Rosemary. Lavender. Basil (repels mosquitoes and flies) -- can use as a seasoning. Marigolds. Catnip. Chrysanthemum (rub leaves on skin to repel bug bites). Geranium - smells strongly of citrus and citronella. Citronalla (plants, oils, or candle forms) Can make tea with it. I put this here as a list for people to copy and paste to a place where they can use it. The viewer still has to come to the video to find the list.
Oh thank you for this. I have problems with insects on my plants and herbs inside and outside the house. I will grow these and have them on my balcony and in my home. I look forward to doing this!
I live in south Sinai, Egypt. I have rosemary, basil, geranium outside my doors and I tried rubbing them on but found the mosquitos take no notice whatsoever. I still get bitten and the still come inside the house despite our best efforts, unfortunately...
I have two huge rosemary and basil plants in my garden, and every time i shake them hundreds of mosquitos come out of them!! They do smell nice! But they certanly dont repell mosquitos!
Ummm not sure what to believe because I have some of these plants in my dyi garden like rosemary thyme and basil and let me tell a lot of fly bugs and so on so not sure if these is true just my opinion
I have basil in my garden...nothing seems to attack my basil but all my other plants are getting attacked by worms, aphids and insects that are right next to them and I keep getting bit up by mosquitoes I can't even see or feel on me. It's so bad I'm spraying off on me before going outside every time.
So a question, if i were to hang a plant 'tray' around / in front of my windows and doors - would this help in preventing those nasty little buggers to enter the house? and would combining these plants in the garden - in some flower pots on the table or next to the garden lounge seats, help in preventing the mosquitoes to approach?
Yes you are correct. I just read they make citronella oil from lemongrass. However I get bit by mosquitoes all the time and have bought citronellas. I rub the leaves on me and it helps a ton. This area is in the NC/SC border area, so maybe it's a subspecies where the citronella plant helps. Either way it's pleasant smelling so I recommend.
Hello Priyanha! We have an interesting video on how to repelt cockroaches, take a look here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kCnMViwj-SA.html
BS! I have tons of herbs and all those you named and everything is organic and guess what I have about 25 types of insects around my house. Aphids love to attack my herbs especially my basils, mint, rosemary, sage, brinjal, you name it. I have leaf miner attacking my bean plants, spider net on all plants, scales on my custard apple trees, various caterpillar species, grasshopper, white fly, black fly, beetles and strange looking things. And they are hungry as hell. So nope, these plants do not chase insects away. In fact they attract insects due to the fragrance. The only way to minimize the insects is to use home made spray but then it only lasts a few days.
Also I was fed up too so I got sticky traps and electric insect zappers. These help better than the plants. Buying ladybugs can help but only if you release them early in the season, and praying mantis but they are indiscriminate consumers and will also eat each other.lol. Anyway good luck with your garden in spite of the challenges.
nop its not every body just say in youtube video i say its a fake information. i have 5 types of Basil, Thyme, Rosemary, Oregon, Sage, Mints but still coming Mosquitoes and Other Insects.
Joshua Rosales, no. True or false oregano does NOT repel mosquitoes. However, dried Oregano (the true or false), Thyme, Rosemary or Sage, will repel clothes moths (just like mothballs only safer for humans and animals). Lavender is overrated and short lived (dried).
one of the wrong information of the image was citronella. The last leave in the video shows lemon grass but the commenter said that was citronella leaves.
Thanks good to know.what plants help with fruit flies.I wash my fruit but still have a trouble with them.I think i don't remember to wash my citrus fruits.
Thank you so much for this video because most of the world a have a big bug problems subscribe to this youtuber for this environmental friendly pesticide
WARNING: When you make certain oils and sprays from these plants it can harm your pets and your babies. Do research these before making these and spraying around your house. You wouldn't want to rush your baby to the hospital, would you?
jailbirdx0x as weird as it may sound...try placing/stuffing dryer sheets around the areas where you see mice poop trails or mice themselves. (the cheap variety works very well too. I use them when overwintering cars and in the vegetable garden throughout the growing season against squirrels and chipmunks ).
Hello Robin! Here's a comprehensive list of plants that are considered toxic for pets: www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants
@@robind8155 beware of essential oils fragrances or those plug-ins/ready sprays for home/cars, burning incenses, candles etc, too. I know that geranium fragrance can cause seizures in dogs. Especially in closed area like inside of a car. Cats are sensitive too. Just wanted to share this :-)
Mary Felix… the pix in this is the lemongrass plant. I live in NYS, where it can’t survive our winters. In the summer here it does fine. I grew it from a small plant I bought at a gardening place. I grew it in a large pot. By September it was 3 feet tall and beautiful. I’m sure you can find a small plant for yourself on amazon. Remember to water it regularly and keep it outdoors where there’s sunshine...that’s all I did. Good luck and enjoy.
SharkSport Hahah Indian legal system are so moronic....you commit a murder you may leave jail sooner than possessing marijuana...so don’t advice that 😂✌🏻
