Lived in Tacoma for 62 years and the Democrats have done everything possible to ruin not only Tacoma but all major cities in the State of Washington. He’s right about the roads though. There are bumpy, pot hole filled stretches in Tacoma that have been terrible for as long as I can remember. They are continuously being “fixed” yet the repairs never last very long. There are some real tire blowers in Tacoma.

Washingtonian born and raised. Grew up in the Tri-Cities. Been living in Tacoma since 2015. Is it the best place to live? Not really. Is it the worst place to live? Not really. Your life, wherever you live, is what you make it. Traffic? I’m a Traffic Control Supervisor. Trust me when I say wherever you live West of the Cascades you’re in traffic. There is a reason people choose to call The Great PNW home. The mountains. The water. The trees. One of THE most beautiful regions in the United States. Crime? Yeah, that’s everywhere people populate. Homelessness? Yep. Everywhere as well. Look for the beauty and you’ll see it. Look for everything that’s wrong and you’ll find it. Could Tacoma be better? Yes. But, it is home.

I was born in Lynnwood raised in king county late 70s and 80s..used to be nice and probley one the most affordable areas to live in the u.s, I paid 350 dollars month for my house in the 90s on the eastside, now it's destroyed and not recognizable. I have memories of its true beauty and will treasure that forever

I’ve lived here since 1968 most of my life I’m 65, we are leaving for port Ludlow, over by port Townsend. We are selling our tacoma home even though we love our home., a cute mid century. They are planning on building 50 single homes off of McKinley and pacific ave. It’s crazy over there and crowded don’t know where the people are going to go. And then they are going to 150 townhomes by blueberry park by McKinley ave. This city has changed so much since I was a child, the crime, drugs, graffiti, pot holes, drug houses that they let stay open. Don’t get me wrong tacoma is a beautiful city but we can’t take the traffic anymore and other reasons.

I am so glad I came across your channel! My ex and I were stationed at Ft. Lewis in 1993 and I LOVED Washington! Lived there for 9 years and I had no intentions of leaving but had to for family reasons. But... I'm finally returning in 25 days for a job at one of your hospitals and I cannot wait!!! I'm coming from NJ so your cost of living is a dream compared to what we pay for ($3100 for an 850 sq ft, 1-br apt in the middle of nowhere), along with a host of other issues Tacoma residents contend with so I think I will be okay. Weather? We've had more rain than you the past few winters. I need a rudder for my car! The only difference are the people. Not everyone is abrupt and angry of course, but most. Still, it will be a relief to be able to talk to people again without them thinking I want something from them. I will be scheduling a zoom meeting with you in a day or so. Looking forward to more of your inside tips for a smooth transition! This is great!

Been in tacoma for 27 years and it has its beauty spots but the amount of trnsplants coming whixh i figured would happen at some point has really sky rocketed and property and rent has went up with it. But so much traffic now and parking is horrendous, use to only take a couple minutes to go across town. The homeless factor has got a little worse but the crime is getting bad again, not early 90s bad but close to it . All that being said I love Tacoma haha

I live in Tacoma and frankly it's in the process of improvement. Roads suck in a lot of places that's true. We have a rainy environment for a good part of the year which doesn't do good things on roads. As for crime , yes there is crime just like every other large city but it is not teaming with it. This small town Midwest guy just needs to move back to wherever he came from and take all the other transplants with him. As a Washingtonian I don't appreciate someone who doesn't know the history or have a clue about city life it seems slamming a place that he didn't like. All I can say is move to Florida if you want sun all year round!

I currently live in hilltop and it's okay, covid was pretty bad with the drug situation on the streets with the homeless but things are seeming to clean up a bit... and I've lived here since 2007... well not Just in Hilltop I moved around a lot.. there's a few areas that I particularly liked better but they don't have reasonable access for my for kids, I personally like Spanaway, Roy, yelm.... places where there's more of a country / City Vibe, but like I said we stayed closer in the city like smack dab in the middle of the city of Tacoma because of our kids going to school which are almost grown.... my biggest thing is is I can't afford a house out here to buy but we rent for a reasonable price considering what we have... and honestly the traffic and construction areas are not that big of a deal as long as you know how to get around them and what parts of the day to drive on certain roads and not others... but overall they're seeming to fix up the roads a bit more as of the last year or so.... when I came out here it wasn't by choice I'm actually from Florida where I grew up as a teenager close to Orlando area, I ended up staying here after getting out of the military which is just down the road at Fort Lewis but my major reason for staying was the weather the fishing the camping people seem more laid back and chill if you're into the recreational marijuana thing that's pretty good out here as well... work wise there is plenty of that but I'm %100 disabled veteran which also helps because there's a lot of Medical in this area as well (pretty good medical)... if you're into food there's something for everyone to experience... anyway when our kids grow older we plan on moving slightly outside of Tacoma and buying a piece of land to put a modular home or something like that AKA buying some land cuz it's cheaper way to go... the only big concern in this area is if Mount Rainier ever went up it would take us all out with a lahar (mud flash flood), but with science the way it is now a days we would have enough indications before that happened.... anyways that's my two cents😎✌️

I've been here for over 50 years. It has changed ALOT! *The weather has always been rainy, gloomy (but in my child mind, the summers were longer and hotter 🤔) so nothing new there. Approximately October- May give or take a couple of weeks before/after. *The traffic has gotten ridiculously heavy and frustrating, especially with so MANY terrible [non] drivers. *The roads are tragic! Be prepared to buy/repair your tires or front end from pothole damage. * The cost of living has gone through the roof! Its insane, especially in "New Tacoma"(which literally used to be a part of the "hilltop" neighborhood) where they have tried to turn it into a Metropolitan area by throwing up a bunch of high rises, restaurants, bars, UW-T college, shops.... However, they forgot to clean up the major homelessness & high crime that has always been in the area(tho the homelessness is MUCH worse then I have ever seen), but are asking astronomical rent/buyer prices. Speaking on the homelessness, in fact it is so bad it has spilled over into ALL the neighborhoods of Tacoma. Its just more densly populated in the downtown, "new tacoma," hilltop area. Some eastside, Tacoma Mall areas... However, in the last year they have been making attempts to clean it up and are starting to make regular sweeps *Then there is a serious lack of community. When I was growing up most families looked out for each other, especially the children, no matter the race! But in all fairness this is more of a problem in general rather than a Tacoma problem. *Schools here range from so-so to no-no In the right neighborhood/setting, Tacoma is beautiful, quiet, well kept. People are friendly and helpful. There are enough things to do indoors and outdoors for families, adults only and children only too. For the most part pay is pretty good(obviously depending on different factors) ..... With that said, it is always good to try it for yourself, for your own unique experience! 😊

@@nicholashoheisel7837 Yeah and all the roads have 10x the traffic but most of them are still the same size as when I was a kid. Tacoma has always been a shithole but places like Puyallup and Fife were nice little towns now there's tweakers everywhere.

I lived in Tacoma for 16 years and moved out two years ago. I have to say, Tacoma is one of the worst places to live in Washington State. There are a lot of horrible drivers out there, crimes being committed 24/7. In my old house, we had a couple of intruders stealing our stuff from the property, but luckily, we were armed and had licensed pistols. In our old neighborhood, a young couple was shot near their house and killed before we moved out, which was very sad. There are a lot of homeless people wandering around. The only good reason to live in Tacoma is if you're very poor and don't have much money; then this is a place to be. All I have to say is that I am happy that we moved out, and it's so peaceful and quiet finally. It's a place where our kids can go out, enjoy, and play with other kids in the community.

They say number three place to live hu. I am from Tacoma, I can tell you the crim is rampid, homeles are out of control. Thifet is everywhere and the traffic like he said is god awful. I live in the Proctor district for years. i hate the farmer market people. Cause they are rude park and block half of the driveays around here thinking it is okay. My neighbors and I have had words when they are blocking our driveways and parts of the ally. They bring their dogs and leave their dogs shit on our front laws. I have got into it with these people on that too. There are three apartments complexs that was built. They are flooding the area that used to be charming and have made it actually worse to live in. Now the Methodist church in the area wants to buld up and bring in section 8 housing to the area. I used to kove section 8 and built myself up and worked to love in a area like this. Now it is going to straight shit.

Seriously? The time to leave Tacoma was 1975. As a kid, I remembered trying to hold my breath, avoiding the “Aroma of Tacoma" , riding in the backseat, on our occasional trips to SEA. Then, the Ash Street Firefight in 1989 was the climax. There realy isn’t any good reason to live in or next to Tacoma.

So how long have you lived here? I have lived here almost all my life. I have lived here almost 64 years. It’s not what it used to be. Like you said. I have to say I can’t wait to leave. I’m working on it. You forgot to mention all the theft! My car? Stolen three times. My bike? Stolen. You can’t leave anything out in your yard. Your car has to be totally empty! And please get an AirTag or some kind of tracker. I dismantle mine now as well. Housing cost is insane. It’s a beautiful City - but you have to take protection to go for a walk. And don’t go alone or after dark. Garbage is everywhere. Construction? Yea road construction but I had construction on my house and they destroyed my home. But no one will honor warranties, no building permits, didn’t know what they were doing. It’s a mess. On and on. Oh yeah. And this was a loan through our City. This is why I am leaving. I do not feel safe and you are on your own.

@@gamdore Check some RU-vid videos. It is beautiful but I would rather live out farther. I’m torn because of my kids being here but they are grown. I know I need the mountains. Whatever you do you can look up crime in the area you want to move to. Before here I was going to move to Buckley. I really wanted the house out there . But then I saw all the homicides, assaults, thefts, and molesters. That changed my mind. So I’m here in the “good” part of Tacoma, North End on a golf course. Doesn’t matter. Crime is everywhere. You just have to be defensive and protect yourself. But not give up living!

Thanks for the excellent video. I am from Tacoma but now live in Birmingham, Alabama. I wanted to talk a little about what I've learned from living in Birmingham. I think it gives some lessons for Tacoma or comparisons. You mention that traffic is getting worse and it's too hard to build more roads. Birmingham has better traffic and there is a new freeway under contruction north of town. It's just an awful thing for the region. What it will mostly do is promote the building of more suburbs. It will make a lot of money for road and real estate developers but do no one else any good. A big advantage Tacoma has is a better public transit system. Here in Birmingham we have a really poor one. Buses only run every 60 to 90 minutes and stop about 7 pm. Low income people try to buy cars because that's the only way they can reliably get to work. Tacoma should concentrate on being a more transit-oriented city and give up building more roads. The last thing I wanted to mention is real estate values. You mentioned that Tacoma is getting too expensive for people. In a way that's a nice problem to have. Some parts of Birmingham are considered so undesirable that you could not give away property for free. We have a history of racial conflict, and areas that are mainly black in population are often really depressed. To give you an example, an entire apartment complex in one of those areas was offered for $10,000 a few years ago. In a more prosperous part of town an apartment complex was offered for $1.6 million.

Moved to Tacoma late -19, so managed to get house bound by Covid almost instantly and hence never been able to get to know people or 'the community'... The two things people mention and driving them away is definitely #1 The increade crime! Here is shootings daily! If you have anything visible in your car, independent if its at a grocery store or outside your home, it will get broken into. #2 the cost of living.

I have lived in Puyallup which is next to Tacoma since I was 5 years old, I am now 63. Puyallup was a small rural town at that time with the puallup fair being the only attraction. It has had a massive influx of people over the past few years With no roads to accommodate at all. Lakewood, Parkland, Spanaway, our neighboring cities along with Tacoma have become more and more crime riddled which Tacoma has been trying to improve. North Tacoma is the only nice part of Tacoma, try to buy a house there, ridiculously priced with most of the new constuction on an old mining area, toxic, one would assume. The Democrats over decades of running this State have made Seattle is a shit hole, Olympia it's runner up and Tacoma third place and remember only North Tacoma is nice. With Jay inslee's sancuary cities, homeless drug encampments, laws to hide underage children from their parents if they dont agree on sex change, LGBTQ History and sexual grooming in grade schools, Trying to Free the most dangerous sex offenders from McNeil Island into grant grifting boarding houses in rural neighborhoods in Tenino etc.. Not to mention the Natural gas and propane ban law that was put into place along with the hidden gas tax and by 2030 all vehicles in Washington will be electric, along with so many other laws passed behind closed doors that the main stream media does not report on. God help us, the inmates are running the asylum
