I’m loving this new vibe and the topics you are going over 😁 Love the discussion around how “hard” it can feel to make money. It’s so multifaceted in that if we feel one aspect of our life is difficult, another may very well be feeling similar and there won’t be any room for flow. It is interesting how when we let go of expectations of a specific outcome, our perspectives shift.

Hi Jennifer I watched one of your previous videos…. My last job was a sales and marketing company which was one of those “family” jobs 🙄. They scolded me for not going to the work socials, not being present on non work days. Either way it left me in a 3month depression which I recently have gotten out of. Thank you for your words
@JenniferBrick

The isolation and gaslighting is so hard to deal with in those situations. I'm glad you've gotten out of the depression (I'm getting out of a bout of that myself)

Those blsht jobs probably trick you to think you can make $150k a year and you are paid commissions...

@@fateindustry I’m 20yrs old. They allure young fresh out of high school, fresh out of college young people and take advantage out of them. Even the advertisement of the job was deceptive. They advertised it is a “customer service representative”, when in reality it was a door to door sales role

It’s great that you’re giving advice beyond the initial job hunt! I actually used quite a bit of your advice to land a well earning job I’ve wanted for many years now! But the most recent challenge is finally getting my finances under control (especially with inflation!) keep up the great work, your audience truly appreciates it!

I have aimed for high salary jobs, but I found that they stress me out a lot. They will make you work harder. Then of course body depreciates faster. Would you buy a car which was driven as taxi or as company car ? No, you would buy a car which was sitting in garage behind flower pots. I would recommend reducing costs and finding job with normal work/life balance.

I need to work somewhere else to make a lot of money. My current job is executive stress at clerk's pay with no career development. I've started reading your excellent book though. ☺️

Go for it! I quit a dead-end job not too long ago. These jobs come with little pay, high requirements, high levels of stress, and very little respect from coworkers and/or upper management. It's not worth it for your mental and physical well-being in the long run. After I hit rock bottom - mentally, that is - after a colleague of mine died and nobody mentioned anything about her anymore, I decided to not give in my contentment anymore, and start my job search. Life is short. Keep moving on!

I agree with you about money. It is whatever brings you utility. For years, I deprived myself of the occasional coffee when I was out because I thought it was a waste of money, even though I enjoyed them. I was watching the channel "How money works" and he said despite what some say that if you skip the morning coffee at Starbucks and invest the money that you will be a millionaire, he calculated you will only have about $150k
@JenniferBrick
@JenniferBrick Год назад
Latte shame is an example of "I wouldn't spend more than $2 on a coffee but neither should you." But it misses the point: it's not just a latte. They can be an excuse to take 10 minutes away from your desk because you need a moment, a networking opportunity, or just a little luxury that brings you joy and elevate your mood - and these all have compound effects too.

Hey Jen! #TRUTH in this vid all the way!! There is a huge correlation between integrity & money. If they think they can get away with low-balling you then they can get away with overloading you with extra work for free - been there, won the t-shirt. AND if they state the job is $X amount & then in the hiring package it's lower, same deal, they're not sticking to their word (unless they simply made a mistake, which I'm hesitant to believe). And yes, $5K IS a lot of money, a job I had taken offered me a lower salary which I countered, & they gave me what I asked for. I saved that money & bought a used Toyota with cash for $5k, almost the amount I asked for, & that car lasted YEARS without issues. So yes, it's OK to make more money, money isn't bad, it's how we use it no matter what we make. Love this vid!!!

Hi, Jennifer. Would you be interested in receiving Payscale's Gender Pay Gap Report for 2023? It goes live next week but you could get it early if you might do a video on it. We need people like you to help explain pay gaps and why even small gaps are not acceptable, esp. systemically in a manner that is illegal.
