If only we could send a similar ROV into the depths of the ocean on Europa. Just imagine what kind of incredible creatures might live there in such alien darkness
And that would only be the creatures we could 'see'. What about all the microbe species as well, possibly just waiting for their time to 'evolve' and take over the solar system. And what are species here on Earth still evolving into? Evolution does not stop with humans. Will advanced species beyond humans treat humans like humans have treated other humans and 'lower' evolved species if it were in their agenda to do so? Microbes eat humans when humans die. Are we all just organic food for microbes? Did they have this planned all along?
I think that NOAA and EVNautilus' ROV's (and their extensive field work) have made the deep ocean more fascinating and appealing rather than scariness.
No need for apology, life does life things and we appreciate the uploads even if they are far apart. This is in my opinion one of the best channels for learning new things within this field, not so much because of the science, but because the information is presented in a very unbiased way and with great care for the viewers attention being at the right place.
Great to see you upload again! Have you been to the new Deep sea Exhibit at Monterey Aquarium? I went and also had a behind scenes tour! They are BREEDING snailfish and bloodybelly ctenophores🤯. Siphonophores! Lantern jellies! Zombie worms! Tunicates! Larvaceans 😳! Well worth the visit, I'd love to see this channel do a walk through 🤗
At one point in the magnapinna footage, you can see that some of its arms are spiraled at the ends, which I think is really fascinating! With each new video we get of the creature, the less terrifying and eldritch it becomes. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this species of squid, and what we'll be able to find out about it!
All these animals seem so alien, but especially magnapinna. They almost look like how people have described actual aliens, little grey bodies, big eyes….but these have crazy long tentacles. There mysterious, kind of unsettling, yet beautiful. Pyrosomes, siphonophores, and magnapinna are some of my favorite ocean animals.
Fr, like they are actual ancient aliens that came from space but had been living through the ages in Earth. Tbh i'm impressed by the fact that they can live the most deepest parts of the sea
Good to see you back, my friend.. with shrimps, anglers, eels, magnapinas.. and other creatures of the deep! Always love taking a trip into the abyss with you. Let's turn on the *DARK* and take a dive.. Thank you, L..... 🤗💚
4:15 the lighting in following shot is so impressive. It's like there are multiple light sources, you also see a shadow passing over the eel from above
I have always loved the oceans and watching these new finds is incredible! Since I'll never be able to go down myself, your videos are the next best thing! Please, keep them coming, thanks!
WB also yeah this is why I love the Deep Sea so many cool, creepy, but yet mysterious & beautiful animals do love there and hope to see more of them in the future. Amazing video and I wish y'all are having a great day .
The #2 spot was an unexpected surprise because one of my former college chemistry professors used to do expeditions to study granadiers. He would include photos he had taken into his PowerPoint presentations for class and I always found them to be so interesting.
We missed you!!!!! ❤️❤️. I love nothing more than to binge watch a shit ton of these (even the ones I’ve seen before) at 1 or 2am. Alone, in my bed. What a mood. When I was little I wanted to be a marine biologist specifically because of the deep sea, I was fascinated by deep sea sharks and giant squids. But just the sheer landscapes of the deep sea are enough to inspire feelings of awe, wonder and slight hints of fear. But alas I became a jazz musician, but your videos are the next best thing to being down there in the deep
First one you showed is very hard to find information on so much of the ocean hasn’t been discovered yet. These videos are very relaxing to watch at night
❤ this stuff so much! Never thought I would lay eyes on these Gorgeous creatures of the deep oceans. What a privilege to be able to witness! Well, before we have destroyed every last species due to our ignorance with pollution! We have eliminated so many already! Ocean-Earth-sky-&-?outside of our atmosphere?! 😢! Thank you for showing us all that Natural-Beauty! GBU.,SM.,NZ., ✌♥️🙂🙏🐟🦞🌊
There's a couple speculative Paleo channels that was discussing the fact that everything eventually evolves down to Crabs (not everything of course), from my perspective I'd say they all turn into Eels
I recently saw a comment that says:"There's nothing new to be discovered on the Earth!" 😑 Everything I have seen on the post has a natural grace and elegant movement...😇
hey, i got a question. anybody got an idea why deep sea creatures still developed body parts that are presumed to be useless in the depths they live on? like being blind but still have eyes.
A very good question, Eldevincey! Biologists are constantly studying and researching to better understand the evolution and function of vision. If "creation" were a fact, why design animals with eyes that were of no use? It is possible that the ancestors of these "blind" sea creatures lived in lighter conditions and made use of the eyes at one time. Evolution may take millions of years to completely remove characteristics that become useless, but it starts by _eliminating_ traits that are no longer needed.. so the non-seeing eyes still remain - but perhaps they will eventually disappear altogether. However, many creatures in the deep, deep ocean produce their own bioluminescent light, which they use for signalling or attracting prey. Perhaps some of these "blind" creatures may use their eyes in useful ways we are yet to completely understand.. maybe they can see faint glows which would be invisible to the human eye. We never stop learning and maybe one day scientists will have all the answers! 🤞
@@pimpozza hey thank you for spotting my question and adding a very insightful explanation! i missed that potential explanation so thanks again for reminding me. hopefully it will be in my lifetime.
It's amazing how most of those don't even move. They just float away in the endless void of the ocean. Reducing body functions to be more like a plant than an animal- Like the Halosaur that just slowly glides backwards and expect the very tail that moves like a farn-plant it almost seems liveless
Although these species of Grenadiers are likely very rare, Grenadiers in general are very commonly encountered by researchers and fishermen. They look very similar as well.
11:09 The first time I've ever seen a Magnapinna squid's eyes. It looks remarkably grumpy, but then I would be, too, if I were being stared at by a metal box. 😼
When I think about it there’s probably so many animals that might be able to be discovered until night vision cameras that operate well without the presence of other light. Due the extreme darkness, I feel like the lights used to record certain species might deter a lot others.
One thing I notice about many of these deep-sea species is eyes that are normal-sized and seemingly functional. Are these eyes functional? What wave-lengths of light are able to penetrate these depths?
In some species they are remnants, others inhabit the deep and migrate closer to the surface for feeding or mating purposes. In the extreme depths no light from the surface reaches the bottom, but many of the inhabitants produce their own lights in the form of bioluminescence.
How does it feel to be an important repository of magnapinna footage, at least for a layman? I can't get enough magnapinna footage, and this video's was particularly good.
Thanks for another great upload. No worries on the time. Life happens. I often wonder if the light bothers these creatures. At this depth really, how much light are they exposed to? I know the light is needed to explore and study. I wonder if they be like dang, what is that bright light lol.
Seriously I fucking love your videos end of discussion. No bullshit talking just real facts no bullshit talking about whatever what you know your present. That's fucking rare this Days. If I could afford it I will be a thug member of you patreon. Love from Dynamit Larry.
