From The Darkness is an amazing game! Personally, I think there was history about all these events. I suppose it was even linked to 1930s years in the Soviet Union, when it was really dark. And probably his granddad did bad things. The pictures in the apartment show interesting facts, where one of them portrayed some mass murder. There are lots of details. Even who are those ghosts in the apartment? Those who were murdered? And interesting, but the game is short, though it has lots of additional information about what is happening in the game. I finished it in 1,5 hours or something, though it was frightening. Especially in the beginning.
I really agree, so many hidden details in the appartments. I forgot to talk about the pictures in the video even though they are one of the darkest elements in the setting.
@@KazzaGamesTV oh, yeah. Those dark pictures with darkness in their eyes. Really creepy. And that moment with darkness and going to that sound... creepy.
yo when that thing runs after you in the apartment part.. LMAO NOPE (heavy breathing and f***** up noises XD). You should try ''Wounded'' it's an indie game, but tbh pretty cool and scary.
@@xImmortal666 finished. So, I got bad ending with being shot by police (?). Not bad game, got some creeps, especially the last one. Thanks for recommendation.
I'm currently playing through this right now. I did Rakens chapter first and thought, "huh, this is pretty spooky but I can pull this off". I gained some confidence after beating that chapter and started Lucy's chapter next. Holy shit man, I'm having such a hard time finishing this section. I'm a seasoned horror gamer and this is pushing my mind and anxieties to their absolute limits. This is the first horror game that I need to force myself to push through due to the complete dred I'm experiencing. Ngl I can't wait till it's over lol.
@@metaljaweddevil Lucy's chapter has one of the most terrifying moments I've experienced in a videogame (involving the light switches) because of how much it affects your gameplay and source of protection
the game number 1 is literally a masterpiece and I couldn't spend more than 10 minutes in it. The only reason that would make me finish it is if I got paid to do it lol. It's one of the few experiences that surpass the intensity of P.T.. Being in the apartment is scary even without anything happening. The developer who made it is so underrated.
@@sleeplessnightsofficial6334 I picked up outlast bundle 3 years ago and my play time is 1hr in both of them. The only horror game I have completed is Metro series because we have guns in those games. I get scared in bloodborne too 😂😂 but I like watching gameplays of scary games
From the darkness is insane. I didn't play it, but watched a streamer playing it and I had to take a 30 min break before finishing! The apartment is absolutely terrifying!
LOL. That game was great. I loved every minute of it. So spooky! About half way through I was pretty convinced that you cannot die in the game and it was all just scare tactics. I love the tall monster man that lurks in the bedroom. He is super scary lol.
I played "from the darkness" and it was sick! One of the creepiest and scariest games I've played, however it gets less scary in the end. The scary bit is when you're trapped in that apartment.
@@WolfstarGaming1 Just start a RU-vid video full game and when you don’t know what need you do in the game just watch in RU-vid that part what Where you are and continue the game!
OK, I'm gonna admit it, that moment at 24:21 legit made me jump, kick my desk, and back pedal in my chair, almost all at the same time. That was a damn adrenaline rush from hell.
keep these videos coming, this is the best presentation of indie horror games I've seen in a while. Also there are dozens of amazing indie horror games that didn't get any attention, so it would be good to recognize them in such videos.
@@garrett3726 Oh man idk where to even start with how much that game messed me up. I got the bad ending and stayed up half the night wishing I were an entire swat team.
@@beardeddragon9255 the bad ending was super messed up. I like dark stuff but that was DARK. It’s even worse because you’re playing as an 11 year old kid
That outro touched me more than I expected, when I hear other people say "stay safe" it just goes over my head but then I heard you say "and dont push yourself too hard".. bro that hits different.
I remember the ps2 title called SIREN or FORBIDDEN SIREN. That was one of the hardest and scariest games i ever played. Sure there are other like silent hill but Siren takes you to another level. It non linear and you play with dozen charachters all intertwined at some point.
Oooh yeash! Siren! Although, I prefer the sequel because it gave a clear hint on how to complete secondary mission. Also, the "re-imagine" of Siren on PS3 wasn't too shabby at all. Just lack of secondary mission/re-play ability.
Ok here we go . 7- indicted , ( 2:10 ). 6- exorcist, (5:07), 5-rise of insanity, (7:12), 4- oxide room 104 , (10:43), 3- the beast inside (13:14), 2- 9 child's street (17:29) , and 1- from the darkness ,(20:31).
Like it's fully marketed as a horror game, with disturbing trailers and all, but when you play it it just keeps you on your toes and thats it. That would be amazing
There is one like that. A Slenderman game that I watched Markiplier play. All through it, not a single jumpscare, but there is always the lingering feeling that it’s just around the corner
I played and finished all of them except number 4. I wouldn't say it was a walk in the park for me but I made it. If I had to choose one as the best I would pick 'The Beast Inside'. It simply contains all the elements (spooky atmosphere, amazing graphics, great story and a dynamic protagonist with incredible voice acting that makes you feel his mental instability). It's also the longest indie game I ever played and it takes around 5 hours. Indicted looked like a game that has potential but I feel that the developer didn't have a plan beside the nice visuals.
From the Darkness reminds me a lot of Layers of Fear, where you basically wait until a scary thing appears until you can proceed and/or rooms rearrange throughout. I never played From the Darkness but I remember the first play through of Layers of Fear was terrifying.
I was like, "Wow, I wanna try to do some of these!" Then remembered most horror games have flashing lights in them. So if somebody could cure this seizure thing and help a brother out, that'd be appreciated
i played from the darkness on my stream, and yeah, its one of the most scary games i ever played, the soviet flat, creepy furniture, small place with a few rooms and yet so much to explore and to solve, for me,its #1 indie horror game
I couldn't finish Visage, myself. I liked the game, but when a horror game is constantly intense and there's no break from it at all, I just can't keep up with it. I actually find it exhausting. I like the ebb and flow of a game that is horror, but I'm not constantly on the edge of a jump scare (which I do like occasionally, when they are earned). I guess it's the pacing I enjoy better. I'm willing to give almost all horror games a try, but whether I keep up with them is another story! I did enjoy all out Outlast/Outlast 2/DLC and the newer RE games. All that said, I wish more of these games were on console.
It's interesting how many people stated that they couldn't finish Visage, it's really one of the most intense horror games ever created. The next video will be about the scariest horror games of all time and Visage will definitely be in the top 3.
Very good video... love indie horror games... FROM THE DARKNESS is on top of my list too.. absolutely disturbing and creepy game... amazing atmosphere and sound effects. Cant wait for next video.
i played the beast inside few months ago and the story got me hooked in, heck it's one of the few recent games in my library that got me excited to finish my work to play it
As soon as you escape that area in 'From the Darkness', the game goes downhill from there and isn't as scary. It was better as a demo because it ended there. Why isn't 'Visage' on here? It is the only horror game I haven't finished because it was too horrifying. Actually didn't even get past the first chapter.....
@@Amp661 I finished Visage, and I don't really understand all the love it gets. I found it good and creepy for a while, but before long fear gave way to irritation, and I just wanted it to be over. Like, the first few times the lights turn off on their own, it's damn scary. The 100th time, it's just annoying. However, it is worth playing just for the kitchen appliance scene. That was one of the most mind-bogglingly hilarious things I've ever seen in a game.
All of these games were amazing/scary... I really enjoy Beast inside i want more games like that. Last year Madison was my fav game it was really good i am replaying it again on hard mode right now.
It's definitely one of the scariest games he's ever played. Would love to watch him play through some of these others as well, minus _Oxide Room 104,_ of course, since he already played that one.
It would be cool if the game autosaved, so it looks like something is gonna happen but nothing does. It'd keep you on your toes the whole time, and then maybe the second time it autosaves you would just dismiss it as a joke, and then, BOOM! A chase sequence or something. Whaddya think?
As someone who have been playing and watching horror games and movies (and i mean really hardcore stuff, from crimes to sci-fi, to demonic entities to more...) i can tell you this, they have a really really bad impact on your mental and emotional health later in life, i started getting into horror stuff when i was 12 anything dark and scary i loved it kept digging too deep for more but after 12 years when just stopped, it all came in, really bad nightmares, confusion bad emotional control, it just was really bad took me couple of years to settle again. Even though i still like dark themes, but I know where to stop now, ya know drawing lines for yourself is always helpful.
i’ve noticed this too. i was desensitized to horror and gore for a bit growing up since i had consumed so much content that consisted of those themes. but i’d have sleep paralysis episodes nonstop for about five to six years and i was incredibly depressed. after i stopped watching back in 2020, those sleep paralysis episodes have stopped (and it used to be a nightly basis). and i’ve gotten somewhat better mentally.
@@p.enelopeyeah i had sleep paralysis as well, but i used to take naps during the day so i would have them during the day too. It was awful. But yeah too much of anything is never good.
There are more horrible games that make everyone jump, feel unsafe, desperate, anxious and watched: - Visage - Layers of fear - Madison (I almost cried and feel sick lol) - Remothered: Tormented fathers - Martha is dead - Outlast - The mortuary assistant - Lazaret - Within skerry - Summer of 58 - Devotion - The ghost train - Never again - God's basement - Deca - Infliction - Among sleep - Root of evil: the tailor - Precipice - A girls fabric face
Thank you for reminding me that I own the Beast Inside. I have to figure out how to play it because for whatever reason I can never get it to start up. Would have refunded it, but I bought it in a sale and forgot about it for a while and now I think I'm out of my window.
EXP War Trauma was one of those games that I didn’t play personally, but even watching it gave me serious anxiety. I’ve been playing horror games for a long time so I don’t feel fazed by them much these days, but that one got me.
@@vilagistene2939 I honestly didn’t connect with Visage. The set up was probably the most effective part of the game, but the rest was fairly standard. I know it’s quite popular, but it didn’t do much for me.
All of these games look like UE5 asset flip walking simulators without a failed game state. If people haven’t been able to finish them, it’s because of boredom.
So I'm now midway through a playthrough of the no 1. game and I have to say it is more terrifying than any studio produced horror game I have ever played. Really wanted to finish it in one sitting but it was too intense so I am now delaying finishing it. Maybe next day.
I love horror games so much but can no longer play them unless I have someone with me to reality test every now and then. Just a psa but the newer games and improved graphics can trigger psychosis in those with history or active mental health disorders that include similar symptoms.
I'm surprised P.T. didn't make the list since a lot of these games seem VERY much based off of P.T., expecially From the Darkness. Makes me also surprised Visage didn't make this list either.
Im just a bit worried about the state of modern horror games where it seems like developers, both big budget and indie, feel that they can only make effective horror if its a first person game with FPS controls that feels like a haunted house simulator. Not thats not a good time, but after big hits like Amnesia, PT, and Resident Evil 7, that all did the formula in unique ways, now its the vast majority of the horror content we're getting and its wearing thin.
yeah, you're right. i guess that the concept of a house, which is supposed to be a place where you feel comfortable, is full of stuff that comes out of nowhere and can't be explained rationally. it just works for the vast majority of people, but others like me and you can see the repetitiveness. even though they put efforts and the games are good, horror games in general are just like this, you can play them once and that's it. they also rely a bit too much on jumpscare, which is just exploiting our fight or flight instincts.
The only few games that I like are amnesia, penumbra and outlast. All other "horror" games are games that I don't really like. I dunno why, but these few games are "milestones" in this genre for me.
@@KazzaGamesTV haha ok wow, I was thinking I was crazy if it wasn’t. It’s such a creepy sound, but I hate when developers just jack sounds from other games. Thanks for the response!
Now I'm not doubting that these are good and scary games. I'll probably play them at some point. But after beating Visage none of these look like they're on that level. Visage is the scariest horror game I've ever played and its gonna take some serious chops to bring it off its throne
No other game disturbed me like the original Silent Hill. I wish there was a remake with better controls, they are atrocious. And that's coming from someone who still enjoys playing the PS1 Resident Evil games. But the story, the locations, the atmosphere, the characters and their fates, it is so incredibly dark and terrifying.
You should definitly make a list more where you include Trenches. That game is in my opinion, one of the scareies Indie survial horror games out there. 😱 Keep up the good work. 😁👌
The Impatient and FNAF VR I have on my PS they are both soo dang terrifying. I will say it's big, generic and very well known, but FNAF VR no matter how many times I play I'm ready to have a heart attack....
I streamed From The Darkness during Halloween 2022 and it was an experience I will NEVER forget 🤣 that game is solid. I have a video on my channel that has all of the jumpscares in it. It was probably the most intense game I played last spooky season and I played A BUNCH of games.
Add shadow corridor to the list. I hardstucked at the congregation of souls level for longest time because i was so fking terrified i decided to never touch that game ever again.
cheap jump scares could be even used in porn movies to make you insane, i wish we get great horror games like SH, a true horror instead of cheap jumb scares but thanks for the video
The Evil Within Laura , Women With More Heads Boss Fights & The Beast Inside Chapter 4 Boss Fight I Got Terrified , Feared & Frightened Much 😳😳😳👻👻👻😱😱😱👍👍👍
