Mr.Clean,(where's Ms.Clean) Magic eraser ,Tried and true sprayer,Trudy,Truray..[if named already,.what is it . Do you not use bag,for bathroom trashcan.... why/whynot
That's a horrible idea! You are not supposed to reuse product bottles (especially cleaning products). That's a fundamental rule you learn in High School chemistry.
Anyone else shocked that she didn't say "microfiber cloths"? I thought that would've been #1 honestly. :) love these videos I think I have officially watched EVERY video so far.
Even if she plugged her microfiber cloths, I wouldn't be mad about it. I can't afford Maker's Cloths, but I switched to microfiber and ditched the cotton cloths for 99% of my cleaning around the house. Would never go back.
Harley hi she is not silly she wants to plug her stuff money money shrewd business women . She did not even know what a all purpose cleaner was when she started
LOL I thought she just left it there for a minute while she went to get something.🤣🤣🤣 But now that you mentioned it, it is an excellent way to dry a toilet brush.👍
Expensive but i love my Roomba. I'm in a wheelchair so I give it instructions from an app on my smartphone. I actually run it 2x a day. With 4 dogs, my floors can get dirty quickly. Plus its fun to watch chihuahuas attacking it or running from it.
I have serious hip problems so standing up for cleaning is an issue. I had my first Roomba in 2015, and now I have 2 so I don't have to clean them so often. Also have a frenchie and three cats, and the floors are mostly clean running them alternate the whole week. They're a serious investment but the return is wonderful!
It's important to think about the kinds of disposable gloves you use while cleaning. For instance, one of the most commonly-used gloves are latex-based disposable gloves, which are usually used in food prep jobs. The best gloves to use for cleaning, in my opinion, are nitrile gloves. The main difference between these two gloves, is that the food-prep (typically latex-based) gloves only protect what you touch from the possible germs on your hands, not the other way around. Nitrile gloves are key when handling harsh chemicals, and/or bodily fluids such as blood because they protect your hands from harmful substances or contagions. Working in hotels has taught me the importance of knowing the difference between these kinds of disposable gloves.
It looks like she was wearing vinyl gloves in the video. A favorite of mine because they are much less sticky when trying to put on wet freshly washed, hands.
Beware, some people are allergic to latex. It has increased with repeated exposure during healthcare and cleaning. While not too many people are allergic, many times the allergic reactions are severe requiring medical attention.
Perrier bottles. I enjoy the product, rinse out the bottle, fill it with my cleaner with essential oils & pop on a spray top. Works great! I get disposable gloves at Sam's Club. Couldn't live without 'em!
I have both. The Bissel is great for pickup jobs (cat/dog food, kitty litter, cereal) not so much for dust. for that, the Dyson is fantastic. I have an 8 with the washable HEPA filter and works like a charm. But the Bissel can't be beaten to pick up medium sized things.
You have converted me into using natural products for cleaning (except for toilet bowl cleaner) but everything else is stuff I have picked out from your videos. I recently got a bad case of cough and realized using store bought cleaning products really aggravated it. So ever since I started cleaning with natural stuff; I no longer kill myself trying to clean. I seriously want to thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us. 😊
I love my steamer. It's a mop, and a hand held and it cleans without chemicals. Loosens up dirt, grease and grime. Cleans just about anything. I still use my home made stuff, and a swiffer for quick cleaning.
@@GoogleAccount-oe9im I have an old shark handheld and a shark mop. I also have a Haan sweeper mop and a Haan do everything steamer that is built like an old canister vacuum. All of mine are older models that I have had for years. the shark handheld is huge, one of the first made. It has a canister with a shoulder strap and a hose that comes off it where the attachments fit. It comes with a mop. The big Haan has the handheld attachments as well as a mop head. I can do walls, ceilings, and carpet with that big boy! I use each for different tasks. The big boys are more for full house cleaning, spring cleaning, big tasks. the shark mop is more like my weekly mop when things are the normal dirty or if I need fast cleaning. I don't use the shark handheld for mopping. The Haan might be a huge beast but I've used that monster to rid the house of fleas before, it gets much hotter and makes better steam. the shark is more for every day. the Haan is build better and heavier duty.
Girl I clean for a living and I stumbled upon this Chanel this morning watched a ton of your videos and I'm like oh my gosh I love this woman's ideas. Why haven't I seen this before. I'll definitely be buying your book today. Thanks for sharing all your tricks I so appreciate you.
I'm a cleaning lady. Some of my favorite cleaners are: melaleuca's tub and tile cleaner. Best ever! Sprayway window cleaner. Caldera's all purpose cleaner.
Melissa, what is the name or brand or the link to get that pink sponge you have in this video??? I know many of us are curious! I recently bought your book and I love it!!!! Thank you for inspiring us to clean!
When talking about essential oils you should mention that most are toxic to cats and can cause organ failure, even if you're just cleaning with them or diffusing them. They don't have to be applied directly to the cats to harm them. You may not realize they are sick until it's too late, and unless you're aware of essential oils being toxic to them you'll likely attribute the illnesses to other things. Please make sure to educate others about this when you recommend essential oils. And please don't use them in your home if you have cats. There is only a handful of EOs that are safe for cats, so be sure to do thorough research before purchasing and using them.
So glad someone mentioned this. It’s the first thing I think of when everyone is boasting about essential oils being wonderful and natural because I have cats.
They're also not really safe for skin contact either. They're a major risk for contact dermatitis. This is an area where synthetics are generally better.
Keramie Wheatley I am happy to see your comment. Most people don’t realize this & there are so many people using essential oils now days who don’t realize that their cats liver cannot process even the smell some essential oils 😭.
this video is so helpful!! my favorite cleaning product now is the Roomba vacuum robot. It vacuums the whole house automatically according to my schedule. It makes my lift so much easier!! Everyone should have one. I thinks it is a good investment too.
CleanMySpace; Melissa, I assume the Dyson is your fav of favorites. Do I go to your website to order Microfiber cloths? Thank you, I have learned so much through your videos:)
Dr Bronners uses coconut oil in their mix, I can’t use it for hand or body soap for that reason. There are a few companies out there that do coconut free but it’s hard to find.
Coconut oil for everything! We recently installed new floors which got stained by something oil/grease based and would not budge with soap. But I slapped some coconut oil on it and it came out immediately! In addition, I love coconut oil for removing sticker residue. Also, I noticed that you touched the toilet with your disposable gloves and then touched the spray bottle D: !! Doesn't that defeat the purpose of using gloves? I wouldn't recommend plastic spray bottles for essential oils because the oil tends to seep into the plastic making it stain/smell like that EO. Plus, EO's tend to degrade plastic and many oils tend to deteriorate when exposed to sunlight.
Hi Melissa, can you please make a video about the cheaper vacuums you like? Thank you!! I am moving next sure :( Don't want to, lol, but it's my families first time in a condo and we are trying to get rid of things and get smaller stuff for our condo.
I use Norwex everything!! I love their products. They have been a lifesaver so many times. There was one time when my house was a complete disaster, and then my grandma wanted to come over. I had no idea how I was going to clean the house in time, but I had some samples from Norwex. I thought I could try them. They are amazing! They made my house look amazing! My favorite one of their products is their window cloth. Instead of having to use a cleaner to clean windows, you just get the cloth wet, wipe down the window and put the cloth in the washer! I love it so much!!
If you have 2 minutes to touch up the bathroom a disinfecting wipe (like Lysol) is so convenient and germ killing. Start high; faucet handles, door knob, light switch, then around sink and finally my vinyl floor gets a touch up, for spots.
Sorry Melissa, you are not going to be thrilled with this one lol. Thanks to you I bought a cordless Dyson vacuum about two years ago and I went from dreading vacuuming to enjoying it. I use it every day on my floors. I love it so much better than a broom and if I didn't have this vac, I would only be vacuuming once a week with my large corded one. With mostly bare floors and two cats, vacuuming is a daily must.
My steam cleaner....there are all kinds; I have the Bissell power fresh which does an awesome job for small areas. I use it in conjunction with cleaners [you can't put anything other than water it in though]. Love your channels!!
I never thought I needed a cordless hand vac but once I did it chsnged my life. I gifted my sister one when she graduated college and it changed her life too! I think my favorite thing is plain old dish soap. You can use it on almost every surface.
My very favorite cleaning tool is a cellulose SPONGE CLOTH. It's a spongy cloth. It's reusable and machine washable. I first discovered them in Germany years ago. It took me many years to find them in the US. They're amazing for cleaning.
2 tablespoons of white vinegar, 2 teaspoons of borax powder, 2 cups of warm water, 6 to 8 drops of tea tree oil - pour into a spray bottle, give a good shake to dissolve the borax and you are good to go - I sometimes add lavender oil as well.
Nylon net scrubbies. Clean without scratching. I don't see them for sale anymore but you can make your own. You can buy the material or you can use the small nylon net bags on onions (or other products), just make sure to cut off the metal edge. Use less steel wool & easier on your hands.
God I’m like, 10 videos in, and I’m 🤯 mind blown! I am learning so much! I’ve been doing things all wrong 😂 Thank you for this! Got some supplies to pick up for sure! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
One of my favorite products is the Black and Decker 20v leaf blower. It's gentle and quiet. I use it to sweep floors, get under couches etc. It does amazing easy work and doesn't blow everything everywhere.
The swiffer duster is a must have with my business because I get up the heaviest dust before I start wiping down surfaces. It prevents those traces of dust being left behind from your rags :)
Essential oils are super dangerous for pets (especially birds), children, and adults who have asthma, migraines, or epilepsy. Do NOT use them in cleaning products that don't have soap or a carrier oil to properly dilute the essential oil
Disposable gloves result in a lot of damage to the environment. People need to learn good hand washing technique. I also like Castile soap but haven’t used it in awhile. I think I will pick some up. Also am going to get some enzyme cleaner.
I really like Method all purpose cleanser in lavender. It smells so good and it's all natural. I'm trying not to use strong chemicals anymore, I get enough of that from work. The other thing I love that I learned from here is using Hydrogen P to remove stains on clothes. I went out one day wearing a new shirt I got a couple of months ago and by the time I got home I noticed a huge stain on it. So I took it off and dumped it into a small bucket I filled with water water, 1/4 cap full of laundry detergent (travel sized bottle) and about half a cup or less of the HP. I let it soke overnight and rinsed it out the next day and the stain was gone. Didn't mention that it's a coral color 😄. While on the topic of cleaning I'm having a hard time looking for a good mop. I've tried swifter and I'm not crazy about throwing out the pads. Any good machine washable options? And how long between use do you wash it and with what other items? Thanks everyone 😆
Go to www.flylady.net--She has a mop that has the most wonderful mop "head" that you can just pop off of it and toss it in the washer. Link is: shop.flylady.net/p/_The_Mop. And you're most welcome. :-D
Ok so I read through every comment and no one said this: D-LIMONENE! This is my new absolute favorite for cleaning. It's made from orange peels and is so completely non-toxic you can ingest it (and is in fact great for heartburn, but that's another story). I researched brands thoroughly before deciding on Blubonic Industries (and no, I'm not getting payment or any other benefit from saying this). This stuff is used as an industrial solvent/degreaser. It will clean any hard-to-clean grease, gunk, glue, etc in no time flat. Think natural goo-gone. I have used it to get off duct tape residue that was years old in seconds. Greasy kitchen messes, inside oven glass. Perhaps most amazing, it makes a great carpet cleaner. I mean greasy gunky pet spots (the spot my dog used to take all his bones etc to chew on)--like new! Scrubbed the stains off my textured shower floor in seconds with just a scrubby sponge. Also smells amazing. I wouldn't use it on furniture, may remove the finish. I don't think there's anything this stuff won't clean. You should use gloves though because as a degreaser it will dry your skin.
Don’t use anything acidic on sealed granite (like countertops). It will eat through the (expensive to replace) sealant. In fact, any juice, tomato sauce, vinegar based dressings/sauces will also destroy the sealant, so make sure those spills are wiped up immediately.
You're throwing out plastic EVERY time you clean?! I use rubber gloves, and when im done i wash my hands with the gloves on, hang to dry, ready to reuse MANY times.
Thanks again for these great ideas. I have a Jacqui question: We have hard water around here & I KNOW particulate is building up in the pipes of my tub.Could I use the baking soda & hot water + Vinegar method to try to keep them clear? If so, how often do u recommend (We use it a couple times/week). Or, do you have a better recommendation?
We recently bought a Dyson stick vacuum and I find myself cleaning my floors more often! Before I felt like it was a hassle to use a large vacuum/broom/dustpan and a waste of time cause it's just pushing debris in the air and all around! So gross! So now that I have this vacuum, myself, husband and the kids grab it and so effortlessly clean up messes etc. Also I am really interested in that fabric sponge you mentioned in the video, I wanna try that out!
Melissa: Clean My Space what is your FAVORITE cleaning product or tool? You: dumbfounded after this video that MICROFIBER CLOTHS wasn't in this video as a #1 being that that's the only tool she ever rants about! 😦 Lmao microfiber cloths are an essential part of cleaning😕
Clean My Space Fav is my microfiber cloths! Question on Castile Soap. I'm on well water, which is hard. Castile soap creates an aweful resid with hard water, so what would be a good alternative for a soap base for the diy products that call for Castile? Love you!
Clean My Space I love castile soap and vinegar (just not together) and my flat mop with DIY floor spray. I know the floor would never be as clean as they are if there was a bucket and string mop involved!
Clean My Space Favourite tool? I have a scrubbing brush for my dishes. I have carpal Tunnel and over sensitized nerves in my dominant hand and a brush help amazingly without killing my pans or dishes. That said I only have Steel pans because they are much easier to clean.
Clean My Space Spray bottles: a website called Grove has wonderful glass spray bottles. I love these, have no issues with the sprayers breaking down. Also with the glass, you don't have to worry about what type of plastic the bottle is if using essential oils (they will degrade many types of plastic, yuck).
Just discovered your channel. So good, inspiring and helpful. I'm purchasing everything. However, I'm finding it difficult to find the non-scratch, non-cellulose sponges. Where did you buy? Thanks so much.
My favorite spray by far is CleanSmart Daily Surface Cleaner and Pet-safe Disinfectant (sold by Simple Science, LLC), which you can get from the manufacturer or Amazon. It’s safe, effective, after two seconds of chlorine smell (like a swimming pool), it’s scent-free. The only problem I’ve had is the spray bottles don’t always work well. Once you open them (not easy, I gotta tell you), transfer to a spray bottle of your choice, WELL MARKED, and go to town!
I've used dozens of cordless vacuums and they are all AWFUL; very curious what 'good' cheap ones you were referring to. My brother owns the Dyson cordless which is quite pricey but literally the only one I've ever used that's worth it's weight in gold.
I love the lime green fabric mesh cleaning cloths at Walmart (3/pack). They make dish soap “grow” so a little goes a long way, they don’t scratch, and clean up really well. I just use a big blob of soap, and squish the suds through the cloth, then rinse thoroughly (like hand-washing your bra or pantyhose…do women still wear pantyhose?). Then air dry.
Hey...on this video u talked about cleaners with Enzyme. What is the difference between cleaners with Enzymes vs Probiotic. For example Aunt Frannie's Probiotic @ Amazon and VEO Active Pro-biotics ???
. . . thanks for your great tips . . .regarding your stove filter - wondering if you've ever considered just washing them with your dishes in the dishwasher . . . super hot de-greasing water & soap, plus, saving your enzyme products for other cleaning tasks that don't accommodate this . . . God Bless . . .
I like 3M Sponges with no scratch pad. Also found long, narrow Bottle-Brushes at hardware store. They were designed to clean a tea pot spout (maybe if you use loose leaf tea??) - but they are REALLY useful for cleaning the gunk out of bathroom sink drains! Euwwh! Green slime buildup from soap scum and toothpaste! And then follow with baking soda & vinegar, final rinse with hot water 💓
If well seasoned, cast iron can be as non-stick as Teflon. So quick soap rinse with a scrubby sponge. Heat it on the stove to dry, this prevents rust. Use a paper towel to rub in some veg. oil while it's heating. You can use table salt during this step to absorb excess oil and polish the surface. Every time you do this the skillet will become even more non-stick. Do this as soon as you can otherwise you'll need to Brillo and re-season. You can Google how to season cast iron if you're not familiar with how to do it. Note: when you wipe with oil you'll notice the paper towel may pick up black residue. This isn't dirt it's just black iron oxide, don't worry about it.
i use a chain square scrubber and no soap . if something is stuck on , i put water in the pan , bring it to a boil, let it cool , use the chain scrubber and voila, clean and ready to lightly coat with oil and let it warm into the pan on the stove top or in the oven and it's as good as new. They also make a plastic scraper for stuck on food or places where the seasoning has worn off. my cast iron collection is over 40 years old and still works like new. you do have to resurface them everyone once in a while.
I like using the combination of Castile soap, borax, super washing soda, essential oils and distilled water to clean with. Cleans the microwave effortlessly!
I love your channel, but am boycotting Amazon. Thanks for recommending things from alternative stores too, like Ikea and Vitacost. Vitacost has an affiliate program, it would be cool if you jumped on that. I would love to support you by using those links, and place orders from vitacost once a month usually also. Target has an affiliate program too, not sure about Costco, which I also use regularly. Wishing you all the best, Melissa!
You might want to boycott Ikea too.. They chew through forests like nobody's business and churn out throw-away products by the billions. Check out Broken: Season 1: "Deadly Dressers" on Netflix.
The link below for the small vacuum is not inexpensive but rather $549. Is this the one you think is a reasonable price? If so, is there another you recommend that is much lower? Thank you.
Hi Melissa ! I have a request, something most guitarists I think remain very confused about. How to clean a guitar? Fretboard and body? Since you seem to understand different sorts of cleaners and their effects, maybe you can figure out the best way? Something that cleans the wood and also takes care of it. I imagine maybe some kind of gentle cleaner, and then a treatment oil?
Any natural oil used for wood like linseed or mineral oil would work fine. If I'm replacing strings, I'll take 2-3 strings off one side (to keep neck tension), and wipe down the fretboard with a microfiber cloth. If it's really grimy you can put a few drops of water on the cloth to help clean. I'll then rub just a little bit of mineral oil down the board with a clean cloth, which both cleans and protects the board. Don't mess with oil around any pickups. If there are harder to reach areas, use a baby's toothbrush (extra soft) to get into those areas and brush out anything. Repeat on the other side. If there are cracks in the board, music stores usually sell some sort of restoration cream. While strings are off, you can also use the toothbrush and wet cloth to clean the bridge area. For polished areas like head or body, just wiping it down with a dry microfiber after each use would be enough to keep it in shape.
I clean mirrors with a water/white cleaning vinegar mixture instead of using commercial window/mirror spray cleaner that always leaves a difficult to remove film. I also just bought a plastic spray bottle from a 99 cent store, never had an issue with it.
You know, they always sell enzyme cleaners in the Pet dept. I have a bottle I bought for emergency that I never used. Can that cleaner be used for any enzyme cleaning application? Do enzyme cleaners become less effective over time? Do they expire? Are all enzyme cleaners the same essentially? IDK?? Thanks! K
Distilled water is my favorite cleaner for glass. I own a water distiller. That makes it convenient for me especially. Distilled water is the only glass cleaner that will not leave a haze. The only exception is maybe cleaning glass with rubbing alcohol it won't leave a haze either.
Does anyone know why I see so many articles and videos saying to use "metal" or "glass" bottles for the mixes? I keep wondering what the difference is. I personally would rather use the plastic but would like to know why the other recommendations.
Castille soap is highly alkaline and not an appropriate skin cleanser. Our skin is naturally acidic and the acid mantle is a protective aspect to prevent bacteria and other things from making us sick. This soap is stripping and over time can lead to a host of problems from dryness to cracks that lead to infection. I know you meant well but natural/non-toxic doesn’t equal good for skin.
