Puyallup is nice and cheap, a bit boring so we commute every weekend to Seattle 🤘🏼

I can`t afford it and probably most Americans can`t either.

Good info. What about Renton? We seem to get no love🙂 The East side get all the praises. The northern and southern burbs get the affordable recommendations, and we're in the middle of all that. We seem to be like the middle unwanted child. Kidding aside, I should have bit the bullet and bought a house in Bellevue/Issaquah back in the late 90s.

Born and raised in Bonney Lake, commuted from Bonney Lake (not Tehaleh) to downtown seattle and honestly the drive wasn't that bad though I often found myself taking the bus from the Bonney Lake P+R to Sumner and taking the Sounder the rest of the way in, super convienent up until I moved out of state a few month ago. I think that Bonney Lake, save for the Lake Tapps area has really lost a lot of its charm over the last 30 or so years. Huge swaths of trees have been cut down to add the Walmart, Fred Meyer and Costco (as well as all those restuarants that nobody but the city wanted to use to entice new development/residents). The population has boomed and a lot of the farmland has made way for new construction and large areas lost their rural low zoning (1 house per 1 to 5 acres depending on the area). This has also lead to increased crime rates and a rise in homeless people as well as a rise in animal incidents due to loss of habitat. Don't get me wrong, it's still a great place to live especially if you are looking for the sort of slow pace metro area suburb vibe but it's lost all the rural small town charm it once had that places like Orting, Buckley, Eatonville and Morton still have.

Really needed this. Thank you. I noticed that many of the homes are newer compared to similar price points in our part of the Midwest. It would be neat to hear your perspective since you are a professional

Thanks for watching! As a generally rule of thumb, the more eastern side of the Seattle metro will have much more in the way of new construction, versus closer to the puget sound will be much older on average.

Why don't you do Bremerton or Kitsap County? Its an hour on the ferry to downtown and housing prices are very reasonable 🙂

I got a private school job in shoreline that does not pay an it salary obviously and I will have to rent.. Is it cheap there or what would be a good area in the vicinity that is not too expensive

There are no "cheap" areas anywhere near Seattle. I was born here almost 65 years ago. I am in landlord-tenant law. I know for a fact that there is nothing even vaguely affordable anywhere near Seattle itself. That goes double with today's stupid interest rates, which ARE going higher regardless of the spin doctors in the real estate sales industry seeking to dazzle me with flashing lenses, smoke and mirrors. Seattle has gone San Jose Stupid and even with a major adjustment will still be out of reach. When my family duty is done, I am GONE.
