@@CornCrazed whatever it takes to start making field goals, I’m for haha I’m hoping they wouldn’t even bring him on without knowing he could be a threat. The iron sharpens iron mantra is all I think about when we get a new guy. And I think they’re making an emphasis on special teams this year.
Gotta say. I made a lot of money off the predictability of NE last year. I strive for a better NE. I can't make the same bets. GBR, and here's to turning it around to where NE deserves to be!
I took the over 7.5 wins. I think they win 8 or 9 regular season games. Start of hot then get a lil wonky at the end. The schedule is total trash early.
My number 1 thing I wanna see is that we stop “losing” games. It’s one thing if we get beat but we have been gifting wins now for quite sometime and it’s unbearable. If it’s clear that a team is better that’s one thing, but handing wins to dead teams on a silver platter has to stop.
Yeah, getting beat by better teams that stay on-mission doesn't bother me as much as just giving the game away. "On any given day" shouldn't mean "On any given day you can make so many mistakes that you give the game away".
Fantastic video Connor. I have not made predictions beyond wins and losses yet, but I think the majority of your expectations and over achievements are going to hit. That being said, I think what is most important is good QB play and have a winning record, as you mentioned.
I do think your expectations are too low. If they win every game they are favored in they will win the first 7. If they have a decent showing against OSU they will favored in their last 4 as well. UCLA should be a win. Having a bye week prior to USC and with USC looking the way they did last season they should win that game. Besides if Miller Moss plays the way he did in the bowl game USC will have a decent season. If Miller Moss plays the way Caleb did the last 6 games of the season USC will not even get to 6 wins. If they split the last 2 games with Wisconsin and Iowa we get to the 10-2 mark Will Compton is referring to. If they lose one other game the shouldn't that is a 9-3 record and I will be satisfied with the season. Eight regular season wins I am disappointed and 7 with this schedule is a lost opportunity.
I think these are bare minimums right. My expectations given their situation with a new QB and a history of winning 4-5 a year. I’ll have a different prediction for what I think they can achieve, but these are where they are today based on what we know imo. Agree with you on the schedule setup and wins!
I didn’t say a blowout is 11 points or more. I said two separate things: 1. I don’t see blowouts on this schedule. 2. I believe this team can will keep their games within in 10 points.
Perfect timing Connor. Been so hyped about the season - then the lull and questionable recruiting class. After listening tonight- aahhh. It’ll be alright!! We’re on track. So much to look forward to this season. GBR
Line play on both sides. Get that going, and if DR plays like a stud, this is a 10 win team. Good O-line play means a potent running attack. A potent running attack opens up the deep passing game, at which DR should excel with the receivers on this roster A great D limits the other teams offensive possessions which tilts the advantage to NU as long as turnovers and penalties are kept in check, and the kicking game doesn't flame out like it did last year. So, I'm going out on a a big limb (too much Rhulaid tonight) and predicting a 10 win season and a possible 11th in a bowl game. What a turnaround year that would be! The key will be coming out of the gate strong, and getting lucky on the injury front. Once momentum and confidence build, everything else will fall into place. GBR, be perfect, and be relentless!
I expect Nebraska to play the teams they are favored to win, DOMININATLY and to play teams they are a dog to COMPETETIVLY. I'll throw in steamrolling Colorado and deflating their season..!!!
My expectation is that DR throws for 2,800+ yards with a 3/1 TD/Int ratio. Maybe 28 TD and 9 Int. That type of QB production paired with our good defense should result in at least 8 wins. GBR!!
I hope Rhule finally beats a ranked team as a Power 5/ Power 4 Coach... 0 and 14 all time... 0 and 11 at Baylor and 0 and 3 at Nebraskka [Colo, Mich, and Iowa were all ranked when we played em last season]. To me, this isn't a good look. 0 and 14? Geesh!
The most important is..the QB not turning it over, thats football 101, then working as a team not a "me" or "I" mentality. This is what is successful in the ultimate team sport. Oh, and I miss you!! GBR!! LFG!!
Buckeyes blowing them out im disappointed in Nebraska instead of helping the Big 10 they garbage play hurts the Big 10 my guy! No money means no top players! Only cause the Buckeyes got outta pocket, they stick to the script Buckeyes should & only school to never had a down period! Besides we love going to Lincoln & blowing y'all out!
Another gem Connor, after 50+ yrs of watching the Huskers, never thought I’d be happy with a bowl bid…but that’s my expectation for the season, well that and a W in so said bowl game. Nothing would be better than to send the Buffs back home with an L also. Doing great young man🏈🌽🏈
I hadn’t heard that Jalyn Gramstad was officially N!! I agree that he is the perfect addition to our QB room! Proven, experienced QB with high completion rate! Now we can potentially give HH some reps at TE if he has ability to catch and block.
It has been almost a decade since Nebraska made a 6 win bowl game. The only D1 team to not make a 6 win bowl game since 2016. No team in the USA is worse. Maybe by 2030 they will make the Pop Tart bowl.
I went back and watched the games so many turnovers first throw of the game. 5 turnovers a game is wild. Trim that to 2 a game and we win a shit load more games
Great job Connor! My expectations are similar. We have to reduce the turnovers. We must improve in all aspects on special teams. We must win 7 games and be competitive in the others. The 1000yd receiver and rusher will happen if you do the top three. I fully expect us to be 7-0 going into the OSU game. At that point we need to be competitive! Then we need to win 2 of the last four or more. We can beat UCLA at home, then beat either Iowa or USC on the road or Wisconsin at home to be the kind of year we were always used to under Dr Tom. Over achieving this year is 10 wins plus a bowl victory.
Only 3 games NU scored over 21 points? That's atrocious! I am 70 years old and I remember the National Championship years (70, 71, 94, 95, 97). We had teams that ran up 600 yards of offense. Good Grief! I remember games when 3 players would amass 100 yds. rushing each. So you can imagine, 21 points in 3 games is, "hard to accept."
Just about to shut down for the night and get a notification that you dropped a new video. Don't care if it is your take on the new phone book, I'm in. #ForTheAlgorithm #GoBigRed #FuckTexasAlways :01
My prediction 1. Nebraska goes 9 wins maybe 10. 2. Adrian Martinez gets a NFL shot. Adrian is a class act. Pulling for the. 'Huskers. - OU Fan since 1956
Really glad we got a transfer kicker. Didn’t have a lot of faith in Alvano after the spring game and it’s gonna be a big part of winning those close games.
This is a fish or cut bait year for Rhule. He needs 6 wins and a bowl. I put him at about a 75 percent probability of making it. Remember Haarberg got em to 5. Dylan wont be flawless but schedule veteran O and D lones should get 6 wins.
Nebraska coaches are leaving no stone unturned attacking every potential weakness that might cost them games this year getting another: kicker, punter, quarterback, running back, offensive lineman, receivers etc.. competition is increasing and that will breed success.
Is anyone having problems with playing the whole video without having to restart because of Tik-Tok ads? Great content but I've had to restart the video at least three times because the Rik Tok adds shut down the video
As a hawkeye fan always Love your videos great content. You should beat the buffs . I have huskers 7-5 . But 7 point favorite is that the huskers or iowa havent seen lines or is that your prediction
The gramstad add was like destiny? Idk how to describe it. But it was best case scenario of all time for that situation. Dude said he wants to be a coach. He knows he’s there to backup Raiola and coach him up if he can. Such a good fit.
I'm expecting an improvement across the board. Losing close games by giving them away will change. The one thing this staff will do is put the best on the field. More experience across the board. QBs will step up. Donnie's 3rd year will show another step. Culture shift is real. LFG GBR ☠️☠️☠️☠️ we see 10 wins
I wanna take your total defense realistic expectation one step farther. I think that Nebraska should be in the Top 15 if not the Top 10 by the end of the year.
Man, Jalyn is like a dream come true for our situation. And like you, i think his desire to be a Husker like the rest of the QBs is the icing on the cake.
I swam in the NAIA I was stronger than a lot of our conference winning football team. I started my career walking on to the 15th ranked D1. The levels are night and day. Hopefully he can step up.
Definitely a different game, but even if we consider him a really good incoming freshman from HS, he can still make an impact. This wasn’t an NAIA starter, this was the best player in the whole league!
Bro never did I think neb and usc would be in the same conference 😭 but such is life. East coaster die hard usc fan, but really coming on board with the huskers! I noti Ed since I started watching the huskers was really during the frost era and it did seem like a lot of self woes plagued them in those close games. Excited to see how nebraska does this year like you said they seem to be on track for a great season! Great video man!
You’re in the right place haha. I’m a die hard Nebraska fan living in Hollywood with deep ties and connections to USC! I grew up going to every game, a ton of my friends played there and I probably know as much about that program as I do NE 🙃
@CornCrazed that's frikkin dope, man! The bucket list is to make it to the coliseum one day! Excited, I will be going to my first husker game this year versus colorado! Looking fwd to your season predictions and future content man! Also you got a website for any merch?
I think if we just have a competent QB who can hit some deep balls and not give it away, we're already winning more games than last year. H.H is a QB only when we have no other option. But, just like every year, I'm drinking the Rhule Aid and super jacked for the season to start. GO BIG RED NNNN
I'm expecting the same record. Demanding 6 wins at a minimum, way less turn overs or we need a new coach at $100,000 max until we get results. That's what nebraska needs. He'll I would apply for the job
Yes, first think you said is exactly what I've been saying. Harburg first with Dylan Riola as our pocket passer for long balls. We will be good if we stick with that.
Great content editing, your impact zooms etc make this the best well produced Husker podcast. Your clear communication style with the production value pushed you past the Carriker Chronicles for best in the sector. Great subtle production updates. GBR
The offensive line needs to make a sizable jump for Nebraska to be a consistent winner. The defense should be good and the skill positions look solid. This team will be as good as the oline allows them to be and qb depth won’t haunt us if the oline keeps qbs clean. If Riola is running for his life expect freshman mistakes. If not, the sky is the limit. Punt return and field goal units also need improvement. I’m not sure why we can’t field punts consistently, we rarely return them and never are a threat to take one to the house. Hopefully Barney can help with that.
It all starts up front. We need to recruit and get these 4 and 5 star linemen that are big, quick, strong, long and smart. Get the linemen to work together and things will all come together.
One improvement i dont mind being patient and waiting for is having another feared RB. We had helu, burkhead and abdullah back to back to back. Since Abdullah, we haven't really had a RB that the opposing team had to specially prepare for. 2018 ozigbo was the closest back we had production wise, that was like burkhead or abdullah in recent history.
For me Connor, it's improvement. I know that sounds like a low expectation, but we went through 5 years of stagnation, and I feel like Rhule year 1 was an improvement. The sky's the limit if this team continues to improve in all aspects of the game.
i think i been arguing with you and most other fellow husker fans on your page for 4 years now about getting out of this prehistoric 90s run dominant offense and get into the realistic 21st century where u must pass to win(and before u bring up michigan last season remember they had a qb who could pass and a ridiculous defense) and now you saying u wanted us to pass all along.....you are hilarious bro...hilarious lmao....and dont give me that we did not have a passing a qb and now we do...cause i been calling for a passing qb the last 4 years lol....but hey at least you finally figured it out and on board....better late than never right?lol.....lets hope the rest of our fellow husker fans agree too smh
Correct. There will likely be 4 playoff spots for Big Ten teams and Nebraska is currently 7th in the Big Ten to make the Playoff according to FanDuel. That qualifies as “compete for a playoff spot”.
