So I would have loved to bring you all an “in the field” photography video but this has been a really hard week due to family problems. I just filmed one for next week that will be good so stay tuned for that one :)

You might be my favorite real, practical and honest RU-vidr (photography). I'm 62 years old and have been shooting for 45 + years ( and a lot of pro work) I'm never to old to learn... I used to teach (film days) photography on a collage level and was the master and now with Digital have become the Grasshopper... Thank you...

@@severgun It's not. I've had two Peak Design Slide straps - one of which is only a "secondary" in case I'm running two cameras at once (which I very rarely am), or if my partner/teammate forgets to bring a a strap. I've done everything from documentary filmmaking, high-intensity sports (on a national level), press photography and events. The strap (and the quick-release points) is durable AF..! :9

After watching many photography / videography videos I really got value from this one. As having too many things to charge - the charging station is just what i need. I didn't know they existed. And I am the type to shoot in silence because if i put on music I want to dance lol (I dance Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba) but having a portable JBL speaker is a nice thing to have. I already have the external a good backpack, SSD, Good SD cards and an M1 iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil. Will be getting a charging station, external speaker and a camera strap in the future. Thanks Manny!

Nicely done! I recently discovered and bought the Peak Design Slide after first trying Blackrapid, and yes indeed the Slide is a thing of beauty. Those quick releases are nice indeed, great design, plus the SPEED AND EASE of adjusting the strap is unmatched by any other product I know of. Good suggestions all round:)

The speaker for the photoshoot is a great idea. Getting the right shots is about getting in the zone for both you and the talent. We hear so much about equipment on youtube and how you need this camera or this lens we all have been guilty of this I reckon. Getting people in the mood to perform and give you what you're looking for can't be underestimated. Great tip.

Love Peak Design Slide! I have integrated the Peak Design anchors to work with the Kirk L Bracket and Spider Pro (using Arca-Swiss Clamp). I also have the Peak Design Everyday Backpack. Love the design and how quick and easy to set up and change the dividers. In regards to Carpal Tunnel, I have the mild form of it. Every once in awhile my hand will lock up. After years of working in IT and doing repetitive motion... You are spot on and its no joke! One of the main reasons why i switched from DSLR/SLR to Sony Mirrorless Full Frame. Thanks for sharing your recommended items!

I too bring my JBL Flip speaker to the shoots, it helps a lot with the overall mood like you said. Usually ask the client the kind of music they prefer and just go to a song and create a station based on that in spotify. It does the trick and you can leave the music unattended and just focus on shooting.

I'm a wildlife photographer trying to expand. I've done portraits a lot before and just got into doing it professionally. That speaker idea was actually really good. I usually shoot in silence or in nature but in doors, makes a lot of sense actually. Thanks for that

I was surprised when you displayed the JBL Flip as a must have. I do agree. I use it at my photo sessions as well. I originally purchased one for some outside tent shows I did in 2016...found out I don't like doing tent shows. I stopped doing tent shows and put the JBL in the closet and forgot about it. 2018 comes and I move to a new apartment with much more space only to find the Flip while moving in. I currently use it as a laptop speaker while doing photo sessions in my studio. Glad I found it. It has a great sound for the size.

Thanks for all the tips, just started getting into photography & videos(trying to make my knife making videos better). I did notice one thing you said about the external hard drive, if someone has a desktop, then invest in a second small SSD just for premiere/final cut and pre edit files(though I do have 4tb external dump for after). This way, you can render faster, upload faster and even transfer files faster. SSD's have gotten so cheap(500gb for about $100), it is worth the money... Thanks again, great video...take it easy...

YES YES YES YES YES TO THE SPEAKER!!!!! I work with a photographer who does a lot of senior portraits outdoors and she used to shoot in complete silence. Whenever she would try and change lenses to do anything it would just be awkward small talk or silence with everyone else. One day, I brought a small speaker like yours to the shoot and it changed the environment TREMENDOUSLY! We NEVER shoot without music now.

I have been using the Joby JB01303 Convertible Neck Strap on my mirrorless camera bodies . I constructed my own detachable straps for my DSLR bodies using clips and straps sold by meter/yard. It's little effort but I get exactly the functionality that I want. I use the short strap loop as a wrist strap, clip the short ends together for a short handle or attach the long strap for a neck / body strap.... the Joby does the exact same.

When I worked as an engineer/programmer I had problems in my right wrist from tendinitis/ carpal tunnel. I found that by playing/ practicing on the piano relieved my symptoms. Playing the piano forces you to keep your wrists, forearms, and hands flat and parallel for strength and flexibility. If you maintain this while typing or working on the computer you'll be fine.

I just bought the Peak Design camera strap, the blue one thoughI was reluctant to spend that much on it but then I said screw it and I am glad I did. A feature on it that's as good as the ease of removal is the ability to ratchet it up or down on your body quickly and it's very comfortable. I looked at getting the PD backpacks but honestly like you said a traditional camera backpack just works better at the end of the day.

Get a used Nikon D700 from eBay with < 75,000 shutter actuations. EAsy to find for 4-5 hundred. Buy a couple decent prime lenses. Just picked up the beautiful 135 Nikkor f/2.8 ai(s) (it's the old manual focus with orange f-stop 22 on it) for 60$ from an eBay auction I used a sniper (Gixen . com) i had set to max bid to 77$ (it automatically won at 60 so that's what you pay) (this was on the angry photographer's recommendation). He has a bunch of best value lens recommendations. Also, was able to snag a $518 (still in production 60mm f/2.8 micro D series lens) for $200 from an auction. MINT condition. Dude was switching over to a different camera system and had 2/3 of the holy trinity (24-70 f/2.8 - $1900, and the ultra-wide angle that runs for $1800) I guess this was his budget lens. Saved 320$! Sony is for rich people and people who do this for a living and can afford to use whatever system they choose. Once you get a budget setup of an old pro body and a couple dope primes, start building the portfolio, Squarespace that shiz, learn how to develop raw files properly using tony and Chelsea's LR book and some other supplementary stuff, get a decent monitor that is color calibrated out of the box: Tom's hardware monitor list for PROFESSIONAL monitors is the best resource. they use the same exact testing every time and will tell you straight up what's up. I saw a 500$ AOC 4k VA panel 32" that just came out. literally the most rock bottom, decent panel, high contrast monitor you'll get on a budget right now. buy a decent off camera flash with TTL (through the lens exposure control) for nikons remote system buy a sb-700 or 800 or something and then just get this little black thing that fits in the hotshoe to block your camera bodies flash from getting into the image when it blinks to set off the remote flash(your camera's flash has to be up to set off the remote flash, this way, you don't have to buy a wireless trigger and controller, aka free, not amazing in bright daylight, still works). then buy a decent light stand, a westcott 2 in 1 shoot through and bounce umbrella, that reflector manny has (5 in 1 newer) and that reflector stand. get a softbox later when you are better with off-camera flash and can afford an paul c. buff Einstein or AlienBees. Nikon lenses are so prevalent you can find them dirt cheap if you know what you're looking for and THAT... along with photography/compositional understanding/ design/ taste/ some photoshop skills/ furthering your creative eye/ etc.... will get you closer to where manny is at. not there. but closer. good enough to make money and afford this stuff.

Thanks so much bro. Really appreciate your time producing these videos 🙏. I feel you with RSI/carpal. I used to use the G502 mouse but have bad rsi. I switched to the Evoluent vertical mouse. Great list. The ONLY thing I ever had an issue with was the Lacie Rugged. I'm on the road a lot so my gear takes a beating. But my drives are babied. Two of them died on me in a year. First one, the drive and housing separated somehow. Second one, which was the replacement, just stopped working. Excellent customer service. I need to get me a new bag. Was using the Lowepro but my tripod strap broke after like 6 years. lol

I do photography but my other profession is visual effects and having a wacom tablet is a game changer. Get all the practice you can get because it's a lifesavera you will get much faster and better at retouching. I arely use a mouse these days

Great information. I didn't know about the different speeds on the SD cards. I'm new to this, so much to learn. Not to mention photography is an expensive hobby. I gave too many hobbies not enough $$$😟 I really like the 1st camera bag looks good. Right now I have a small camera bag, looks like I need to upgrade.

OMG...I think I have developed carpel tunnel over the last couple of weeks, I can't put pressure on my wrist. I started editing more than usual...that's it! I happened to purchase the Wacom small tablet so I guess I'd better start using it. I'm so glad you said that!
