James Reeves knows that gun bimbo, Brandon Herrera, plans on making a video talking about how the AK47 is the greatest SHTF survival rifle. My gun storage is full of ARs and AKs, with several different calibers. If someone said "pick one and only one, tomorrow the world goes Mad Max", I'll be taking the Zastava ZPAP M92 Alpha with the folding brace. Super reliable and built like a tank. Short, but has most of the rifles punch. Accurate enough for most engagements. And I have the most mags and ammo for 7.62x39 then anything else. It's a no brainer!

I remember flying on a CH-47 on a night flight to my first FOB in Afghanistan. We did about four drop offs and a pickup before I got dropped off. The pickup was a bunch of special forces or seals. All in bead sheets and beards. All with AKs. I think they thought fairly highly of them.

It's common for sof to use weapons that share ammo with the enemy's, for instance spetsnaz in afghanistan would use 7.62×39 ak's instead of 5.45×39 so they could resupply from the mujahedeen.

I’m a stucco man by trade. I had this repair this past year of an army vet who accidentally shot off his ar15 while cleaning his gun. The .223 round went through his garage wall, through the drywall, plywood,insulation, 2 inches of concrete stucco wall, across the 15 foot gap yard into the neighbors house, all the way through their wall and into their office room. .223/5.56 will not get stopped by drywall and shouldn’t be used as a home defense gun in my opinion. I am an Ar guy by the way I own 5 of them

@@westcoastplinkin6559 Actually I was deployed to Operation Desert Shield/Storm and Somalia with the Marines as well, carried the M-16A2. Seen them fail. Carried the A2 in Iraq 2004-2005, then for my next deployment 2007-2008 I think I started carrying the M4. Retired after a deployment to Africa where I had the M4. Colt lost the contract, now our rifles are built by Fabrique National. Where and when did you serve?

The AK is the most used assault rifle ever! Considering this fact , there is obvious reason behind it. It is cheaper to produce , it has less elements which makes it more reliable! The M4 has numerous issues with reliability and thats one of the reasons why German producers such as the HK have their own variants (hk 416, etc.).

Palmetto State Armory makes American made AKM at a respectable price. Passed Rob Ski' s tornado test with 60 rounds. I like both rifles, and have owned multiple examples of both. I have owned AR's that averaged 3 inch groups at 100 yd's and and I have an AK that shoots 2 1/4 inch groups with Wolf ammo. I had 2 failure to feeds with AK. Put a Wolff spring in the mag and solved problem. Other than that , no issues with any of my AK rifles. You are certainly entitled to your opinion as am I.

I am 6'1" with long arms and really hated shooting an ak with non-adjustable stock. Although this is satirical in nature, the ak was made for poorly trained troops to put volumes of fire down range.

I’m Russian American . I keep my AR -15 in a cool dry place in my house I would never put my AR In the sand ,dirt or under water ..jus in this case I have my AK . AK for the war . AR for the house .

I'm a retired SF Medic. I always liked the AR platform better than the M16 platform. The reason there is such an aftermarket for the AR-style is because it needed it. I do have a Sig Patrol 5.56 but dropped in a Giselle Trigger. The piston seems to remove the malfunctions but still way more complicated than I like to expose for cleaning in a survival scenario. The rail system eliminates the peep sight system that required the shooter to line up 4 objects versus 3 (rear sight, front sight, target).

Compared to the AR, the AK-47 is heavier, less accurate, more difficult to modify, has sites that suck, has more recoil, and shoots ammo that is larger / heavier to carry. The AK is an archaic and outdated platform.

Each weapon is designed for its own purpose. AR is a weapon for a specialists. AK is designed for cheap mass production and weaponization of huge masses of untrained human meat. Accuracy and reliability are no use if you die in a pointless banzai attack.

@@jrocks6969 Please tell me you're joking. I'd take a semi-auto rifle over ANY handgun. 7.62x39 is five times as powerful as 9mm and has six times the range. Handgun calibers tend to be a lot less powerful than rifle calibers. Even that full auto Glock won't do any good against someone who could pick you off from 300 meters (about 1,000 feet) away, which is what intermediate calibers (5.56, 7.62x39, .300 Blackout, etc.) were DESIGNED to do. Hi I have used both platforms AR-15 and AK-47 extensively. when I'm shooting for fun or self defense in urban areas I use the AR as it more accurate and ammo is better suited for the average shoot range but when it comes to daily self-defense I do use the AK. AK is a million times more reliable then the AR especially when it comes to a war like situation when cleaning a weapon isn't the top priority also my men can use it without much training. I have some AK's that haven't been serviced since 30 years and yes they run fine. If I don't clean my ARs every week if used extensively I will start to get malfunction ASAP. Both platforms have there advantages, it's on the situations where one will do better then the other.

AR 15 doesn't work well in extremely cold temperatures. 10 degrees or colder mine has really struggled which is a big problem because I live in such a cold state. I have attempted to use it twice this winter for hunting and target use and I have had failures to fire and to feed. I actually am switching to the AK because I need a gun that works reliably in the cold. In Maine the woods are so thick 200 yards and in is all I need a gun for so the AR 15 is kind of out classed by the AK.
