrich turns out to be the answer. But the fact that Woody picked him, makes me have some serious doubts. One thing I will say is that I am shocked that the Jets didn't make Ron Middelton the interem head coach. The defense is the best thing about the Jets. So why screw with that? I would also not discount the college ranks. Kirby Smart and Dan Lanning would be at the top of my list in January.

Wouldn’t mind a proven or older guy like Vrabel or Ulbrich, with a very young savvy OC like Will Stein, current Oregon OC

I believe the right coach for the Jets is Rich Bisaccia. In 2021 he took over a highly dysfunctional Raiders team just 4 games into the season and got them to the playoffs. Then they nearly beat the super bowl bound Bengals in the 1st round at Cincinnati. He would instantly have Aaron Rodgers respect and approval. In 2023, Rodgers was asked in an interview on the Pat McAfee show what makes a good coach. Rodgers used the opportunity to endorse Green Bay’s special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia as a deserving head coaching candidate. “If anyone ever called me as a reference, one name that has been floating around out there, who I would give a ringing endorsement to, is Rich Bisaccia. I’m a tremendous, tremendous fan of his,” said Rodgers. Rodgers went on to rave about Bisaccia’s coaching style, calling him the “prototypical leader” who would rather be respected than liked. The four-time MVP considers that personality trait as something that can be hard to find in today’s head coaching search. “There’s not a lot of Rich Bisaccia types out there,” he said.

We need to hire someone who is a LEADER OF MEN in a sense of holding players feet to the fire and having players respect the process .. We can’t hire based on schematics or the success of their unit (offense/defense) at other organizations .. Gase was supposed to be the Offensive Guru .. Salah was clearly a Players Coach who picked up the Energy at 1 Jets Drive but sadly didn’t have it in him to hold players accountable .. We need a General, someone who’s not afraid to call out players in the film room & practice field .. Great teams have coaches where the players don’t want to disappoint him .. Woody Johnson can’t afford to get this one wrong.

The problem with any HC hire right now is they will have to bow down to AR. Thats going to be a problem. If i had to choose i would go with mike vrabel. But get a good OC. Going to need a good oc to help develop qb and handle the offense.

Your list starting at Vrabel is a good one. My thoughts are this: 2. Vrabel I think would get along with most of the team there. 3. Pete - IMO is not a good fit. I Think he has shown that he has made big errors with how he's treated certain players and it caused issues. * I don't think the Jets are a good fit for your number 4. 5. Flores is a GREAT coach and like him for the Jets. 6. No to Kliff he needs to show he can build something sustainable. Obviously if the "hoodie" wants to get back in it he'd be a good fit for you guys. Stay safe my man and hope all is well.

This is Ulbrich’s audition. I doubt he’s replaced if he does well. Honestly I don’t believe Rodgers is returning..we should’ve traded for Justin Fields when we had the chance.🙄

IMO, Vrabel and Kingsbury will have other less controversial coaching options. The Jets are not a preferred franchise for the top coaches.

Some candidates the Jets should consider and I’ll rattle some off Steve Belichick (yes I know he just started coaching college football and is in Washington but I don’t care he shows a lot of promise). Mike Vrabel, Brian Flores, Ben Johnson (will be hard to pry away from Detroit), Todd Monken and lastly Jeff Ulbrich (we shall see what happens with him now so time will tell) anyone else have any recommendations?

My personal pick is Kliff Kingsbury because of what he’s doing with Jayden Daniels and I’ve had enough with defensive coaches we need an offensive minded coach who will fix the offense.

If he gets fired after this season I would want Mike McCarthy as head coach, he’s won a Superbowl, he has a very good winning record with the Packers and Cowboys.

I'll give you two more wild cards. Don't think it'll happen. But Klint Kubiak, OC of NO, and Todd Monken, OC of BAL. Kubiak, while the offense hasn't looked as dominant as of late, he still completely changed that offense to better fit his key guys, son of a SB winning coach who has probably passed knowledge on what it takes to get there, he's a wild card. Monken, has HC experience, Nation champion OC in Georgia, offensive mind. Again, I don't think he'd be a big choice, not a HR candidate that Woody might be looking for, but a name to think about. My personal list is 1. Johnson 2. Vrabel 3. Slowik 4. Flores 5. Kubiak. That's just my list if we do move on from Brich. But the other thing we have to talk about, who's the GM going to be? The GM and HC need to have a great relationship. Whoever that is will be very telling of potentially his preferred choice.

As the HC Ulbrich should have more input than his predecessor did. He should cut down on penalties. Vrabel would be a good choice. He's a tough guy, Jets won't have as many penalties. Every candidate has drawbacks. Pete Carroll was a Jet HC. He was fired because the owner wanted to bring in Rich Kotite. Pete Carroll went on to be a really great coach. Don't want a coordinator that first has to learn to be a HC. Flores is a good man and he has HC experience. Flores is everything that Saleh wasn't. Flores will certainly cut down on penalties. Kingsbury played for the Jets. Some experience as HC. Can develop a QB. Offense will score a lot of points. Air Raid Offense. That might make Wilson happy.

If he gets the team rolling then yes he should get thr job next year.
