You really need to get over to Chester zoo when you can because you will be in love! The monsoon forest is a beautiful Asian tropical house but inside their they have a crocodilian (not sure which one but they have a gharial type jaw) and a really nice underwater viewing area! Just please please try and get there you won’t regret it
It's very high on my list! Next year I need to figure out what budget I have for zoo trips after the purchase of my new home. But I think a UK trip should be in the cards.
Unfortunately, there aren't any Indian gharials in the UK and I'm not sure why that's the case since the likes of the Nile crocodile and the saltwater crocodile are still present in captivity here. Chester zoo, ZSL London zoo and Jersey zoo used to keep Indian gharials in the past but they haven't been in captivity here since the 70's. The false gharial is present in captivity here but there's only 4 places that currently house them which are Crocodiles of the World, Chester zoo, Beale wildlife park and Call of the Wild zoo. I was able to see false gharials at Chester zoo which are housed in the Monsoon Forest. Also, I think you saw Indian gharials for the first time at Pairi Daiza since a baby gharial is still a gharial.
Interesting, lots of US zoos have them, maybe because they have a good relationship with the groups in India that breed them because that's really the only way to get them. Even though ZSL does work with them, so maybe it's a different reason
Glad to see my favorite animal featured, and every exhibit was really nice. Definitely have to build a tropical greenhouse now. Also they are always housed with turtles, so that shows we need some in PZ.
You should go to Prague zoo for gharials expecialy. I will go there next week and I heard that it is beautiful and great zoo so I am looking forward to see Prague zoo.

Awesome, have fun! For the Zoo, definitely don't miss out of the nighthouse, which is in the predator buidling. Otherwise most things are hard to miss I'd say. For the Tierpark, don't skip the Himalaya area, and the savannah bits, they were really awesome. The tierpark especially is absolutely huge, so I'd say take a good look at the map to see which animals you definitely don't want to miss, and make a route that catches them first, in case you run out of time.
