An alternative to tip 2 (expanding the area for the right side of the Develop module to give the sliders more sensitivity) is to put your cursor over the slider you want to change and press your up arrow to quickly go +5 at a time or your down area to go -5 at a time. I do that so I can look at the image as I'm clicking on a slider to see when I've adjusted by the right amount. It works for all the sliders in the Basic panel, plus the sliders for colors and others like vignette.
solo mode - check. sliders longer - check. radial filter - ctrl/double click - check. (didn't know that one...) module hide - check. video - library capture frame, dev module settings - sync with video "poor man's grading", check. quick collection - target collection - hit the dot on images - check. (B works too...) multi-photos selected - show meta data for target photo only... check. Good list :) Thanks -

Awesome tips, Colin! While some are well known (Solo mode, hide unused modules), I have never seen any other site mention tips like how to "edit" a video by capturing a frame, or view metadata for only the target photo!
Instead of enlarging the slider area just hold down the shift key while dragging any of the sliders that way you can move the slider in much finer steps
Yeah I was surprised he didn't include that one, it's so useful and non-obvious - I stumbled on it long ago and have used since... on the Develop module exposure slider, using the up/down arrows with shift will move you in 1/3 increments. If you shoot in 1/3 stops, it's a pretty useful increment...
That's a great tip! I'll have to remember that. Adobe jams in so much functionality when you use a modifier key like Shit, Ctrl, etc., that it's mind blowing.
really thanks .. I am so opening Lr now to check it out. Enlarging the panel doesn't appeal as the stupid 2nd monitor defaults to the left screen rather than the right so don't use it much. Just tested it out and Love it. I usually use the up and down arrow keys and always annoyed at the great jumps.
Great tips! Might add to your tip on the target collection that the "B" keyboard shortcut to add/remove photos to the target collection is a fast way to add/remove images to the target collection from either the Library or Develop mode. Great tips thanks! Been using Lightroom since almost the beginning and didn't know half those.

Thanks for this! I have ONE question though about a trick not mentioned here: HOW do you change the order or sequence of a few (not all, as in a full sort) images while in the Library tab??? Even in FOLDERS with no subfolders and Custom Sort selected, I can't change anything! I've seen many tutorials that show movement of an image to a location between two other images (thus re-ordering things) and a black line shows up. NOTHING like that happens when I try it, no movement, no black line or error message either; the selection of "Custom" sort actually does nothing no matter what I try -- no success with any version of LR over the past 3 YEARS! I know I'm leaving some essential step out (a step no one ever mentions, apparently). I'm now using LR Classic 2018 (Feb 2018) desktop on an iMac. This has simply never worked but would be wonderful if it did. Any clues?
I shot footage on my Canon 6D and did the video edit sync thing you showed...the screen shot I was working with was only a 1.2mb image. Is that normal after shooting in 1080p? I'm new at this so go easy on me, lol. Thank you!!!
Great tips. Loved the way to develop/edit video using a frame capture. But when I try that the saved/extracted frame does not appear in the window below like it does for you. Anyone any ideas why not - where is it?
I love the way that you tricked LR to edit a video, but I can´t get it to work, when I capture a frame nothing happens, I don´t get the second frame, any suggestion on what I do wrong??
Also - the Home, Page Up, Page Down and End keys will move you around in full display area increments so you can move around in an orderly manner. (You'll wrap-around if you hit the bottom of the image - it will move over and go back to the top). Really handy when spotting stuff out...
the same for me, rightclicking on the arrow - nothing happens --> rightclick on the Word itself (like "effects" or whatever group) and the options will show up
