I’ve watched so many videos on Surface products to make sure of solid user friendly utility facts and you hit the nail on the head. Perfect vid dude 😁👍🏼
The Surface Pro 7 was my first “mobile” device that I could run Deus Ex and Half Life 2 on, so yeah, absolutely fantastic. I got the i5/8gb model and am very happy with it 🙂
I got mine three weeks ago and I haven't used my laptop since lol. I'm enjoying it so much and i5 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is just perfect. It's fast and beautiful.
I had the surface pro 6 - and I was in love with it, even though it had a defect out of the box (a weird spot on the screen that was only seen when you had a purely white background on display - like youtube). I have the surface pro 7 now - I got it three days ago, and it is noticeably faster than the surface pro 6, even on start up! I did NOT think it could get ANY faster and I was proven wrong! I got the surface pro 7 because I finally had the time to bring my pro 6 to best buy to get that weird defect checked out. I HATED that spot with a passion - mainly because when drawing on the surface, the LAST thing you want to keep seeing are these weird spots!!! But I dealt with it for a year due to needing the device for school, and time and transportation were just not on my side last year. The ONLY gripes I have with the surface pro 7 so far is that 1. I got a blue screen of death two days ago on start up, out of nowhere, but I updated the device and it hasn't happened since so far. 2. odd over heating/getting extremely hot while charging and in use. This happened right out of the box the first day, but after using it the past few days, it has not happened again and gone down to a low warmth like the surface pro 6 did for me. Then lastly 3. The surface pro 7's front facing camera - even though it is said to be 5 megapixels as the surface pro 6, I genuinely have noticed what seems to be a lower quality camera in comparison to the surface pro 6. This is a bit of a problem in my honest opinion, only because I was stoked about being able to do online video calls, especially for interviews, with a high quality front facing camera when I had the pro 6. However, after not only thinking it looked lower quality, and having it proven by comparing the photos - I can see that the front facing camera on the pro 7 is not as good as what is on the pro 6. The first two gripes were easily dismissed, but the third one actually has me pretty bummed. EDIT: I looked at Andrew Marc David's video for the quality of the front facing camera - I just think I got another surface with a weird defective issue again. But that's okay! I can work with a not so great camera vs. a WEIRD SPOT on the screen! All in all, I still love the surface pro 6 AND 7! Can't go wrong with either to be honest!
Rachie Rach yeah the surface pro 6 was only 8th specs and the surface pro 7 is now at 10th gen specs so it skipped the 9th gen And now the i5 cpu is actually more powerful than the surface pro 6 i7 cpu. That’s why you see a pretty big boost in performance
Great review! I have a small question. I haven't got my Surface pro 7 yet. But it's the i5 128gb, M just curious to know if it play anything more than HD ON Netflix? Thanks
Noah, how well does PS run on the I3/4GB model? Have you encountered any software/ games which have dropped in performance? And/ or what is the heaviest task you have put it through so far/ how did it fair? I was considering the i5 8gb model, but now thinking of downgrading based on your review lol
@@casperswift is it really slow? That was the only bad reviews I've seen on them? Do you use in windows s mode or wins10? Could you use as 2nd monitor? Is it the 8gb one? I don't really need LTE.
Thanks bro for this very informative content. Just wanted to ask u overall durability of the tablet it's keyboard & Pen. Will it last long for at least 5 yrs? My uses is very limited i.e day to day use (checking emails, light chrome browsing),some time watching movies. And yes wat abt storage? Is it expandable? Thanks in advance.
I'm waiting for mine to arrive. the face that I can run any program on it was a huge buying factor for me. Bezels be darned, I don't care! I'm hoping it's relatively easy to use too!
Well better to ask for forgiveness..just ordered one hope the hubby doesn't get too mad! Lol! I just got promoted at work so I needed something I can use for working with! This looked like the winner!
Hey! I am getting a surface pro 7 to take notes with at university. I have access to computers at university and my desktop at home, so would you recommend the i3 version with 4GB of ram? I'll mostly be using OneNote! If the i5 version comes on sale for boxing day or in mid-jan I might get that still :)
Hi Peter, I would suggest waiting until the new surface pro 8 is out. Based on microsoft launches on microsoft pro, it should be coming soon. So the price of surface pro 7 will drop once it is out or you could go for the new pro 8
@@Marie-hh2ml i mean, specs wise and it will definitely be better and probably with additional functions but in reality you wouldnt know if the product has any real issues for us consumers until its been out for a few months and based on reviews and people's thoughts. Ngl i recently got the pro 7 for school too but i kinda regretted it after knowing that 8 is gonna be released soon. There isnt any issue with pro 7 so far and it has made my work so much more convenient
@@Marie-hh2ml but in any case, if you have the option of refunding then please do so, the release of pro 8 will result in pro 7 price to drop so you could potentially save some of your money. Or you could just go for 8! It will be soon so unless your sch work is urgent then refund!!
@@terrylim4177 thank you, I will definitely think about the options. I was lucky to save around 300€ already bc the store I bought it from had a save offer, so I'll need to think about it properly and thank you very much!
Batteries are expensive to have replaced - this is my third replacement in three years and hinges breaking are a known problem. I have to support the back of mine with something solid now. Several complaints yes no accountability from Microsoft. I only use mine in the kitchen and before bed so I'm not hard on it. Wouldn't buy this again - not a chance. Oh and my genuine keyboard stopped working and they run about $150 until you buy the less reliable Fintie keyboard - which I have now.
if possible could you make a comparison video on pro-create vs abode fresco! It would be interesting to know your thoughts & opinion! keep up the good work!
Hope the next generation has AMD Ryzen processors. They're really good now so we'll either get same performance with lower price or better performance for the same price.
Hi Noah, thanks for a great review. I was really happy to hear that you are able to use Photoshop on it. I am now ready to pull the trigger and buy my 1st Surface, because of the portability and small form factor. My main use would be Photoshop and Lightroom and so I am a little undecided if I need the i7 16Gb (more money...) or if the i5 8Gb (more affordable) will be able to do the job. So my question is, are you happy with the performance you get using Photoshop on your i3 version and what is the max size canvas that you have used? Thanks again for the review and have a great day !!
I’m sure the i5 one will be okay. The CPU’s are pretty strong for a really slim 2-1 like this. I bought the i5 8gb ram one but mainly use it for notes and web surfing but I have tried photoshop and there is no lag at all and it runs Adobe products amazingly overall. I would say the battery life on the 7’s aren’t as good as Microsoft says, for me I get about 5-6 hours of life (running 5-6 hours straight but not on power saving mode, so I bet you could get more towards 7-8 hours of life with power saving on). Also the pen lags behind slightly but there are options to speed the response time of the pen up (search on RU-vid). I have also found the palm rejection to be absolutely AMAZING but I have heavy hands and when I press down to hard sometimes the pen glitches and the lines I am trying to make jump slightly.
@@Avat6 Hi there. Yeah I did. I went for the Surface Pro 7 i7 16Gb. I work with RAW image files in Lightroom and Photoshop and find this model very capable, easily working between both software at the same time. I also added a 512Gb Samsung Evo microSD to expand the storage. Can recommend this model.
@@romuelhowe7005 hello i was wondering if it can run 3D programs like AutoCad or Solid works,i will not be using it heavily tho just light usage. How about the temp ? Does it bother you?
I'm looking at either getting a pro 7 or a Lenovo Yoga C740. I love how thin and light the pro 7 is but the yoga has similar specs, a 2" larger screen, can flip to be used as a tablet as well and cost $300 cheaper. Any thoughts comparing the yoga to the pro 7?
If you need a laptop and tablet in one and you like a sleek light design, you should get the surface pro 7. It can also run some games such as minecraft java, MUCK, etc. If you are into art, it is also a good option. I am getting it for high school because it is also good for work in general.
Can you show productivity multitasking with the 4GB or ram? At what point do you hit a slowdown? Does Virtual Memory do the trick for mitigating this? I'm interested in marking up two or more large PDFs at the sametime in Drawboard PDF.
Hi noah, I'm planning to buy MSPro as a replacement for my prehistoric ipad and a heavy duty laptop as a substitute for my daily school need.. I basically need a performance of an ipad for my note taking in class and a portabitlity, functionality and productivity for making a paperworks... My question is... Is there a big difference, rather what is your recommendation in chossing an internal processor (i3, i5 or i7) that is suited for my needs.. I'm asking because I'm thinking the lower the processor maybe there will be a problem or lagging while im jotting down note? Sorry I don't know much about computer specs.. Thanks!
John Medicine I also have the same question like you I have my old laptop but now I want to find a new laptop tablet but I don’t know which one to decide between I pad pro 11 inches and surfacepro7 for the same use as u and also normal daily photo and video editing in your experiences can I pad pro 11 inches do what I mention above?
I have the I5 version but haven’t opened it. Wondering how your one handled Resolve. I’m on the fence and thinking about selling it and buying a Mac instead.
Hey, I am looking to buy a Surface pro 7, but confused between i3 and i5 1) is the 4 GB RAM enough to sustain 10-20 chrome tabs? 2) How future proof is it? Will I get decent performance after 4 years?
You should definitely get the i5 if you care about longevity. The i3 variant, especially the only 4GB of RAM is only barely minimum for today, in 4 years it won't be possible to do much with so little amount of RAM.
Hello I have some questions to ask to insure before I buy my surface pro7: -Do you think surface pro7 corei5 8GB is ok for video editing or photoshop and daily use for a long term use? -Will 128gb enough or I will need 256gb? And what will you recommend what is best if I want to use for a long term use for editing, photoshop, daily use which is worst it tell me the specs please. Thank you!! Love your videos!
The surface line is really bad value IMO. From my experience, video editing is a nightmare on windows (I have a 6core cpu). Mac is better in that regard bc of optimization & free software. 8gb of Ram is somewhat low for windows, especially for photo/video editing and long term use. I think 128gb is a bit low for normal use and unacceptable for your claimed needs unless you buy an external SSD. In conclusion, get a better value Windows laptop or a Mac - user of surface pro 4, gaming pc, and family iMac 5k
I recommend building a pc and having a cheap light laptop (if you need portability). Macs are too over priced. Building a pc would be alot better for you.
I really like that you can play games that runs on Windows computers and laptops on a tablet. You can kill a little bit of time by playing CS go or maybe StarCraft.
Do you think surface pro 7 would be a good device for engineering students ? I want to buy one but am unsure. I am going to study Industrian engineering and management science. And we are gonna use softwares like Solidwork, Lingo, Excel (VBA) etc.. any suggestions ?? It would be really helpful
I myself like big bezels. They allow me to hold the tablet without touching any of the screen. I wish that new iPads or other tablets would have an option to add big bezels.
Hope they have fixed the battery issues since the pro 4. Mine has screen bulge, and I can see inside now. Seems they never tried to fix or recall, and even though there is a risk of battery explosion, they never even warned registered owners. Now after the warranty has expired, they recommend you quit using, and buy a new one. I spent way too much for this one. Why would I ever buy another one? I loved my surface, but if Microsoft won't do the right thing, I'll take my business elsewhere.
Hi Noah, I'm starting to do editing in premiete pro and illustrating and animating in illustrator and animate, and i was wondering if the i3 version that you got would be sufficient for that
i have it and i do not reccomend. it is super slow and inconveineint. many customers always complain on how the keyboard wont connect sometimes and there is no fix.
Can you type without attaching the surface type keyboard to the tablet? If I want to keep the tablet on a stand closer to my eye level while still being able to type comfortablly. I don't know if I can use the Surface Type unattached or I'll have to buy another bluetooth keyboard.
*Surface Pro* line definitely needs a discreet graphics card imo. It will never get *thunderbolt 3*, so external gpu is out of the question. The bezel issue is completely cosmetic.
The x looks better for sure. Bur ultimately its not worth the extra money. If you have a 7 with an i3 then upgrading makes sense but if you have the i5, there is already so many features you get with the 7 including a headphone jack and like he mentioned, much better performing software
Imma get mine with the core i5 It can run minecraft java pretty smooth And it can be used to draw Im gonna get the surface slim pen 2 for it Hopefully they are compatible
should I buy this one or the i5 8gb. I'll mainly use it for college, that would be note taking, photoshop, design, media consumption and light gaming (lol, csgo and stuff like that)
I'd say get the i5 one. It's a lot more powerful and can run Photoshop without (or almost without) any hiccups, though if you're ok with very slight fan noise, I'd go as far as to say that you should get the i7 variant, as it's the most future-proofed of the bunch. I'm actually getting i7 variant myself because I want to use it all throughout high school, and through as much of college as possible (I wouldn't want to spend $1400 on something when I can barely afford living expenses and the sort.)
I am a university student and I was unsure whether to get myself the Samsung Tab s6 or the surface pro... I want a device that can be a laptop/tablet, you know? In my case, what do you recommend? Do you have other suggestions for hybrid devices?
got a Microsoft Surface Pro 7 with an i7. But this ne has a mini-DisplayPort. No USB-C. Yes it's weird, but the case. I think this is an in between model? It was really down priced. Maybe it was a returned one.
hi there I just bought surface pro 7 yesterday and its kickstand loose already and I'm kind of worried will they replace it. I bought it from best buy. help
have the 17 16gb ram 256gb ssd model, so much better to use as a graphic design student compared to the ipad pro. The only cons for me would be if the pen charged from the side, if the bezels were smaller, and if the switched to aluminum instead of magnesium.
if windows can get most mobile apps like apple and android,it will be definitely be a lot better than ipad pro. This is pretty much a computer without any limitation like an ipad but lack of app always keep me away from the surface line but i may just get this pro 7 if it goes on sale
Battery is about 8-10 hours, it weighs a lil bit more than an ipad but is fine for binging. It has one of the best webcams on the market. Drivers are fine and there won't be bloatware because it's a surface lol... it's made by Microsoft. The speakers are also great and front firing.
@@BriefNerdOriginal I have had my Surface Pro 7 Core i5 a gigabytes of RAM for 2 weeks, a couple days ago I gave me a blue screen and I was because I had a video game running while I closed it. I think as long as you don't do what I did do you won't have any issues
It's a great device but the battery kinda sucks and I'm having trouble with controlling the brightness level. I always have to restart it to increase or decrease the brightness level. Do you have that issue?🤔 I have the i5 model not sure if that has anything to do with it but thought I had to throw it out there.🤷🏽
Change the default resolution to around 1200p, you might need to adjust the screen size but let me know if that helps. Battery drains when you run a lot of pixels on the screen
@noah herman *I want to buy this surface pro 7 i7, 16gb ram ... but I want to know if it helps me to use after effects cc 2020?* help me with this question please !!!
I heard the display scratches VERY fast with the pen. Is that true? I've read a review that said after 4 hours of use he was able to see the first scratches.
Is 8GB/i5 configuration is good enough for playing 240fps(1080) videos shot on Gopro 7? Not looking for editing and stuff. Just need to playback high fps videos smoothly.
