Always go for 1 or 2 bedroom standard view at Aulani. Those are very competitive around Xmas and new years, even for owners.

Oh why the standard view? Do you just not find the points upcharge worth it??

I'm a brand new DVC member (still waiting for my emails from Disney to get access to my points!) and this video series has been so helpful the past few months as we finalized our plans to purchase our resale contract! Thanks! 🙂

I would love to resort hop on a long vacation. But resort hopping is a great plan for a couple of people, but multiply the party by two or have 10 in a grand villa then you have too much stuff (including food) and too many people to make changing rooms feasible. My family would leave me if i even tried to change rooms to either another grand villa or two 2-bedrooms units. Happy to say i am one of the 6 people to have a BW grand villa the 2nd week of December!!!! I was lucky this year to get it.

Oof yeah for bigger groups I can't imagine moving resorts more than once, and it would depend on the ages too. I think you've got some younger grandkids in tow (? sorry if I'm wrong!), and that's so very different than a larger party where everyone is like 14 years old and older moving rooms. Also even just risking booking two grand villas?! That sounds stressful lol. Just that one booking day would be enough excitement for me, thanks! But omg congrats on the BW villa. That's amazing!!! A dream. I know you'll have an amazing time, but I hope to hear about it too :)

I have to say, this video is absolutely a gem. I’ve been thinking about purchasing direct or even resale and availability is so spotty, no thanks. I wish I would’ve seen this when I bought a 250 point direct contract a year ago and realized even at the 11th month mark it would be difficult to find what I wanted.

Ah dang! If you don't mind me asking, what room type(s)/resort were you hoping to snag? I've not had issues at 11 month, but I'm also not trying to get grand villas or dedicated two beds... things with low inventory. Have you sold off your contract, or are you finding ways to make use of it?

In the beginning stages of researching DVC. Video Idea: Explanation of points and the process on how you allocate them for your trip based on point chart. How do you handle points in which you have maybe 1-6 points left in annual allotment? It’s not enough for a 1 night trip. Are the only options to rent them or bank them?

Hi there! Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure I have bandwidth for something like that, or know how to make it interesting to be honest, but in case you personally are searching for an answer I don't wanna leave ya hanging, so see below! Yeah so for example I just had 2 points leftover from a vacation, and I'll plan to bank them into the next Use Year for my next trip. You can also combine them with some One Time Use Points if you just want to stay for a night or so (a good method to tack on 1 extra night in a studio, if that works for your travel party size). I've not rented points myself, but I would think renting a small number of points won't work. Renters are also trying to get rooms for their entire vacation, typically at least 2 nights but it's not uncommon for folks to want the full week. If you were going to rent with the notion of utilizing a small number of "leftover" points, you'd probably need to be willing to rent those points plus a chunk of (or all of) your next Use Year's points... in which case, this becomes effectively similar to just banking those points for yourself/your next trip. For me, I have found that we bought a smaller sized contract to avoid the situation you're describing. I never end up having to bank points because I'm using my full allocation and borrowing some/all of the next Use Year's for the trip we take, haha. I think a lot of DVC owners would agree with the sentiment... once you have points, it's hard not to use them... and then you find yourself wanting more points hahaha Thanks for checking out my channel, cheers! And best of luck with your research. If you have questions, feel free to drop a comment wherever and I'll try to help out :)

Hi Jacqueline--Happy Sunday. Thanks for this detailed information. You know, I don't understand what is meant by BW garden view, sometimes called the Village Green. Is it that grass off the Lobby by the shops, or the grass in front to the resort? The whole thing confuses me. Obviously, I was not in Atlantic City in 1900, but I don't imagine there were lawns at any of those grand hotels. Paris was so great I've already booked a plane ticket for next February! DLP was a lot of fun as always. TZTT was crazy! They must have dropped us a dozen times! Hyperspace Mountain, while unfortunately featuring artwork advertising something called the Baltimore Gun Club, is a really great ride. It feels more like a combination of RRSA and GG:CR than anything reminiscent of SM in either WDW or DLC. IASW looks like Buzz Lightyear. Too neon for for me. WDW for the win there. Pirates is superior to ours. There's a fun roller coaster based on Indiana Jones that may be new. I'd never seen it before. And I bought some great magnets. Not so fun fact--I wanted to check out the newly renovated Disneyland Hotel but you are not allowed inside without a reservation to stay there, dine there or shop there! Whoa! Not nice! Makes the GF look a lot more democratic suddenly! Hope you have a great week, Jacqueline!

BWV is so sprawling that I think garden view is just a catchall for everything that is not so bad its standard and also not boardwalk. Mostly greenery, could be pools, I think it really runs the gamut. I generally don't think the garden views are worth the points upcharge, but if you're playing the waitlist game I usually will do it since I know inventory is way higher and therefore rooms should be less competitive than standard view. Omg February! YAY! Let the countdown begin, again! So good to hear your brief recap. Their small world is SO colorful. I enjoy when there are appreciable differences, but yeah then we all have our favorites lol. Mine is Disneyland (CA) I think. I'd have to think about it more tbh. But yeah their Pirates is definitely better than WDW. The Indy little coaster was there when I went! I don't know when it got put it, but I rode it and boy that track is rough so I don't think it's terribly new haha. Oh yeah I saw the new hotel was having like a 'reservation' system for folks who weren't staying there. I didn't look into it much. Seems odd.. I guess they're trying to keep crowd levels down, which I get to an extent, but to not even be allowed to walk in and grab a drink, take in the vibes? Very lame.
