Welcome back 💩 Today I’m reacting to one of my favorite RU-vid creators, Lost in the Pond! Let me know if you watch him too and if you’ve ever heard these American phrases. 🥰 DISCORD: discord.gg/jexJKJ7k WISHLIST: throne.com/toniaelkins
We use 'Shoot the breeze' and 'John Hancock' in Oz too the meanings are the same here too, only thing is shooting the breeze usually means 'talkin' shit'. To 'Table' a document is also used in our Parliament, but normal people don't use it. Probably the most well known American phrases here has to be ' Plead the fifth' and the old staple "we'll head them off at the pass!' lol
Found it interesting and fun to watch I sometimes say John Hancock,Plead the fifth. shooting the breeze I’ve heard it before, but don’t think I’ve ever used it. ❤
Well you’re also smarter than most of us Americans 😂😂 I figured some of these were used enough on tv and movies that other people have at least heard them.
Many Australians use "Step up to the plate" meaning taking responsibility or taking control. It's clearly a baseball term but that's a very minor sport in Australia compared to cricket.
