If Telltale didn't focus so heavily on the illusion of choice, getting the same ending no matter what, character deaths meaning nothing, with only ever so slight story changes then maybe we'd get alternative endings and more achievements rather than just "finishing" it to platinum the trophy. Telltale is just there to tell you a story, and the only interaction you get are same sided branching dialogue and anoying QTE's. The Batman telltale game is probably one of the only ones they tried to break the mold with, but it's still there.
Bob Stickman Haven't played some of the newer games, but in regards to choice, I do feel some Telltale games preserved the illusion better than others(e.g. Tales from the Borderlands) or had cases where the linear story was interesting enough that the matter of false choice was more of a great annoyance than an utter deal breaker (see the Game of Thrones series where the false choice became extremely problematic, at least for me).
I'm one of those contrary people who stands by Shoot The Cool Gun 4. It wasn't afraid to let you shoot rubbish guns too. Brave, underappreciated entry -Rob

+Anti-Ordinary go to 4:30 in this video. He used to have a more prominent role in the Friday Features. He and Rob used to have great bits together and provided a lot of laughs. He's been slowly written out of Friday Features. Check out some videos prior to the fall of 2016.
Ok Rob, I have been watching PlayStation Access for a while now and I have to say, you guys are brilliant. Because of you guys I have discovered a whole new level of gaming. I used to play games to completion when I was younger. I played games like sonic the hedgehog and rocket knight on sega to completion. Then I played games like Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Sonic Adventure 1-2 and Halo to completion. Then it was the last last of us and first three games of the uncharted series as well as infamous. But after those... something broke in me. I am a retired military vet and because I am disabled, I have all the time in the world to play games to completion. But I have not. For the past three years, I have fought depression and also was struggling from feeling useless to the world after getting out of the military. Today after watching and rewatching your various videos, I had an epiphany. It was about the way you dealt with platinum trophies. The social standings and grace of having a platinum was well above those without in your group at PlayStation Access. That’s when it hit me. Something I have been missing was a little more incentive to finish and complete one of many games I have gotten each month. It’s thanks to you that I now realize how a video game is supposed to be played again. In a way I have gotten the small child portion of my love for games back after seemingly lost amongst my military years. I thank you. But also I now find myself in a dilemma... I have no platinum trophies and I’m not particularly close on any of them. So I thought “Hey, what if you guys did a video on how to select your first platinum trophy and on?” This first platinum holds somewhat of an emotional factor or pride if you will. How do I select which title is worthy, what if my title’s platinum is locked behind multiplayer mode? I know what I want to do but don’t know where to start? Any one else feel this way? If you think you could Rob, a video about platinums would be beautiful. Sorry this was so long, I had to get it out there, thank you guys for everything you do at PlayStation Access.
Majid Omeiri I have it and I'm not embarrassed. I loved the show when I was a kid and I don't care what anyone thinks lol. I still listen to her music all the time.
yeah I get you, kinda felt the same way. I did end up enjoying it though. I did it for the first time on my 2nd playthrough with a new character, so I just got used to it as well.
It gets so much easier when you get past the defiled one. That one takes the longest because every boss can just kill you in 1 hit. The queen in the final dunegeon was too easy once you get her to break his hands free of the shackles. I just kept luring her into a really easy to parry attack animation.
Rob: “haven’t you ever wanted to explore inside a painting?” People who have played Mario 64: “exploring inside a painting was something we never thought we’d want to do”
For the Life is Strange platinum, you really don't even need to look up where the pictures are. Going back to replay a chapter will tell you exactly how many are in that chapter and how many you have, and looking at your photos in your journal will have a rough sketch of what you need to take a picture of if you haven't found it yet. It's crazy easy, but so, so worthwhile.
Sam Burckhard finaly finished it that today on PS3 and got it on PS4, it’s a two 4 one deal basicly, but I gonna make different choices on my PS4 tough, pluss I have to be done with ALOT off PS3 games TBH as well 0_o
Aussie boi I have some, but only after I finish the game & realise how close I was (which sometimes makes it harder, I'm specifically thinking of the collectibles like ac2), or think ya I could have done that
My first Platinum was Dead Space. It does require a few playthroughs but you will get most of them if you play enough. The impossible mode trophy was more difficult but it was made a little easier by the fact that you can use cheat codes and still get trophies
Oddly enough, that's not entirely true, loomman. The very game your avatar comes from (The Wolf Among Us) is a Telltale game that requires more than just playing the game to completion in order to plat it. However, to date, I do believe it's the only game they've made that does that. With all the rest being as you say, simple game completion awarding the plat. However, Wolf Among Us surprisingly does require more than that. It's not hard by any means, but it is surprising as the ONLY Telltale game i've played that required more than just completing the game to get the plat.
I have 8 Platinums AC 2 AC Brotherhood ( I almost broke my fingers for this) Watchdogs 2 God of War Horizon Zero Dawn Spider-Man Batman Telltale Detroit Become Human
I have 10 now. Legends Of Wrestlemania Mass Effect 2 Sleeping Dogs Fallout 3 Skyrim Game Of Thrones (Telltale) Batman (Telltale) Terminator Salvation Deus Ex: Human Revolution AC Odyssey Currently working on the Greedfall platinum.
I have 14 Platinums ☆ Fallout 4 ☆ Little Adventure on the Prairie ☆ Life is Strange ☆ Life is Strange: Before the storm ☆ Until Dawn ☆ Infamous Second Son ☆ Ni No Kuni 2 ☆ Resident Evil 7 ☆ SAO Lost Song ☆ Final Fantasy 10 ☆ Unraval ☆ Skyrim ☆ Dragon Quest 11 And my proudest Platinum ☆ The Evil Within I'm currently going Final fantasy 15 as my 15th Platinum
The only exception to the telltale "you only have to beat the game" rule is Wolf Among Us with its 5 Book of Fables trophies, but even with these you only have to beat the game a minimum of twice.
Because it would require he actually play the games... can't get the trophies if you don't play the game. And they haven't each played every single game they ever feature. No-one has that kind of time..... at least not adults with jobs.
Personally I struggled to get almost every trophy in SoM because it seemed like I could never get the right circumstances to kill the Orc leaders. No one ever has feasts in my game, and I have about as much skill riding a caragor as I do a horse in real life so that's several trophies gone already.
Camkh3 In theory, yes. But I always got either an epic rune or one at Lv. 24, and the warchiefs became impervious to almost everything. It was driving me nuts -.-
Do "7 quests with rediculous awards" (For example the black pearl quest in Wither 3 for 10 crowns, and stop Braith from bullying Lars Battle-Born, in Skyrim, for one septim).
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour You get a trophy for entering a cheat code and selecting a cheat from the list. If you then select cheats such as 'God Mode' and all weapons, then the rest of the trophies are easy. You can platinum the game in one go. Not that I've done it...
Mooseface Eh...did you at least enjoy the story? I personally thought certain bits were a bit janky, but that it was an overall fun and charismatic series that actually had a bit more meat/humor to its choices than other Telltale games I've played. Plus, however you feel about QTE's, that office shootout scene was just gold.
Gamer platniumed gta v and uncharted lost legacy and on my old account I platniumed batman arkham knight and Canis canem edit gta was the longest for me to platnium since I did it on school days so I didn't have much time to play it
Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus from the HD collection Just beat the game and find all the clue bottles and open all the vaults and the platinum is yours
In Nier Automata, once you beat the game's true ending you can visit a shop that sells all the rest of the trophies for in game currency. I had just enough to get all of them and platinumed the game. Now THAT's shame.
My platinum collection: 1. Modern Warfare 3 2. God of War 3 (PS3) 3. Battlefield 3 4. Minecraft (PS3) 5. Battlefield 4 (PS3) 6. Battlefield 4 (PS4) 7. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (PS4) 8. Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 9. Final Fantasy XV
Mr.Webhead Okay, maybe First Light is harder, but with SS all you have to do is beat the game as Good and Evil, beat up various people, and perform a few easy tricks. The hardest one was smoke-venting twice and then Orbit Dropping onto an enemy, and even then it's pretty simple.
Daniel Phillips Not for me. Trying to find all the Blast Shards and do all the Stunts in 1 was really difficult, and in two it didn't count my Hard playthrough, for some reason. And I don't know what a "Veranda" is, so that was complicated.
AC2 is quite the grind I found, not massively difficult but can be a pain in the ass in places. That said, Revelations is a totally different story due to the crap DLC they baked in.
jordan woolms congrats, I got it too. With Revelations being the problematic one due to the awful DLC and it's two most difficult trophies. And the mini war game was time consuming. 👍🏻
Wouldn't say I'm at a bad number of platinum trophies (Currently at 58), but I do admit that I've delved into a few whorish types of games sporadically. However, have no intention of doing anymore since I'd rather platinum games that I genuinely enjoyed instead of just buying them for trophies. Also, Telltale games aren't embarrassing at all. While their more recent games seem lacking and somewhat mediocre in comparison with their older stuff, they mostly have good stories at the very least. Tales from the Borderlands is certainly among my favorite platinum trophies obtained for sure.
Stuart Pot I've only played the walking dead from telltale, but i think their newest game isn't mediocre at all, personally I'd say that is the best game I've ever played. TWD The new frontier ftw
Yeah, I've heard it's not a bad game. I was meaning stuff such as Batman, Minecraft: Story Mode, and Game of Thrones. Will pick TWD S3 up at some point. :)
PS4 Ratchet and Clank was do-able. Although that could be because I've played the whole series at least 4 times, starting from the original. Rob - I'm wallowing in Fallout 4's Commonwealth at the moment and I've just got to the point where I've had to "Make a Choice". This means I can't be friends with some people now. Have you done a feature like "8 times games made us make choices which meant we couldn't be friends with everyone and had to play the whole thing again just to see what would happen if we were friends with those other people instead."? (Or something like that but with a snappier title?)
You have the infamous Faster Than A Speeding Ameboid trophy, I got this plat a few days ago, took me 7 freaking hours that trophy, that hoverboard race (under 1:35), is a little too hard I think, whereas the other one is a little too easy, apart from that it's a great game and an easy plat I agree. Had loads of runs of 1:40 or below after watching videos but couldn't shave the extra couple of seconds off for ages, highly enjoyable game though I'd recommend it to everyone.
WeeWeeJumbo I only have one. Dont play for trophies. So not bothered. It's nice when you get them but I ain't going out of my game way to seek them out.
WeeWeeJumbo earned 1 plat, book of spells, was a kid back then and loved the harry prtter stuff, now im over it and embaressed about it, just play the full game and boom, plat.
williamwall back in like 2010 I Was about to platinum it , but my game glitched out and didn't give me the trophy to buy all the paintings at the shops. I was so pissed I Was like 10 or 11 years old
I have 5 platinum trophies: 1. Middle Earth - Shadow of Mordor 2. Middle Earth - Shadow of War 3. TES 5 - Skyrim 4. Horizon Zero Dawn 5. The Witcher 3 (finally got it yesterday, after 3 years)
Yay, I only have 1 of these platinums (Rapture), although I can't say some of my other 150 aren't as embarrassing (Arcade Dig Dug & Pacman, many point-and-click & visual novels, Color Guardians, Sound Shapes(x3), Goat Simulator, multiple Lego games etc.)
I think the Platinum for Jak & Daxter in the HD Collection is pretty easy, just play through the game and get all the Precursor Orbs, Power Cells and Scout Flies, it can be done in pretty much 1 playthrough.
I was going to comment about that game too. The zoomer parts can take a few tries, at least for me. But other than that it's not a hard game at all. It's my first and only platinum trophy lol.
daniel taylor Well the difficulties don't even effect you getting the platinum in that so of course that one was a cinch....though I personally prefer at the very least play on "normal"....
1 of my easiest platinum trophies that i've got was for nier automata where you can basically buy "most" of the trophies with ingame money but you need to have completed the story atleast 3 times to get the secret vender. the only trophies you can't buy from this vender are the story related trophies which require to finish the story 4 times.
Nier automata not only is it one the best games ever made, once you beat it you can pay a character in the game to unlock all the trophies for a very smal amount of in game money.
Hey Rob I'd be interested in seeing the "7 most well balanced platinum trophies", riding that perfect line between ridiculously unattainable and so easy all you have to do is start the game
Everybodys gone to the rapture isn't ridiculously easy. It's easy as in it's not a hard platinum but it's a very grindy and time consuming one. It takes hours using a guide and you can't even sprint in the game so it's very frustrating and boring. In total between playing the game and doing 2 or 3 other playthroughs for trophies it might take like 15 to 20 hours.
My Name Is Mayo requires you to tap X 10,000 times, while changing outfits every few hundred taps, crazily easy plat, 35 minutes it took me. And there's The Order is very easy too. The Order has no bronze trophies, mostly gold, beautiful game too. Just saying.
I have 6 plats : Rocket League Rayman Legends Need for Speed Payback Uncharted 4 Uncharted the Lost Legacy Super Meat Boy (Super proud of this one :D )
Kudos for taking the high road for this video. Too many folks relish looking down on people (like me) who have amassed easy platinums on their PSN profile. Oh boo, I say to them. Oh boo.
I wouldn't necessarily say they are easy platinum trophies because it eats up so much time and you have pretty strong difficulties you have to finish the game under but anyone with a brain could eventually platinum the Mass Effect Trilogy. It will take multiple playthroughs but if you like the games that isn't a problem and Mass Effect 3's multiplayer trophies have ways to get them through the story if you can't get online or no one is playing.
netherrealmshero Have all 3. I hate the first one, and oh lucky me, is the one you need to beat the most times. You can get ME2's plat in a single playthrough, in fact, that's how i got it. Don't think i'm going for Andromeda, though.
Plants vs garden warfare platinums for both 1 and 2 aren’t too hard but not exactly easy. Still never have completed a garden ops on craaaaaazy on gw1 because the final wave is absolutely mental and can only be completed by a team of four seasoned pros.
10 platinum trophies now. NHL 15, Far Cry 4, Rocket League, Goat Simulator, BF4, My Name Is Mayo, Mr. Massagy, Midnight Deluxe, Energy Cycle and Nubla. (The last 5 were ridiculously easy to get. Less than an hour for each.)
Infamous second son is my only platinum. honestly it was pretty easy. don't remember off the top of my head what the hardest trophy was... but it obviously wasnt
Joshua Brown don’t recall wich one, but one off the trophies was bugged when I was doing them, got it on my 2. Playtrough, but had alreaddy done the requierments 20 times 1. Playtrough
Joshua Brown I have that platinum too. The trophy where you had to travel thru two air vents then land a air drop on an enemy all in one sequence. Only two spots in the whole city where this is possible.
To be honest..Skyrim. Found the game so enjoyable that i just got them by casually playing the game. For quite a few hours but thats not the point, the point is that it wasnt hard to do.
I came looking for this comment. It's the only platinum I have so assume it was easy, especially as I don't remember doing anything too specific to do so.
@@sotirisnakos7632 I know I'm 8 months late, but hell, this video is more than 3 years old, so whatever 😂 But LiS was made by Dontnod Entertainment (published by Square Enix), so no, it's not a TellTale game; also, there's more extra little things to do in LiS compared to Telltale Games, so yeah 😛
I’m an Xbox owner yet I watch PlayStation access because the Xbox one access channel lacks any form of personality or character. It’s like watching paint dry or watching cardboard. This channel is so awesome!
