FYI, and for those that have/did not get the 'Illumination' book - you have/will have lost out. Really lovely book - photos and dialogue. And no, this ain't sponsored. I got my copy a little while back but wanted to drop a Thank You note in the next feed. Thanks Adam, excellent book. The finishing of the Collector book-box is superb. Thank you!

You can be so inspirational Adam. Thank you, I needed that. The passion for photography can wane often for me, it's almost rhythmic but each time I come back I think I get a little better. It can't be forced though, it has to come naturally and when you're ready. As the seasons change we have different scenes to shoot and we have autumn to look forward to now which puts a whole new perspective on things .

Adam, this is full of wonderful suggestions - including taking a break. Some of my best images were shot during shitty weather, so I really need to embrace that more. And time-lapses, too - I have to do more of those. Thanks, mate.

Great ideas Adam! I've had a major lull in photography over the summer due to other demands and a family bereavement. I hope to return to it soon as I've missed it so much. The excellent inspiration from your video will encourage me all the more. I hope you had a great holiday and its a joy to see you back.

Hi Adam and thanks for the suggestions. It can be very hard to motivate yourself to go out with your camera at times, especially when you feel that you're going to the same places and photographing the very same things, just on a different day. I also have the added disadvantage that I'm disabled and don't drive, so I can't easily access the locations I'd like to visit. By the way, I've just had a look at Verity Milligan's website. Her work is awesome!

Thanks so much for these great tips! I'll definitely check out the work Joe, Charlotte, and Verity. Just a very simple question about shooting in snow! How you do feel about foot prints? Do you want pristine landscapes, or do you work with what you see and use "signs of life" as leading lines or what have you?

"Bad light" has been a lifesaver during a New York City summer when sunrise is way too early and midday is brutally hot. The best light for woodland and flowers is cloudy or misty. Also, try a new genre like wildlife or street for which bright sunlight and contrast is actually an advantage.

Hi Adam, Good to see you back with a very informative video. Regarding timelapses, it would be great if you could create some content on day to night transition since manual exposure for the same is very tricky. Looking forward to your next video 👍.

Fantastic video for many reasons, I love the way you share other photographer work with us. I agree you have to mix it up a bit. For me the seasons don't change fast enough so I dip into street, and macro photography. But I do think one thing missing from your tips is travel. I can always tell when my enthusiasm for photography is waning and that is always when I stop traveling. Thanks for posting. How about doing a tutorial on Squarespace?

When I do ICM, it's usually of the beautiful colors of the ocean here in Hawaii. I use both a ND filter and a tripod to restrict camera movement to a single direction. I like the results.

Love the idea of using a 6 stop filter to do ICM, as like you, I don't really like the randomness of it - although a good ICM image is as good as any still image.

Thankd for the tips Adam...do you have any videos on night time light painting without a drone? Or can you point me in the direction of a photographer that is on youtube you recommend on here? Want to know the technical side and cant see anything on Jo Cornish Cheers 🌿

#8- purchase a 70’s era mechanical camera and start laying some images down on physical emulsion. The best thing I ever did was start mixing film photography into my digital world. Slowed me down, made me think more about composition, light and timing vs “I’ll just fix it in Lightroom”. Analog photography has made my digital photography much better and more intentional.
@Firstmanphotography
@Firstmanphotography 2 года назад
Definitely. I truly believe photography is an art but any new technical challenge can be used to inspire.

If I may ask a question. I use a Tamron 18-300mm lens but the club I'm with have suggested that I buy a 70-200mm Canon White lens, they are not cheap but can buy cheaper ones from ebay or CEX, do the white lenses produce better quality photo's, is it worth changing
