My family and I moved here a few months ago and would always come here for walks when we lived in Morinville. When we would go for walks, 98% of the people we walked by said hi to us. I've never experienced that anywhere in the world I've been. We love it and are ok with paying the higher taxes because this city is kept up so well. Even the same stores that are in Edmonton that are in st Albert must be kept to a higher standard, because even the public washrooms are top notch.

Thanks for the great rundown! My family has a plan to move to Alberta in the next 3-5 years and my wife just discovered St. Albert and fell in love with it! It looks like there's a lot to like there, much more than what we currently live with in BC, so I really appreciate the honest video. Great video! The #1 pro is one of the reasons why we moved here over 20 years ago! Just wanted to mention, the City didn't clear the path on the river and they were trying to deter people from going on it due to thin ice in some spots. Also, the protestant school system is now referred to as the public system. When you would have gone to RH, back in the day, that school was part of the St. Albert Protestant Schools district. Now it is in the St. Albert Public Schools division. ;-) Keep those videos coming - show off our great city!!
@AllThingsRealEstate

Thanks for watching Brenda, and it’s such a great city to live isn’t it?! That path just seemed so well done I assumed it had to have been the city. Of course about a week after I posted this video, I started seeing the city posting that they did not clear the river and that it is not safe. 😬 So I hope people are cautious. I definitely did an oops on the protestant school system though, it was a long day of filming. 🤦‍♂️😂

There's nothing I want more at this time than to finally find a place in St. Albert - Akins/Grandin/Tudor Glen/Village plaza area preferably - or that area close by Sir George Simpson school where I can access that great outdoor skating rink down the slope there or the outdoor pool! Love your videos. MJust watched your “Edmonton” video last week. We have heard about St. Alberta many, many years ago. My Aunt and family lived here, and loved it. We are in Lethbridge right now and would like to be in a smaller community. We are in our 70’s (young 70’s…lol) we still bike and hike and love winter. Is this a good town for retirees? Thanks, for any info on that you can provide. By the way I sure wish you would do a video on Lethbridge, we’ve only been here in Lethbridge 7 years (from Ontario) the parks, biking trails are the best we’ve EVER seen (haven’t been to St. Albert, though). Couple of Cons for Lethbridge. Regards, Rob and Linda

Houses cost less than in Edmonton. I calculated it would take at least 20 years of slightly higher taxes in St. Albert to break even with the cost of a house in Edmonton. This does not include the taxes in Edmonton. Roads are scraped to the asphalt in the winter at least a few times. YAY! St. Albert is NOT Edmonton. Definitely it is a different city. YAY! Many paved walking trails where people say hello all the time. YAY! Crime is very very low. YAY! Nobody parks trucks on their front lawn. YAY! The population is very educated and very diverse. YAY! Store and shop owners are your neighbours. YAY! It still has a small town vibe. YAY!

We are looking to move to Alberta, possibly St.Albert. I am an electrician by trade and my wife is looking to work as well. Our son is on the autism spectrum and we need information about speech, physical,O.T. therapy. Do the schools have programs for kids in the spectrum? Are there clinics to help autistic kids? This is our biggest deciding factor. Since your wife is in Healthcare maybe she could shed light on this.
@AllThingsRealEstate
@AllThingsRealEstate 2 года назад
Hey Nathan! I’m an electrician by trade as well. 🙂 There are programs available within the schools but they are somewhat limited by age and which school accommodates the program. My own nieces went through a program called PUF and found it very helpful. But PUF is limited up to the age of 6 I believe. There are additional paths to go through from grades 1-12 as well, but again only offered at specific schools/grades. There are also clinics/therapists/psychologists local to St. Albert, and Edmonton (basically attached to St. Albert) will open up a lot of options too. Hopefully this helps!

@AllThingsRealEstate
@AllThingsRealEstate 2 года назад
Awesome, either Alberta or BC are both great places to live! St. Albert itself does not have a private high school. We have 3 high schools in total, one is with Greater Catholic Schools (St. Albert High) and the other two (Bellerose Composite High & Paul Kane) are with St. Albert Public Schools. The drive into Edmonton can be very short depending on where into Edmonton you are headed. If you're heading to the South Side of Edmonton, it's about 20-25 minutes, but Winter traffic can easily change that if there are poor roads, or accidents. Hope that helps!
